Even if the figures aren't sold in the US or Europe, it would be nice if the NFC portion was not locked to us. Then we could at least maybe find some figures on eBay. Or maybe we could get the figures through club nintendo. One could only hope.
I get it, but it something about that franchise only approach seems to me to be creatively stifling. That being said, you can't just continually make a labor of love with no return on your investment.
They are free and all, but this is the lamest group of gifts yet! I'm getting the soundtrack, but I doubt I'll really add it to my iPhone's playlist... A far cry from the statue a few years ago or even the button collection 2 years ago. I little disappointing.
I can smell the burning metal now. They should release a boxed version with a scratch n sniff sticker included. That way you could scratch that and get a burnt metal smell and really get emersed.
That will be awesome! New weapons blending modern with the past would be cool too. I know steam punk sometimes has the market cornered on this, but regardless, keep the imagination flowing!
My oldest son and I both have a 3DS. It can definitely be a way to share bonding experiences. My wife got a 3DS so she wasn't left out of the mix. I have been replaying through skyward sword with my 5 year old (middle son). It's fun to watch him succeed and be able to step in where he's flailing. Show him dad's mad skills. Nintendo gaming is a family endevour in our family for sure.
I love fire emblem. It's a great unique tactical rpg, but with uniqueness brings niche appeal. Right now, Nintendo needs to sell systems, hence mass appeal mode must be engaged. That I'm sure doesn't mean that fire emblem U won't see the light of day. If in 5 years from now another 40 million systems are sold, we may see the game at the latter part of the WiiU's life span.
Check out www.vgchartz.com There's a lot of great info here regarding games sales data. Keep in mind for new releases that data is only updated once a month (on the 15th of every month). It does show interesting things. The crappy port sales were extra crappy. I think only 40,000 copies of mass effect were sold! Similar abysmal numbers for other old ports trended on the WiiU. Third party titles that launched at the same time as the other systems showed some success. Sonic & Sega all star racing transformed sold 240,000 copies. The same number as on the PS3 and very close to Xbox 360. Games like Assassin's Creed III, while launched across all systems at all times, didn't do that great. It sold 5 million copies on the PS3, 4.5 million on Xbox 360, and only 160,000 on the WiiU. The only possible defense I could offer here is to wonder what percent of PS3 and 360 owners purchased the game. If its close to the WiiU owners percentage, then we need to compare apples to apples here. If we assume 80 million PS3s were sold world wide (based on estimates that I found online) that equates to around 5.5% of ps3 owners bought Assassin's creed 3. This is roughly the same percentage for the WiiU! As Iwata inferred, more system need to be sold. Once that happens, it would be stupid for third parties to ignore the WiiU as long as current titles are being placed on the system.
I agree with the fact that the Wii U has problems and clearly needs more support. That analysis is spot on. Pachter (which oddly enough just auto corrected to pachyderm) seems however to be actively campaigning against the Wii U. That is silly and juvenile. Point out where Nintendo needs to change and highlight the other systems all you want, but it simply sounds like here that he wants to take Nintendo out.
Well said Phil. The fact that the game was built to be massive from the start is fantastic. There is a lot of money you could pay for DLC, but how would that be handled? Part of the charm of the game is gifting and trading items to friends. If you buy DLC, and a friend didn't, would that player not be allowed to pick up the DLC item? This game is better for not facilitating paid DLC.
I played through almost all of the DS version. I have to say, not a fan. That crying baby Mario and co inspired not paternal protection instincts, but self loathing suicidal tendencies.
@theblackdragon Lol. That's right! Wow. My bad. I've played it so much lately that its just hard to remember a time before I had animal crossing. Days have stretched into weeks and time has looped around into a grand ball of muddled confusion. Take you're time and make great towns.
Not region locking is fine for those who are fluent in the language the game is being imported from, or for classic games where text doesn't add to the game. While I would have loved to have animal crossing when it was released in Japan, it would have been utterly useless to buy it as Japanese is not decipherable by me. I think at least a portion of the argument is that Nintendo can't control the quality if region locking is lifted. That makes sense to me. I understand however that its the gamers choice.
I'm fine with it. I have over 700 actual street pass hits on my almost 2 year old 3DS. I'd definitely be willing to shell out a couple of bucks for a new experience that will more than likely last quite a while
Platinum games have shown very nice support for Nintendo. I think he would do a great job. Nintendo, if you're not currently working on a star fox game, let him see what he could do! I think it would be fantastic
Recently myamoto, Iawata, Aonuma and now Konno. Between the for of these I will have a mighty army to win my last two hats. (Cue maniacal laughter). Too bad Reggie and Scott moffat's visits last year were unmatching colors.
It'll be a sleepless night on Saturday as I eagerly wait for midnight to download. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to download a 1 gb file. I have the fastest Internet comcast has. Coffee will be flowing long into the morning in my town of Chimeria... Unless I change it to the town of Bad Wolf. Maybe Skaro? Dang it, I can't settle on the name!
@Midnight3DS The guy meant years, not generations. We all know that is impossible. A new PS4 isn't powered enough for several generations. Take the overall text of his dialog and don't punish him for one tripped over word.
Why can we be freaking human beings! Why can't we just treat each other with a little thing called decorum? No, now it's all about trying to feel like a big shot by pointing out that a guy used an incorrect word!... If that's how you derive power in your life then I feel really sorry for you. Now of course you're going to continue with this childish little spiral of "no! He said generations!" Or "Generations man! That's what it says!" Or "Generations is at least 25 years! Look it up!". Have the self control and intellectual honesty to just let it go...
I have had the light come on a few times now... I'll have to think about it. Anyone who doesn't have the wii u cradle, get it! I love it. It's very solid and secure. It charges like a champ.
