Yeah I was really not convinced about this until I read the ONM review a few days ago, I love Fire Emblem, and this game is basically a cross between Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, with a Ghost Recon Flavour!
Anyone who loves turn based strategy games should pick this up eg Shining Force, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars etc..... The only downside seems to be a lack of online play, but there's still local multiplayer! At least there's something to look forward to in a sequal!
Just read about this on the NOE website, pretty cool! It also says that some 3rd party publishers games will also come with points for the club, just like Nintendo's games! Ace!
The Blue Shell and Bullet Bill are amazing power ups and are the best way of trying to provide consistantly entertaining and above all else competitive races!
I'm not the best MK player in the world but I'm no slouch either! However I have found on occassion that these power up's have proved invaluable to me!
There's no fun in playing a game where you can't compete, especially online! Part of Mario Kart's appeal is and always has been the power up's, If you don't like them, then you're playing the wrong game.
I'm all for improving a title, however when you take away one it's core gameplay mechanics, you take away the game itself.
(P.S for those of you that hate me now, guess what? I also love the BIKES in MK Wii!!!!)
I agree, 3D Bomberman is not a patch on 2D Bomberman, but I actually like this game! Downloaded it on day of release on VC as I never owned it when it was released and I was actually quickly pulled in by it, I really enjoyed it! Plus it's always great to play an old game of a franchise you like, and even better - this is a really playable game!
As long as people actually try it, they will buy it. I'm not sure as many people will buy it without trying! Fingers crossed Nintendo's roadshows work!
I've pre-ordered Pilotwings Resort and Ridge Racer 3DS so I'm looking forward to the review! If Ridge Racer isn't as good as I hope then Ill change it to Asphalt, I was lucky enough to play it recently and it's a solid racer, though I think I'd prefer Ridge Racer!
I never owned an N64 Bomberman game, and I heard they weren't that great, but I always thought they looked great at the time! The fact that I never owned this game and I love Bomberman means regardless of how bad it was, I will still be getting it. Can't wait!
I love the Bikes from MK Wii, I love the Blue Shells, I love the expansion to 32 tracks from MK DS onwards especially the use of retro tracks, however there obviously has to be something new for this MK. I'm hoping downloadable content eg new and old tracks or maybe some sort of Diddy Kong racing Adventure mode with a more or less open world to explore!(wuhu island with portals to the races?) Or a new game mode to replace or rival battle mode?
I'd personally prefer more tracks as although I loved Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart was the better racer in my opinion.
I was lucky enough to play this at the recent Glasgow 3DS preview event, and it's amazing! The 3D is sweet, and it's the first time I've enjoyed a Resident Evil title without wii-mote/move controls!
@4 yeah I agree, rare games on virtual console before anything else. The whole studio has changed dramatically since the N64 days and perhaps the new personelle are the reason for recent failures. I have played several of Rare's games since the N64(and I can't remember a game I didn't enjoy that they made on the N64) and the best of them was Perfect Dark Zero, however compared to modern shooter sadly it just doesnt stand up!
However I'd welcome them back on a Nintendo console with open arms and I DO fully believe that their games are better suited to Nintendo's hardware.
I never got to play an N64 Bomberman game, although I loved it for the Mega-Drive, so this would a definite purchase, even though I always remember Bomberman on the N64 being slated!
But I think I would be buying any N64 game released on the Virtual Console anyway!! My fingers are crossed for Pilotwings, Shadows of the Empire and Snowboard Kids!
@14.danschmen I agree, and this is one of the best Wii games ever. It's a delight to play(especially for those like me who found the earlier Resi titles awkward to play - this plays like a dream!)
@Mario Party Fan 999 There's a massive amount of DsiWare to keep anyone happy for quite a while. I have a few dozen DsiWare games are quite a few of them are really good, and very addictive.
I'm pointing to games like Mario vs Donkey Kong, Need for Speed Nitro X, Dark Void Zero, Pop Island, ART Style:PiCTOBiTS, Chronos Twins, Dragon Quest Wars, Advanced Circuits, 10 Second Run, Defense Wars, Let's Golf, Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ, Mighty Flip Champs, Real Football, Reflect Missile, Starship Patrol, Tetris Party Live and WarioWare:Snapped! These are the better games that I own, some dirt cheap at 200 points, some at 800 points but all are great games. And let's not forget that two of the best games on DsiWare have still to be released outside the US!(Shantae and Cave Story)
So In my opinion there are PLENTY of DsiWare titles to last a few months.
Well my game arrived around 25 mins ago, and so far I've had time to read the instructions(i NEVER do that!) and win gold on the first 12 stages in race mode with the classic controller(had to replay 5 or 6 races to win gold) so far with only one game mode played Im really impressed!
Anyone in the UK on the fence about this game - don't be! Go to amazon.co.uk and you can get it for less than £20! You won't regret it!
I went around 4 different shopping centres today looking for this game and nowhere had it! So I ordered it from amazon.co.uk for under £20!!! Deal and a half!! Can't wait for it to come through!
Snowboard Kids - along with Goldeneye - recieved the majority of my attention on my N64. I got my mum to take me to the shops straight from school on it's release day and it is the best first day purchase I ever made! It was so good I imported Snowboard Kids 2 from Australia as it was never released in the UK!!
I really hope this turns up one day on the Virtual Console! Maybe the 2nd one would make a good Hanabi Festival game???!!!
I knew I recognised this game, it was called Blue Shadow for the NES in the UK! I owned it and I have to say I quite liked it!
I was only around 10 at the time, and didn't really understand what made a "bad" game bad, but I remember enjoying it! For 500 points I'd download it - admittedly more for the memories and nostalgia - but what I REALLY want is either Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu for the NES, or even better, Soleil/Crusader of Centy for the Mega-Drive/Genesis!!!
That is, of course, unless they update the virtual console to include Sega Saturn games, then it's defo got to be Shining Force 3!!
I never got this game on launch, but I did pick it up soon after and really enjoyed it. It was just an outstanding thought being able to blast stormtroopers! Even the horrible camera couldn't ruin it for me(It tried it's best though!!)
