Huh, good to know my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, I did feel like something was weird with the resolution that made the game look worse. Now I don't have to bother fumbling around in any settings trying to fix it
@Vandy Dunno where you got the idea that SFV is doing that, their DLC plans are actually pretty generous. DLC characters will be patched in when they're finished and you can buy them with the in-game currency you get from doing fights. Or you can buy them with real money if you want them right away. It's very similar to the League of Legends business model.
DLC typically comes out after a game is finished. Extra map packs, characters, whatever that come out like this should be allowed to cost money unless the base game is an obvious butchered experience without it.
3DS is pretty great. The thing I hated about the DS library was too many games overusing the touch screen, such as Star Fox Command and the Zelda games. It felt like devs forgot the damn thing had buttons at all. The circle pad was the best thing that could've happened for the system. While the charm of 3D wore off in about a year and the region lock is still unbelievably stupid, 3DS had a sick library of games without relying on gimmicks.
This is totally the game where they would milk nostalgia from the most, you know Peppy's going to say "do a barrel roll" and Treehouse will be patting themselves on the back every time it happens
Yessss. I was worried about afterbirth not making it over to Wii U, glad they managed to squeeze out enough power from the system.
@UboaNoticedYou Same here, hopefully they patch out most of the random crashes in this version. I've counted about 10 times the game locked up in my experience, luckily the game saves often. Still an inexcusable amount of bugs in the port as of now.
@akaDv8R From what I remember hearing it's locked at 30fps because the game engine screws up and creates some graphical and physics problems. It would have been a lot more work fixing those for the sake of 60. TP runs in a modified Wind Waker engine, so that's Nintendo's excuse for both HD ports.
It's an understandable reason, but at the end of the day I get a sub-par product missing a crucial selling point. I don't mind the original running at 30, it was already running on ancient hardware at the time. But I'm not going to drop full price for a game I already played when I expect better from remasters in 2016.
Also thanks for being mature about this, hope you enjoy the game m8.
No framerate improvements at all for a $50-$60 remaster is a pretty lame deal. Imo there's no point in a remaster if your just gonna lock it at 30fps again.
People should just stop doing fan-made stuff for nintendo, it's clearly never worth it at this point. Might as well just email yourself a C&D before you even start
So instead of actually taking advantage of the crossover by including travel between both worlds they decided doing grass-desert-water-jungle-ice-fire-bowser again was a better idea? Uhhh...
People really tend to forget how much online play can improve a game. Star Fox Zero would actually be appealing if it had meaningful online modes. Instead I have to pretend to be excited for a lackluster looking game because "muh nostalgia," and Nintendo continues to waste the Star Fox series potential.
@ColdingLight Being a recognizable name in the community is what sponsors really care about because it promotes their brand the most. Liquid sponsors a lot of the OG Melee stars like Ken and KoreanDJ, even though they don't win anything. But people look up to those players anyway because of their legacy, and being associated with them is just good PR for Liquid. Smash players are cheap to sponsor anyway, so I doubt they would even bother dropping any of their players.
As for Chillin, he got some respectable 17th placings at CEO and TBH5 last year and is ranked the 54th best player in the world by MIOM. Really not a bad at all, he just gets completely outclassed by almost all of the other recognizable top players.
All they've said so far is that they are going to put Smash events on their website calendar and write a few articles. Nothing major to get excited for yet, if ever.
Well, RIP Smash Bros Melee and Wii U circuits then. It's a shame too, they really tried to make up for what happened in Anaheim with their 2015 run. We also got one of the best grand finals sets for Wii U that day.
3 maps at a time would be too much to handle for Nintendo gamers. Everyone knows the more you arbitrarily restrict your player the better your game is. Give them any kind of online convenience and next thing you know they'll want to talk with their friends in-game or something crazy like that.
@Sligeach It's basically baby's first alternative shooter. I probably would have loved Splatoon if I had never branched out from Nintendo. Right now the game is just too slow and boring, I'd rather just play TF2 or overwatch.
GOTY from Nintendo, uhhh... Woolly World was pretty alright. Most of what nintendo put out this year was pretty bad, but a yoshi game finally not sucking was a nice surprise. Super Mystery Dungeon I probably would have loved if it came out this year for PAL, so lol guess that ain't winning any awards.
Good thing they shut this down. Now I get to once again desperately try and defend more IP infringement garbage and pretend this company doesn't only care about how much cash I give them, cuz Nintendo and me are best friends.
@Bass_X0 There's no such thing as a "site's" opinion unless there was only one guy reviewing everything. It's just two different people with different opinions.
Makes me wonder if using a DLC character amiibo will unlock said character in-game if you don't already own them. It would suck if someone bought a Mewtwo for their kid (assuming all of the planets align on a full moon and the average consumer could walk in and buy one from a retailer) and then found out they have to shill out another 4 bucks just to use the thing.
The main character designs are... a bit underwhelming imo. Still looks promising. Love the game title. Hopefully they won't be too reliant on Banjo nostalgia.
Shigesato Itoi himself said he wouldn't mind seeing someone else make Mother 4, that's justified enough for me at least. They could hide behind that in case Nintendo chimed in. The thing about the Mother fandom is that they're way more passionate about the series than most people think. All of the fanmade stuff I've seen from them is pretty high quality. I'm excited to see this coming out so soon
