Re: Poll: Do You Think Nintendo's New Animated Short 'Close To You' Is Pikmin Related?

Sulleymonster

Nintendo trying their hardest to turn what were unique ips into Disney Pixar cookie cutter output.

Theme parks, animated movies, character redesigns to match said movies, dumbed down first party titles.

Soon we will be able to say "I played the game and it felt and looked just like the movie" ... all while waiting in line to slide down a green pipe.

Pikmin was hands down my most beloved creation in gaming. I'm glad I've left Nintendo, the switch and it's sequel behind. I crave the creativity of old Nintendo but the direction they have chosen is disappointing for me.

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

Sulleymonster

Well I sold my Switch 2 after only two weeks. It just didn't feel like a 2025 upgrade. Maybe if it was released 18 months ago it may have.

With the lack of any big announcements apart from another mario kart installment and from what I can see I would be better off sticking with mk8. MP4 may have changed things for me but I'm not waiting around.

It just felt Nintendo were really taking me for a ride, a £430 console and the most exciting thing for me was playing links awakening and echoes in a smoother frame rate (not prefect in handheld still !) while a nice perk it's not what a new console should be all about.

Add another £53 for cyberpunk (so now just shy of £500 !) which was nice to play handheld in bed but the novelty wore off quickly. It's simply more enjoyable on a big display so played mostly docked. I had a nagging feeling that Nintendo have taken a step too far with this S2 release and I if I'm going to play docked there are much better ways to play a game like cyberpunk.

I found most of the first party releases on the Switch to be pretty childish and lacked the imagination of Nintendo of old, believe me I played them all. Only Dread and Pikmin 4 stood out for me.

Seeing Death Stranding 2 released tipped it for me. A game no matter how well optimised will never run consistently smooth on the Switch 2, a game we would be waiting years for. I refuse to get excited about the inevitable OG death stranding switch 2 release and pay through the nose for it with the only benefit being a portable experience that will no doubt be inferior.

So I sold it and made my money back.

This week I purchased a ps5 with death stranding 2. My first non Nintendo console since the PS2.

Sorry Nintendo but the innovation in your games has not been there for some time. Please prove me wrong and I'll be there for the S2 revision.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

Sulleymonster

@foursider thanks for checking. It sounds similar to what I see playing handheld. The vines / thorn bush looks dreadful with extreme flickering. Did you see this ?

It's a shame none of this mentioned in Nintendo Life's video comparison where Felix states the issue is fixed. The most taxing area wasn't even tried and it's not even stated whether it was tested docked / handheld.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

@foursider I've been saving links awakening and echoes for an update as I struggled with FPS and blur applied to the top/bottom of the screen. Like you this has been the highlight of a £400 system and while I'm happy original S1 games can fully breath, I still have the nagging feeling that this system should have been released 18 months ago.

I've only bought cyberpunk as nothing else interests me. Nintendo nest have some aces up their sleeve for the rest of the year.

Can I ask a favour ? Would you test out the swamp area in LA handheld on the S2 ? It still really struggles on mine and there is no mention of it in any comparison vid I've seen yet. The one on this site didn't even visit the area. An area known to grind to a halt.

Re: Outer Wilds' Final Switch Update Improves Visuals, Gameplay, And UI

Sulleymonster

I've been looking forward to playing this for what feels like an eternity ! Happy to wait if the fully updated game is included on the cart.

Pre-ordered at 365games for £25 so very happy.

I bought Lorelei (even though I was waiting for the physical announcement/release) to tide me over and it's a wonderful game. Looks like I'll be playing two unbelievable games back to back.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Koral, A Switch Puzzler Developed Entirely At Sea

Sulleymonster

@carloscoronado I would love to give this a test and provide feedback if possible. The game looks stunning and hopefully will provide an extremely mediative experience. Has a very similar feel to the game Everything, which is one of my favourites, but with clear goals and challenges allowing for a more defined role and immersion into the gameplay. Hope this game is a big success as it will bring awareness and educate to the current state of the oceans health in a fun way, also highlighting the beauty that we are at risk of losing.

Re: Review: Hob: The Definitive Edition - Panic Button Strikes Again With Another Exciting Switch Port

Sulleymonster

@nofriendo totally agree. There are a few reviews from small Nintendo review sites that mention the drop in visuals when in handheld mode and also frame rate issues. It's a shame such a trusted website failed in this review to highlight anything other then the superficial. I will give it a few more days before purchasing for some more reviews that provide more clarity.

Re: Deals: Charge Your Switch On The Go With This Black Friday Power Bank Bargain

Sulleymonster

Come on guys do your research. Of course they are not the same model abliet the Nintendo logo. As stated earlier the official Nintendo version has usb C power delivery in/out, allowing a full charge of the battery in 3 hours and charging the switch as fast as the it would when docked. Also it is optimised for the switch charging slightly quicker then other PD power banks.

I bought one last week at very for £39.99 in the half price sale. Excellent charger for the switch.

Re: KORG Gadget Releases Worldwide Next Week On The Switch eShop

Sulleymonster

@Jayenkai let's hope so. The new one player octo expansion for splatoon 2 was a welcome suprise a year later so there's always the possibility of support. Although I'm guessing that to keep the distinction between switch and iOS versions it's probably going to be unlikely. Why sell one product when you can sell two ... Or even three !

Re: KORG Gadget Releases Worldwide Next Week On The Switch eShop

Sulleymonster

@Jayenkai that's quite a hefty reduction and probably worth waiting for. Such a shame that there is no export on the switch as I don't have an iPad for portable music creation. Even though all in one, for me it's a nothing more than a bit of fun if it's self contained. It looks like they priotised the gaming element for the switch to separate it from the iOS versions.

Re: KORG Gadget Releases Worldwide Next Week On The Switch eShop

Sulleymonster

@Jayenkai thanks for the mini review I found it helpful. Without export this is a bit pointless. A purchase will depend on whether this and touchscreen controls are fixed at a later date. At nearly £40 I think I will spend it towards the Mac version and hope they address the limitations of the switch port soon.

Anyone know whether the $299 price ever drops in a sale or is it pretty solid ?
