Re: Nintendo 64 Emulator Unceremoniously Yanked From Xbox One Store

TG1

@gcunit This question ... "didn't I just steal something?"

The answer, under the law, is yes.

Now if the question was "Am I likely to be prosecuted?" the answer would be no. However, just because a court might not choose to pursue, it does not change the fact that such an action is illegal.

@HappyMaskedGuy Your initial feelings were correct. You would have stolen something.

Re: Review: Free Balling (Wii U eShop)

TG1

@Thumbsofsteel "Whatever happened to the official Nintendo seal of quality?"

It went through a revisionist history, where some have forgotten what it actually meant ... as well as all the stinkers that released with its symbol.

That said, Free Balling is not a good release. I agree with NL's review.

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

TG1

@gcunit Sorry, I guess don't follow. I have a working email attached to my account. Is it just not visible to you?

I any case, It seems I've learned all I need to know. A reply at this point is evidently of little if any value.

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

@Kirk I'm starting to see difference, yes. Your "law" is a narrow, and (seemingly) uninformed interpretation. I have no personal law myself, other than the laws I've dealt with as years as a paralegal.

It doesn't look like we'll come to any common ground though, so let's please end and avoid the risk of further insults and the like.

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

TG1

@Kirk Perhaps that is true. In my case though (and several others in this thread) it''s demonstrably not the case. Simply pointing out the law (and surrounding complexities) is clearly not the same as "arguing in favour of the corporations." I genuinely hope you can come to that realization; at the very least it'll help make your arguments more focused.

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

TG1

@Kirk I'm not arguing in favor of a corporation Kirk, and frankly don't appreciate your assumption that I'm a "corporate lackey". I'm just pointing out a fairly obvious observation. While I appreciate your comparisons, they aren't apt in this case. You are free to your own opinions naturally. I respectfully disagree and err on the side of the law, as likely Microsoft is as well. Disingenuous releases like NESBox (no matter the field of entertainment) are well documented for getting into legal trouble.

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

TG1

@Kirk "totally legal emulator"

Again, the naming alone of this emulator is more of an issue than you might realize. Microsoft was well within the law to deny a product called NESBox, which almost certainly would be destined to fall under legal challenge by Nintendo.

Naming aside, they are within their right regardless, but I'm not interested in discussing that here. Blame the developer for the disingenuous name if you're going to assign blame to someone.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Favourite Legend of Zelda Games - 30th Anniversary Edition

TG1

@SNESDisney These are simply the opinions of both the NL staff & their fans.

It's also a list of favorites, not a list of games that made the most impact on the series. That is why, unsurprisingly, the original game is nowhere to be found. I love it, but am honest enough to admit that is has been surpassed in a multitude of ways.

I respect your distaste of revisionist history, but you are just as guilty of it. Saying Wind Waker "almost killed interest in Zelda" is demonstrably untrue. It's a 'pot calling the kettle black' scenario.

By all means disagree but, respectfully, calling NL "unprofessional" for their picks is certainly uncalled for.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th January (North America)

TG1

@Xenocity By all means continue to think what you want, no matter how much of an outlier your opinion is. Do realize however that your opinions are in serious conflict with both of the sources you cited.

Stating that a 90 is viewed as "average or crap" is an ignorant comment, demonstrably untrue.

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash (3DS)

TG1

I'm surprised to see how many gamers will decide to pass on a title based on a single review. At a minimum, it's a premature reaction.

Based on everything I've seen and read, I'll probably be grabbing this game before the end of the year.

Re: Mario History: New Super Mario Bros. 2 & U - 2012

TG1

@RainbowGazelle Not sure for all of them off the top of my head, but at least for NSMB2 you just need to click on the options banner at the bottom of the screen. Under 'Controls' change the default to Type 2. Give it a try, if you're like me you'll find the setup superior. Like @eaglesfly76 said, the controls really are tight, and the more comfortable setting really lets that be shown.

Re: Mario History: New Super Mario Bros. 2 & U - 2012

TG1

@RainbowGazelle Certainly you're allowed to dislike the games. Calling the controls abysmal though reflects curiously on you, especially when your complaint is so minor. Simply adjust the controls so you don't have to hold Y - that's what I do, and it makes the game(s) very comfortable.
