Obviously several generations was a slight misspeak when he really meant several years. Why do we have to crucify people for using the wrong word on accident when we all know what was meant to be said?
It's great that they've become so skilled at the nuances of the Wii U. A small indie company that is taking risks and taking the time to learn the ins and outs of the system. I wish every gaming company was as spartan and intellectually curious as Shin'en is. I see big things coming from a company like this.
Fire Emblem and Super Metroid. Also, Tank tank tank with my 5 year old. I must say, it's a pretty fun game when playing with a little kid. He gets a kick out of taking pictures of himself with a pirate frame or as a gorilla for his avatar. If you have little kids, spend 15 bucks on a couple of modes. Highly worth it.
It is a bit sad. Graphics have in many cases been put in place of exploration. The point of games when I grew up was that you died a million times trying to find something. You fell down holes repeatedly until you aced a jump. You got lost for hours until something clicked and you found your way out of a situation. Now there's a little blinking arrow you follow the whole time. Or a camera pans to show you what you need to do. Figure it out. You'll get more than enjoyment. You'll get satisfaction. I think that's why we retro gamers cling to these dusty old games. Satisfaction is something that can be used as a growing experience. Happiness is fleeting. Happiness can be gained from satisfaction. Satisfaction can not be gained from happiness.
I wonder how the interface between the original and the DLC version will be. If you have NSMBU, will you need to insert the disk to fire up the Luigi version, or will it be a stand alone icon on the WiiU menu
I think it's a great move to have the two "old school" companies team up to combat the "new school". It's a move that further cements the idea that you don't have to stay in lock step with one direction of gaming. Why not boldly proclaim that we are giving you something different. We are taking gaming in a different direction. If you want to buy EA and things like that, go Sony. If we speak to you, buy us. Product differentiation is going to be increasingly crucial to Nintendo if they wish to survive in the future. This partnership is one positive small step in a series of steps and leaps that will be vital for their longevity. Embracing indie developers wholly is another that they've been gaining a lot of traction on. Next is creating new IPs that excite gamers and speak to everyone.
There's still cleavage in it though. It's weird that a butt garners more censorship than that. Even the Nintendo Video cartoon of Kid Icarus had a naked Paulentina taking a bath with her bountiful cleavage pressed up against the side of the bath. I'm not complaining, I just don't understand what the big deal is with a bikini clad butt given the acceptance of cleavage.
It's not a bad idea really. At least they're not putting a stop to them. My son likes to make these. Adding a Nintendo ad to it kind of boosts its legitimacy.
Additionally, with Nintendo desperately needing new killer IP's, attracting new ideas to the company via young talent could very much work well in both programmer and Nintendo's favor.
There. Understand that? No? Now you know how I feel.
Ps. It's amazing how much of the above gibberish that I typed was continually highlighted by my iPhone for auto correct. No autocorrect, hg doesn't mean ghost, and fkhghjj doesn't mean gingham!
So we can play Tetris and that's it. What about violent books? You know what? I think all violent books should go away, we need to round them all up and destroy them. I guess we should gather together and throw them all in a big bonfire. Lets call it a book burning. You can throw all media into it that contains any violent, sexual or subversive messages! Lets protect our kids from this evil and join hands in solidarity! We need a strong leader to motivate the crowd. One that will commit to executing this plan with an iron fist. I hear there's this German guy who is up to the task. I forget his name though. It's a funny name like Aldo or Alvin... Oh wait, Adolf! I was way off!
If we allow free speech, thought and art to be censored, we travel down a scary path...
All of us have been saying the same thing. It seems as though they are trying not to sell systems and despite this effort to not sell, 3.5 million still ended up in homes.
It was cool to seem Shiggy in a Rolling Stones article, but it seemed like a crappy interview. It maybe had 13 quotes from him pasted across 18 pictures and googlable facts about the games slapped in for filler. How about a real Q&A interview? Proving once again that Rolling Stone is style over substance.
Well... Between this and of course the defunked Factor 5, there's as much chance of seeing rogue squadron on the WiiU virtual console as there is ice in hell...
Yikes! The stuff miyamoto was saying sound awfully familiar to what they have continually said about WiiU... "Don't worry, we'll get around to making games and it'll take off" or "Our consumers have been saying we're not doing a good enough job of advertising and promoting its great features"... 16 years later, please learn.
This will be great. Right now when I open Netflix, I'm bombarded by children's programming. I have to dig to find shows I may actually like. With my Tvii linked to my personal account, I should be able so eliminate Dora the explorer and caillou from popping up.
If there's a way to pay for a game, then it's wrong in my eyes to emulate/pirate it. However, if there is no way to pay a company for a 20 plus year old game due to non existant companies... It gets a little grey.
Why do people worry about what the creator of Fez says. Fez sucks. It's not in the best 10, 20 100 or even 5000 games. It's a stupid little game that conveyed intellectual vacancy. Go back to programming school, zip your lips, and focus your time into delivering an original game with a unique story line. Since you are perhaps in capable of this, you hand out judgments on other's work. Go back to your computer screen and create for once.
I'm holding out for now. I've downloaded almost every eShop only game thus far (with the exception of Kens Rage and Aurora) and I'm pretty set on staying with disks for now, do space on the 32gb system really isn't an issue.
If it sells a large amount of copies, DLC will come. It just may not make sense for them to make DLC for the amount of projected purchasers that would support such transactions.
It would be interesting to have Zelda take a more aggressive role in the new Zelda game. Based on OOT, we know she can kick but if need be. At least make a game where you switch between Zelda and Link for certain areas of the game, eg Batman and Catwoman in Arkham City.
Nintendo jumped the gun on the WiiU. This situation is proof. I have a WiiU (NNID Yossarian22) and I enjoy it. However I haven't purchased a Retail game since I bought it at Christmas! I buy Nintendo for Nintendo. At it's launch, we saw Nintendoland and NSMBU. The next first party game (Pikmin 3) doesn't release until sometime in April! Waiting five months after a system is launched for a new first party title is just unacceptable! The 3DS has been able to average about one first party game at least every three months, with spatterings of shorter durations than that (eg Marioland 3d and Mariokart and Fire emblem and luigis mansion). Assassins creed and mass effect are fine, but those games don't sell me on a the most expensive system that is currently on the market. Give me games I can't possibly play on the PS3 or 360. I buy Nintendo for Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Mario, Fire Emblem and Smash Bros. I will buy third party games for sure! I love Arkham City, I will buy Lego city and wonderful 101. I'll buy Sonic Racing and Rayman and Darsiders. I've bought most of the eshop only games and love them all! But none of the third party games that I listed would sell me on a system. Zelda makes me open my wallet. Unfortunately, after Pikmin's release we may have to wait another 5 months for another 1st party title to emerge. I understand the need to get your system out before the competition, but games need to be there to support it! With out 1st party games, you can cut the WiiU's price all you want. The system just won't move! Also, for god sake, would you at least attemp to advertise for the thing! I would bet $1000 bucks that if you asked randomly on the street what the difference between a Wii and WiiU was, the majority would still have no freaking clue! Kicking my soapbox to the next in line.
There seems to be a bit more of an insidious side to this. Are they seriously going to support these games forever with server support? I doubt it. So if I try to play a five year old game that formerly required online play, but servers have been since disabled or the company went out of business, is by game useless? Oh darn, I guess I'll have to move on and buy the newest game in the franchise... This sucks. I'm all for adding whatever online options you want to a game, but if I can't decide play an "older" game whenever I want, then that's pretty shady.
Yep, if it displays 3D using a method different than this guy's patten, then there really is no suit here. Especially if Nintendo proves that multiple 3D vendors were met with and another bid ultimately won, which will be very easy.
I can't wait until one day a person can buy a Madden game and will be forced to buy DLC to play right away. "You have to manage the team properly to earn money to buy shoulder pads and helmets. Even the football! For those that dont want to invest the 50 hours of boring office room gameplay in which you have to fill out forms the whole time, you could buy all the equipment for another 20 bucks and get right into the game. You don't have to buy the equipment, but it's there for a quick enhancement. Also, you'll be able to purchase cybernetic implants to run faster, jump higher and throw further! This will give you an unfair advantage when played online yes, but we're not forcing you to do anything!" EA, you suck.
