Earlier this year in September, Inti Creates announced Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 for Nintendo Switch.
It's a direct sequel to the first game and takes on the form of a "speedy and stylish" 2D action platformer. This upcoming release will be made available next month, and ahead of its release, Inti Creates has revealed a Limited Run Games physical edition.
There'll be a standard edition ($34.99 USD) and a collector's edition ($64.99 USD) - which includes a copy of the game, an original soundtrack, 11 art cards, and a keychain. Pre-orders will open on 25th January 2022 and will close on 27th February 2022. Here's a look:
In addition to this, Inti Creates also announced the sequel would be getting "full English voiceover" support. Here's a message from the game's producer about it:
"The inclusion of English voiceover in LAiX2 is a first for a self-published INTI CREATES game! It’s something that I, your friendly neighborhood producer, have been hoping to do for a very long time, and let me tell you Gunvolt faithful, it feels so good to finally bring this goal to life. With the help of the wonderful Diana Garnet (who some of you may know as the singer of the opening theme from Dragon Marked for Death and the English voice of Joule in the Gunvolt OVA anime!), we put together an incredible group of voice actors to bring this cast of characters to life. Hearing characters speak English in a self-published game just hits different, and I sincerely hope you enjoy experiencing the game with English voiceover!"
The game will include Japanese voice acting if you would prefer this and it'll also come with the Kohaku Otori boss battle DLC. Here's the talent that will be providing the English voices for the characters in the game (you can see full character art over on Inti Creates' website):
- Copen – Alejandro Saab
- Lola – Cassandra Lee Morris
- Kohaku – Kira Buckland
- Null – Natalie Rose Hoover
- Dacite – Connor Colquhoun
- Vespa – Brittany Cox
- Autochrome – Daman Mills
- Brigade – Steve “Warky” Nunez
- Hail – Jennifer Losi
- Ace – Arin Hanson
Earlier today Inti Creates hosted a live stream featuring special guest 'CDawgVA' (who is also one of the game's voice actors):
The digital version of this title will arrive on 27th January 2022. Will you be adding a physical copy of Luminous Avenger iX 2 to your Nintendo Switch library? Drop a comment down below.

Not my type of genre but I'll always appreciate good spritework!
Oh my God! Connor (CDawgVA) is in this!
I’ve still got to play the first one. Love the Azure Striker games, so perhaps I’ll get the two of them at once next year… though I’ll do it digitally.
Best news all week!
Wait, was there a physical version for the first game? I don't remember that coming out
Yes may get the physical version soon, the first one was great though it took a bit long for LRG to shipped it but did definitely get it.
Don't know why they use Akira in the Japanese VO but called him Copen in English. Akira is the cooler name imo
Anyway, very excited for this, Copen's games are far better than it's mainline counterpart, Gunvolt
@Sora181
Yes, by Limited Run Games as well
Very cool, I''ve been waiting for this announcement.
The JP and Asia region pre-orders have been open for some time now, but I wanted this release specifically.
@NintendoPete Explains why I didn't know about it. It's probably rare now
Bought all prior titles and will continue here. Whilst not as great as the Zero / ZX games, the series fills a niche I feared lost to time.
Glad about the choice of VO’s, for a moment I feared a return to Megaman ZX Advent and its awful English dub. Which reminds me, can you choose Japanese Voice Acting on ZX & ZX Advent on the Zero Collection?
@FX102A
The Zero & ZX Collection is limited to playing either the JP or US releases of the games.
Which means you can't pick and choose the regional differences and still enjoy the English language.
You have to put up with ZX's lack of voice acting, or the Zero series lack of blood splatter effects, at least when playing in English.
My ears always perk up when inti creates is mentioned.
I guess Inti Creates did not learn it's lesson when it Limited Run Produce their last physical edition that took almost a full year to get in the hands of players. Hell I am 6 months out on the physical of Zombies Ate My Neighbors and they are saying it will be out second quarter of '22. So in other words another year wait from order to in hand. The sad part about "Zombies", it was in manufacturing before the pre-sale and they still can't get it out on time.
Great series, it's basically a spiritual successor to the 2D Megaman ZX games. If you liked the ZX series you should give this a try.
@Bizzyb I'd love to if the physical versions wheren't so hard to find
@Sora181 yes there was. It was a regular release though not some limited run crap. Why do these companies do this crap. Buying a physical copy shouldn’t mean waiting a another year to get it.
Limited run needs to start making copies set for release date. They could easily do a set for release and then one after release if the demand requires it. Maybe even give the perks to the release date copies as well. This whole waiting 9 months for it is ridiculous.
@Sora181
Not really - in Japan there is a multi language version

The bosses look cool. But I'm gonna pass, because I truly cannot stand Copen.
@JustMonika That's the only reason I'm gonna buy this game lol
@Sora181 Unfortunately these were Limited Run releases, so if you missed it at launch then you'll (most likely) have to pay market prices. If I were you I'd be sure to grab this one at least.
Hopefully you can find an reasonably priced physical copy of the other titles
@Bizzyb Damn. Thanks for the heads up. If the price isn’t too much higher then digital, I’ll grab it. I hate this limited run non sense though.
@NintendoPete that’s a bit too pricey, plus importing fees. Guess I’ll suck it up and grab it digital unless they release a double pack like they did with the regular Gunvolt games
FINALLY ENGLISH VOICE ACTING!!! Am I the only one who appreciates english voice acting even if it's not great around here?
@Sora181 just get digital then it's what I do
@AstralRedStar705 I vastly prefer having physical games. I only get digital games if I really wanna play it the night of release
@Sora181 I kinda understand i like to get physical for at least most of my games unless their eshop or just smaller games, or if I can get a really good sale price I might do it. I might try to get more physical though I do see the appeal other than the price, especially for indies.
