Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Arceus - One Of The Greatest Pokémon Games Ever Made

@fafonio I actually did end up playing it early as well if you’re interested. Played the first few hours or so. The beginning is super handholdy but after a bunch of dialogue, the game was pretty fun. Game looks and runs like garbage, but the catching of Pokémon and exploring is fun and rather satisfying. From what I experienced, it’s a very decent game

@Specter_of-the_OLED People love the series because it came out at the right time. Edgy nonsense with the writings of a madman appealed perfectly to the young kids and teens of the era. It’s also why some people choose to get into the series nowadays.

Arena Ultimax is a great game (in terms of gameplay anyways, don’t care for the story), but goodness, this feels like a tone deaf decision. I’m pretty sure the switch owners were begging for the RPGs, not the fighting game. Regardless, I’ll pick this up, just not on switch.

Also please have rollback netcode

@Dr_Lugae Are you not counting the 3rd versions that came out? The only games that didn’t reach that number was X & Y, but it had the Gen 3 remakes the pick up the slack.

Also those “other reasons to play” either super simple or something that’s already existed. Camp? It’s Pokemon amie, but you can throw a ball and make some curry in like two seconds. Wild Area? An unoptimized patch of nothing. If that’s effort, then they’re not doing a good job.

@Dr_Lugae …So did you miss everything else I said? National Dex missing is only one part of the problem. Also what slump are you talking about? The sales for the series have been consistently hitting over 20 million units, and that was also during the era where pirating DS games were easy as pie.

Also your argument doesn’t make sense. If they’re not going to put that effort towards giving us features that the past games had that were also well liked, where’s that effort going? This new title looks like a Unity project, because guess what? It is

I don't see the issue here. If you're doing a s*** job, you're going to get angry criticism. Playing through the leaked game showed me that despite the amount of complaints they got from SWSH, they're still not improving. The idea of "making something accessible" doesn't mean jack when your series is already one of the highest grossing franchises on the planet.
Here's a list of features people wanted, yet they haven't been implemented:

  • People want the national dex.
  • They want post games.
  • They want Mega Evolutions.
  • They want remakes to include the best version's features.
  • They want difficulty settings.
  • They want an EXP share toggle.
  • They want an end to retailer-exclusive distributions.
  • We want GTS trading in the games.

This franchise has been on a steady decline since Gen 6, but it's a complete joke now
