Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Drag x Drive?

Sylverstone

I'd be between a 6 and 7 personally. Had a lot of solid matches with people and the controls are very good (plus HD Rumble 2 really shines through), but I do understand that the whole package can feel a bit barebones.

Rating it a 1 is laughable because that should be reserved for games that are broken beyond belief, and Drag x Drive is absolutely playable.

Re: Poll: Was The Nintendo DS Prototype Really So Ugly?

Sylverstone

The prototype was definitely a work-in-progress, but I can't see how people think the NTR-001 launch model was downright ugly.

Good silver finish, the buttons were a decent size, it had the look of a premium product that was unlike the toy-like Game Boys of years prior.

The DS Lite is great in its own right and I do think it was the right decision to do a proper redesign, but I think people latch on to it so much more because it was either their first DS or for those that disliked the OG model, they really wanted the DS to match PSP on sleekness and dare I say, "sexiness".

The launch model was not bad on aesthetics at all, and it's annoying that any DS perspective I've read or watched in the last decade or so always slags it off as some ugly duckling. It's the lowest of low-hanging fruit.

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite On Switch Is Five Years Old, And I Have No Idea What It Is Anymore

I know most folks felt that they were "too cool" for this game, and I did fall into that headspace for a while, but I actually came to enjoy the game a lot more as of late.

Building became a bit too necessary to survive and I never liked having to contend with someone who could build a 50-ft tall structure the moment I pop a shot at them. Zero Build gets rid of that and it feels like I can reliably hold my ground.

Nowadays, I play on/off with friends, getting some characters and silly dances I like, and just having a fun time. It's been a good chill game to unwind, but it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

Plus it is seriously the best free-to-play game on the market that doesn't try to actively nickel and dime you for everything under the sun.

Re: EA's Financial Figures Reveal Dismal Wii U Software Sales

Sylverstone

Well, they only released one Wii U game in 2013 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted U.

Plus with a gimped version of both Madden and FIFA with none of the new features that PS3/360 had, and an admittedly great port of Mass Effect 3 by Straight Right (though lacking the DLC), EA wasn't going to make bank at all.

They made nothing new with their own properties (through EA Sports), while Criterion (NFS:MW) and Straight Right (ME3) actually gave the ports a fresh lick of paint and noteworthy features.
