Re: Soapbox: Chasing The 'Real' Monster Hunter Rise Ending Has Restored My Faith In Online Gaming

I've always enjoyed the online part of previous Monster Hunter games, but in World and especially in Rise it's been much worse. Not only because the old lobby system made you actually connect with other players over several quests, but also because the monsters now scale with the number of players, which makes them easier to solo. That, and the crazy amount of lightning and particle effects makes it impossible to see what is happening when 4 players plus palamutes and palicoes fight at the same time.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

To me, I really like to start with older games in a series, not for story reasons, but to understand how the gameplay mechanics have evolved. Very often, new mechanics are added to a new game in a series not necessarily to make the game better, but to change things up. There are countless examples of this, but I'll take Pikmin as an example. The addition of new types of pikmin in Pikmin 2 is really cool if you come from the first game and have already learned how to use the yellow, blue and red pikmin. New pikmin types! Cool, right? Well, if Pikmin 2 is your first game in the series you kind of feel like the purple and white pikmin are a little lame. Starting with Pikmin 1 will make you appreciate the mechanics of Pikmin 2 so much more. And this is how it works for many other game series.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'Second Wind' Mod Videos Targeted By Nintendo

I mean, of course this is a ***** move by Nintendo, but sadly, if their actions are close to legal, they have enough money to stay safe.
Edit: I find the censoring of words like this hilarious. Now everyone who reads it will still read the word in their own mind, so the only difference is the actual letters aren't there. It's like believing the spelled out word has some kind of magic power that the censored version doesn't.
