Re: Review: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (3DS eShop / NES)

This was my first castlevania game. I still have the NES cartridge. It was my favorite of the three original.
@unrandomsam
You're spot on about the music! If anyone gets the chance, look up the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast about Castlevania. They play the music side by side. It's an incredibly stark contrast. If we got the Famicom music in the virtual console release, I would buy it in a heart beat. My NES works great though and it's hooked up to an appropriate CRT tv.

Re: Download Developer Hits a "Brick Wall" When Trying to Reach Nintendo Indie Executive for Interview

What a disheartening article. Nintendo while I love you, you have to wake the hell up! Are you actively trying to tank your company? That certainly is what it feels like sometimes. Yea, I know they have a huge war chest of billions of dollars. What good is it though when everyone turns their backs on you due to stupid problems of your own making! If Nintendo fails one day, it will be their fault due to their stubborn refusal to adapt and change with the times. You can't just ride the coat tails of the Nintendo name any longer. You act as though you are still a impenetrable force to be reckoned with. You aren't. Not when Microsoft, Sony, Apple, Google and Amazon cast larger shadows that you. To compete, you have to be the guys that freaking work harder! Show the world why you're still the best! Forget the past, because it is irrelevant in the world of Moore's Law. You can be proud of your heritage, but if you're going to insist that the world live in the 80s with you, then you're party will become a funeral dirge.

Steamworld Dig was an absolutely fabulous game. It was inventive and hooked me from its opening. I played straight through the game and will go back for 100% orbs. It incorporated some of the best things about Meteoid and added its own unique flavor, elements and design. Any success they garner from it is well deserved. I'm very much looking forward to the company's next endevour.

Re: Nintendo Involved In Patent Dispute Over Wii U's Dual Screen Capabilities

This patent troll crap has to be stopped at the government level! I did a quick search on the company Secure Axcess to see how legit they are. In recent years, they sued Dell Computers over the use of encryption technology to make servers secure. They the. Went ahead and sued JP Morgan Chase, First Citizen Bank, and Harris Bank over the use of login pictures (sometimes companies make you login and then pick an image that you selected upon account creation).
These guys are very active patent trolls. This type of litigation gets very expensive and time consuming. Nintendo may just settle, but that doesn't mean they stole anything. Also, the case is being filed in Texas. This is because the state has regulations that support patent trolls.

The closest thing to a metroid game that I've played recently was steamworld dig. It felt very metroid. You explore a desolate world. You get numerous power ups as well. There were many differences of course, but at its heart was that of Samus'. I couldn't stop playing steamworld dig. I played right through the whole game within a couple of days (I think my ultimate time was 9ish hours). Upon completion, I was a little sad because I wanted more. What I really want however is more metroid!

I hate the fact that the game goes on weight alone to create your mii's appearance. I'm 6'2. I weigh 235 pounds. Sounds fat right? Except for the fact that I'm actually not. I work out all the time. My wife is a personal trainer. She is 5'3. She weighs 140. She's freaking ripped! Abs of steel. According to her Mii, she's a bit over weight. We did the trial, but since there's no way to reduce her mii's size other than tell her to stop lifting weights, she's stuck with it. I can live with a comically chubby mii. She can't. So hence, no full game purchase.
