Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo AV Famicom

THENAMESNORM

I loved mt NES and still have it, and although few of the original boxes are in mint condition, I always preferred the cardboard boxes to plastic ones, with the N64 ones being my personal favourites!

While I can testify that the original pads were very uncomfortable over long play sessions, there is a reason they are so iconic! A brilliant system, even if the EU version was behind other territories with it's support!

Re: Wii U Resident Evil: Revelations Will Not Support Wii Remote and Nunchuk

@SteveW Your Right, Epic Mickey 2 is a great example. I bought it for my wife for xmas, but she insisted that wanted the Wii version over the Wii U simply because the Wii U version didn't have wii mote support! She even tried the demo of the PS3 version (which had move support) but didn't like it as much as the wii mote! For some people it makes a huge difference.

Re: Talking Point: Early Flirtations With Wii U "Free to Play" Are Just the Start

@Bass_X0 sorry perhaps I worded it poorly. I dislike buying a game at retail(for around £40-50), then paying another £10 soon after for an extra few multiplayer maps. (I'm looking at you COD! Even though I love the game, the 4 DLC packs practically double the price of the game to £80!)

For TTT I prefer the model where you only buy the modes you like, and don't have to actually pay for the game itself! I've spent around £9.48 or something like that on TTT so far and I'm loving it!

Re: Talking Point: Early Flirtations With Wii U "Free to Play" Are Just the Start

I wasn't fussed about Tank Tank Tank but when I saw it was going free to play with low cost DLC I had to try it! I bought the Story Mode and Kong mode, although I've only dabbled with the story so far.

I have to say I hated the way the DLC is run on Zen Pinball 2 (I found it quite confusing at first) however I quit the game before launching the e-shop for that one. Today for Tank Tank Tank I pressed the home button and launched the e-shop without actually quitting the game and it took me straight to the DLC section for TTT on the e-shop, which I thought was cool.

I'm not sure whether ZP2 does the same or not but It may be worth pointing out to users that this can be done. The only downside is having to restart the game to apply the DLC, but thats pretty standard anyway!

I do usually prefer just to buy my games and I hate paying up to £10 for additional content, however I could get used the TTT model of buying the modes you want! It may prove annoying though for any online modes in future games.

@Raylax - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you have never played RE4:Wii edition. It wasn't waggle controls. Everything was controlled usning the buttons, you simply pointed at the screen to aim your shots and they way it was integrated was perfect. It wasn't like an FPS or anything. And it was so good that it was then brought to RE5 for PS Move and it was just as good!

What people want are options. I prefer my FPS games with dual analogue. I like 3rd person games with dual analogue too but I have to say the RE4:Wii edition controls are my favourite and as the system supports wii motes and they have proven to be a success then they should be an option.

What was argued during the Wii era is that the Classic Controller Pro should have had support for more games than it did. I like having the option. Games like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros Brawl etc - they had support for almost every control scheme imaginable and that's why almost anyone could play it and be good at it.

Re: Wii U Resident Evil: Revelations Will Not Support Wii Remote and Nunchuk

I loved RE4 controls, and I bought RE5 on 360 when it launched to see what dual analogue sticks felt like. I hated it, but when the PS3 version brought Move support I bought it again and I loved it! So I may consider buying this in future should Wii remote and Nunchuck functionality be there either on release or via a patch, but without I'm afraid it's just not suited to me so I'll pass.

@jboy1807 everyone has their own tastes, for me this is a deal breaker, as it is with others. Obviously it is not a big deal for you, but I'd lay off the tired "lame story" route, as obviously through this being discussed by many people in the comments section and via forums It IS worthy of people's attention. Just because it is not important to you doesn't mean it isn't to others.

And on your second comment, I would expect to be able to use the wii-remote as it worked so well previously.

Re: Tank! Tank! Tank! Available Now in European Wii U eShop

THENAMESNORM

Downloaded it and bought the story mode and My Kong mode(that seems to get most of the praise from some reviewers!) only played the first two story mode levels so far but for the price I've paid I'm quite happy! I would never have thought on buying this previously, so well done Bandai Namco! And Nintendo!

Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September

THENAMESNORM

@Blaze If the game is finished on Wii U then it makes sense to release it now, make some money and then rake in the rest when the ports to the 360 and PS3 are complete. As I said earlier and many others have also said - the only way this delay is acceptable is if the Wii U version of the game is not actually finished. Many people seem to believe the game IS finished for the Wii U but I cannot see a company like Ubi making such a poor business decision.

For a final time, the exclusivity of the game is not the real issue here, it's the delay (of what should have been a finished product) at the last minute.

Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September

THENAMESNORM

Gutted by this news. I am just about to cancel my pre-order from Amazon.co.uk. I ordered it on the strength of the demo, but by the time it eventually releases there will be too many other games I want.

If Ubisoft claim to have listened to consumers who want it on their current console, then they must listen to all the people posting here stating that they want the Wii U version when it's finished. The only way I will accept this game not being released for the Wii U before September is if it's not finished. Which is unlikely but you never know.

Very poor Ubisoft.........

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign's Advertising Role

THENAMESNORM

I already own all of these titles on the Wii virtual console aswell as some of the original cartidges, and was delighted to see I'd get a massive discount as they have been transferred to my Wii U, but I'll def be getting these at the £0.30 rate! It's a no brainer. It seems as though all of the risk for people on the fence has been removed by the massive reduction in price!

Re: Review: The Cave (Wii U eShop)

THENAMESNORM

I really liked the demo and plan on buying this asap. Love the review but I honestly don't mind the backtracking. The game plays well, lots of good ideas and for me that makes up for some of the more tedious parts. I'm curious to see how the co-op works, thought there may have been mention of it in the review.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Plans For Wii U Virtual Console

THENAMESNORM

I have no problems paying an extra 0.99 for the games again, I own ALOT of Wii VC games so I guess I'll be choosing my favourites to get but overall I'm happy with the huge discount for previous owners, delighted with the GBA games(especially for using on the Gamepad!!) I just hope that Mega Drive, Turbografx etc are carried over too, and that Sega Saturn, Dreamcast and Gamecube games are added over time!

Re: Resident Evil Revelations Set to Infest Wii U

THENAMESNORM

I've wanted it for my 3DS for ages but don't want it without the Circle Pad Pro, so this is a great option for me now! What would seal the deal for me really would be Wii-mote controls ala RE4:Wii Edition! I much prefer RE5 with Move over dualshock, and my fave RE4 was the Wii version.

Re: HMV Debt Acquired by Hilco

THENAMESNORM

As much as people believe HMV are overpriced for Games, I got Sonic & All Stars for the Wii U £10 cheaper there than in Game, Black Ops 2 for Wii U is also £10 in my local store, they have also been selling the Wii U console at much more competitive price's than Game did at launch. I love Game and what it represents, but HMV are needed too in my view, and despite some ridiculous prices sometimes, theres always value to be found somewhere.

Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening Will Be Available On 3DS eShop

THENAMESNORM

I want the Physical version, however I AM tempted by the download one! I only want to download a retail game that I know I'm going to love and won't trade, but I love the box art etc. Then again, the convenience of not having to change the cartridge.......dammit Nintendo give me a free digital copy of the game with my retail purchase!!!!

Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd January 2013 (Europe)

THENAMESNORM

I love all the negativity here! No, wait, I meant I hate it. Be patient people, Nintendo said previously that the VC service is being worked on for the Wii U with possible GamePad support, which would be awesome.

The Wii U is in it's infancy, any significant changes like this will likely take several months. Granted I would have preferred it at launch, however it wasn't there, so I don't see the point in complaining about it. It will come eventually. And when it does, it will be amazing.

But for now, let's look forward to Nintendo TVii.
