Re: Talking Point: NFC And The GamePad Can Succeed If Nintendo Gives Players Control

Shworange

A NFC Nintendo themed world builder would be incredible! Make and customize your mushroom kingdom. Touch Samus to the game pad and you can now unlock SR-71 (or some world like that) that you build. Touch DK to the pad and you build his world. All worlds are interconnected and most importantly, you can visit friends or random people's worlds. Sign me up. The only road block would be Nintendo of course not implementing such a fantastic creation.

Re: Nintendo Wins Microprocessor Patent Dispute Over 3DS and DSi

That the price of running a successful business today unfortunately. Large companies like Nintendo become embroiled in these types of lawsuits every day. It's unfortunate, but justice usually prevails. The bad side is that it cuts dramatically into R&D budgets and innovation. I read recently that Apple's legal budget and costs have now exceeded R&D budgets on an annual basis. That is troubling for sure.

Re: AE Games Reveals Mad Men Football, High Impact Gridiron With "An Historical Twist"

Why not? My favorite baseball game of all time was basewars for NES where your players are all upgradable robots. Every time a bot gets tagged at a base, they fight each other. So awesome. Maybe Alexander the Great will be able to tackle napoleon. Or Gengis Kahn can run the ball on Stalin.
Give it a try, innovation is badly needed in the industry. I'm actually excited for this game.

Re: Soapbox: A Case For The Defence: Castlevania 64

I had the legacy version of the game where they changed a couple things and rereleased it like a year later. It really wasn't that bad. I remember enjoying it a lot. You could play through multiple times with different players that you could unlock. It was a large game and truly unique in its time. It was just limited by cartridge size.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Plans To Acquire Up To Ten Million Of Its Own Shares

Shworange

Buying all of these shares on the heals of a major drop in stock price... It sounds a little insider tradery to me. It will be interesting to see what the value of their stock does after the acquisition is complete. I would laugh really hard if the very next day, they announce a major game release, causing their stock to take a huge jump in price, and earning Nintendo millions in the process.

Re: Nintendo Has "Great Games" But Is Facing A "Structural Problem", According To Industry Analysts

Shworange

I guess it's kind of a waiting game for those of us not employed by Nintendo. Either they will figure out a great solution to this problem, or they will be forced to publish games on tablets, phones and other consoles. It's frusterating to all of us on the outside because we all love the company and want for it to do very well. There really is no other company around that I continually root for. To just wait and have faith that they'll innovate their way out of it, kind of sucks, but There's nothing else I can really do I suppose. Regardless, I'm sure we can all agree that Nintendo needs to make some major changes to claw their way back to profitability. Pachter is right about one thing. Unless they acknowledge there's a problem, this major problem will not and cannot be remedied.

Re: A Third-Party "Secret Developer" Gives an Inside Story of Working on Wii U

Shworange

It's definitely disheartening to hear. It shows that Nintendo really has to get better at cooperation and assistance. Waiting a week between communications is rediculous. As he pointed out, Nintendo will make fantastic first party games that will sell systems. That is true, but if Nintendo wants 3rd party support, it must show developers how it's done. Immediate feedback to questions and available developers to assisst important 3rd party developers and immediately necessary. If they can't fix that broken aspect of their business model, when the next system is released in 2017 (or so), the new developers meeting will be attended only by lonely cricket chirps.

Re: Cliff Bleszinski Seems Pretty Pleased With Nintendo's Willingness To Put Fun First

@GearsOfWarU
Well said. I can't get into FPS' right now. I need fun gaming experiences. Not that a great FPS won't come along, but another COD clone just won't due. My kids and I have also been playing a lot of NES Remix. It's awesome to watch them get excited for the old games. As a result, they're playing the NES Zelda and super Mario bros and just eating it up. Four player SMB3DW is on all the time, and my five year old loves excitebike. Crazy times. I much prefer that over a pleading child trying in vain to get me to allow him to play GTAV. (Maybe I get today's award for acronym usage?).

About 2/3rds of the way through the December 9th podcast episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Brian Redban asked Cliff what he liked better, Xbox one or PS4. He fired back, "Actually, I'm really into Nintendo right now. The new Mario is awesome and the new Zelda is amazing". It was a short little quote, but it's nice to see high profile names enjoying what we all know here is great.

Eventually we all run out of 1ups. Very sad. I watched the super Mario super show as a kid. It was great. I bought a couple seasons for my kids and they love em! The show was just silly and light hearted. It's nice to come home from work and one of my kids are now playing an episode. To be heralded through my door to "Do the Mario" is refreshing. Thanks Danny and Captain Lou!

Re: Epic Vice President Mark Rein Remains Unconvinced By Second Screen Gaming

Shworange

I don't get why people remain unconvinced! Even if it's only used for inventory selection, it's fantastic! Try playing the GameCube version of windwaker after playing through the WiiU version. Removing the necessity to pause the game to remap items or check the map is huge on its own! I can't wait for a WiiU Metroid where the map and inventory will just be there at all times.
