Re: Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed

THENAMESNORM

I love the controller! Both designs are great, but I would probably prefer analogue sticks than circle pads, but not overly fussed. As for those that think it's too big......I'll bet your the first to moan that you think the screen is too small when you use the controller as your main screen!

Nintendo contollers are winners. Always have been, always will be.

Re: Get a Load of Two Dillon's Rolling Western Trailers

THENAMESNORM

I had never heard of this game until last weeks release date was announced, and I think it looked at sounded awesome! On the strength of that alone I have no downloaded it and will play it later. I was originally put off by the hefty price tag, but there's just something about a Nintendo downloadable game that makes the price unquestionable! Glad to see this released in addition to the content for tomorrow!

Re: In Fire Emblem 3DS, Death Isn't Always Permanent

THENAMESNORM

I love the fact that death is permanent, however when I lose someone on the Wii Fire Emblem I usually reset the game and restart the battle, so turning permanent deaths off would be an advantage!

I just wish I could make it through the game without a death!!!

Re: Talking Point: Wii U and the Future of the Online Pass

THENAMESNORM

I completely understand why publishers have the online pass, the only other fair way to do it is for Game/Gamestation or anywhere else that stocks second hand games to pass some of the profit onto the publishers. Which isn't going to happen without the original owner taking a huge dent in the trade-in value.

Perhaps publishers themselves should look at setting up their own webstores and buy unwanted copies of games from players!

I prefer to buy my games brand new where possible anyway, generally I only buy pre-owned when there's no new stock, or a considerable price difference.

Re: Deep Silver Signs Back to the Future for Europe

THENAMESNORM

Well at least this makes up for it's non appearance on WiiWare, though I'd have preferrred the digital option myself. Got the game on the PSN and it's pretty good, any fan of the films will find something to enjoy about it! I hope it's a decent port though.......

Re: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3D

THENAMESNORM

This game is awesome, and with a HUGE amount of content. Online multiplayer would have been a nice touch, and maybe a game mode centered around the Zombie survival side-mission would also have been cool.

This game can be picked up for £15 now in the UK!

Re: Turn Your Retro Cartridges Into ROMS, Legally

THENAMESNORM

My understanding is that it is LEGAL (In the U.K. at least) to have a back-up of any media you have paid for and own. There was a court case a few years ago and a judge said that as long as the files were for the owners use and were not distributed then it was ok.

However as someone has already stated It's not something anyone here is qualified to rule on, and we should comment on how awesome this product is, rather than discussing it's possible legality. If you don't think it's legal, don't buy it! Simple. If you DO buy it, don't share your ROM's If you make back ups!

I think this an awesome product, however I will wait for an N64 expansion before considering a purchase.

Re: Review: Soccer Up! (WiiWare)

THENAMESNORM

@Kid_A Not a problem. I'm surprised by the reaction there seems to be over this review! I don't agree with the scores given to some games from a variety of critics, but I understand fully that a review is simply the critics opinion. Other reviews I feel are spot on. This is the latter.

And the idea that you should award the game a higher score just to prevent the metacritic score from being dragged down is just ludicrous! In my opinion you're 1/10 makes the game look better than it is.

It's great to see that some people have enjoyed this game, I'm just not one of them.

Re: Review: Soccer Up! (WiiWare)

THENAMESNORM

I really wanted this game to be good, so bought it a few days after it came out, rather than sensibly waiting for a review to appear. I wish I'd waited. This review is spot on, the game is sooooooo bad, but the thing that makes the whole thing so unprofessional is the instruction manual! The translation is so bad that they would have been better not translating it at all!

This game plays in a similar style to sensible soccer, but none of my friends that love sensible soccer(and we all own the XBLA version and like it) can even stand this game.

It may not be the worst WiiWare game, but of the 65 WiiWare game I own, it is unquestionably the worst. By far!

Re: Review: Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

THENAMESNORM

@theblackdragon thanks, I noticed a few minutes after posting, feel like a right idiot. Anyway, I've added myself to the community so hopefully there is someone online!

Re: Review: Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

THENAMESNORM

Is anyone on nintendo Life setting up a community? I mean James or Corbs etc. I was lucky enough to get the game on the 30th nov and have been playing online ever since, it's amazing! I have the ONM community but hardly anyone on it(as the games not officially out yet i suppose) and the game suggested the Mario community but I'd love to race against NintendoLifers!!

Re: Review: Excitebots: Trick Racing (Wii)

THENAMESNORM

I actually bought a US Wii in late 2009 just to play this game as I loved Excite Truck so much, and it was becoming clear that this game would not release outside the US. The game was amazing one of the best and most refreshing games I had played in a long time, however I had to sell my US Wii not long after as I needed the cash, but now I see the game has found a release in Japan recently, there may be hope for a European and Australian release! If that DID happen I would defo be buying it again, no doubts. Come on NOE, pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeee?????

Re: Review: Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

THENAMESNORM

@JamieO yeah after SNES Rainbow Road the only one I've liked is actually the MK64 Rainbow Road remake in F-Zero-X!! But when I saw a video of Rainbow Road in MK7 it just blew me away!! I love the idea of point to point racing in MK, and I love the idea of Rainbow Road not just being on a rainbow!

Re: Review: Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

THENAMESNORM

@Mario_Party_Fan_999: Although I don't know for sure I'd guess that Shy Guy is a character in the game for anyone to use, as he has his own course - Shy Guy Bazaar.

Re: 3DS System Update Due Before 8th December

THENAMESNORM

@Lohengriehn the update was never announced by Nintendo to be for 4th November. They said they would make an announcement on 5th November about the update, and they announced some features the update would include, but no date. It was only in adverts around the 21st of the month that it was stated as 30th Nov, and even then the caption simply said "3D video camera available to download from 30th Nov" and makes no mention of the full update. We are all looking forward to this update, but it is by no means the end of the world. At least it's not as bad as the N64 days.......

Re: Review: Mario Kart 7 (3DS)

THENAMESNORM

I've had this game pre-ordered for ages, one for me and one for my nephews christmas! I've had every Kart for every console, but this truly does look the best! And I've been waiting for a decent Ranbow Road since the SNES original.....looks like we're getting the best two Rainbow Road courses ever!!

Would love to see some of the DLC Nintendo has been talking about being for this game, with perhaps some more new and retro tracks!

Excellent review, as always!

Re: 3DS Launch Title Sales Chart (UK)

THENAMESNORM

I have Shadow Wars and it's my favourite launch game! But it's important to realise it's NOT last, it's 10th of the 17 or 18 launch titles(can't remember the exact amount) It outsold 2 of ther Nintendogs titles, Asphalt 3D, Splinter Cell and Steel Diver to name a few.

Re: Tesco Slashes 3DS to Low Low Price of £175

THENAMESNORM

@2 Amazon's pre-order price guarentee doesn't cover matching costs of other retailers, it only means that If you pre-order something when it costs £200, but between you ordering and release date the price decreases ro £150, you pay the lowest price of £150! Even if the price went down to £150 then back up before release, you would still only pay the lowest price of £150.

To be honest I can't see Amazon matching Tesco's price as most of their 3DS systems that were pre-ordered are shipping now(mine included!) but you never know!

Re: UK 3DS Pre-Orders Double Nintendo's Previous Record

THENAMESNORM

@4 warnerdan The first console I owned at a time when it was popular was the N64, though not at launch. Since then I have been lucky enough to pick up a GameCube, DS and Wii all on launch and it's so much better than getting it further down the line,

Sure you may pay more, you may have to wait ages for the best games to come out, but you get to know the system, experience a wider range of games in the long run, and be genuinelysurprised by how good the product is, rather than hearing about it or playing it at a mates house. Plus, you have loads to look forward to with top releases still to come. I'd much rather pre-order and get the best games as they become availible, rather than buy it 2 years down the line and have missed out on so much!

Re: This Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars Walkthrough is For Your Eyes Only

THENAMESNORM

@5 Moosa yeah agreed reviewers often take points off for what a game DOESN'T do nowadays instead of how good it actually is. I believe Fire Emblem on the Wii is one of my best gaming experiences, and it scored well but it was stopped getting a better score because it's not original and had no online functions.

So Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is probably worth an extra 10% to those who like the genre and are not fussed about online.
