Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 22nd)

Ricube

I have to work today... But this morning and tomorrow are dedicated to a game I has in the backlog: L.A. Noire. It sometimes becomes boring and ripetitive but the story os becoming interesting. Between murders I'm playing Iconoclasts that I bought on sale. Really GREAT game and I'm really having lots of fun, I recommend it to all those who like puzzle platformers. I'm also playing a little bit Unrawel Two with my partner, in co-op it's better. But playing with a non-player is possible only in short bursts...

Re: PlatinumGames Open To Wonderful 101 Sequel, As Long As Fans Show Their Support

Ricube

When it was released on WiiU the game had a very small chance of becoming a best seller. I got it because I was still in the Bayonetta hype. And W101 is a very similar to Bayonetta in gameplay style, but different enough to deserve to be play, especially by those who like other platinum games. I think the most cumbersome part was controlling and drawing with the gamepad, especially the parts that used both screens were more confusing than fun. I hope the found a good solution to port it to one screen.

I was disappointed too, in the beginning, that they used Kickstarter, but now I'm glad they did. I got my physical copy pre-ordered for a very good price and can't wait to play it on the go (i would have done the same if it was being released in the typical way!). Over that, it's the first Kickstarter where I'm sure about the game's quality. So now I look more at the result than at the premise.
I really hope people who didn't play W101 yet don't treat this game or the Kickstarter campaign with prejudice. It totally deserves a second chance AND a sequel.

So many of you did not like this game? I know it has some flaws but it's also so over the top and full of originale ideas (even if the model is like bayonetta) that I had a really good time playing, but also got frustrated sometimes because of some missions that are actually too confuse, and the double screen did not help. They should also give the opportunity to creat the Morphs with simple inputs and not the "drawing" mechanic

@Smashfan502 The problem about amiibo is that I got the first one, Link, at launch, then I was thinking: "I could get another one" and bought Zelda. The I wanted to complete the triforce and Ganondorf came to my shelf, and so on. Now I have about 60. Sure I can afford them, I was being ironic, even if I have some pricing limits and never buy the when they are totally out of the right price range.

I should really watch out and read again after writing 😋. I know it's not an excuse but I'm not an english speaker so I do make mistakes, especially with letters that are not used in my language.
You can see the Koopalings feet when they expel from the kart (down+B). Banjo is totally Bear-foot and Kazooie Bird-feet 😁

@Smashfan502 I know it's not that terrible, and glad you learned to live with your problems (lots of "sane" people can't do that). I work in the mental health services, so I've known lots of great people who struggle but find their own way in life.
I love amiibo and have actually way too many than I could affort. I don't use anymore in games them but they are exposed in my living room and I somethimes just stop, touch and look at them. And I have some of the Zelda amiibos still in the cardbox, I feel sad opening them but I would like to. I didn't know about the Funko Movie... but I don't really care about them... I would like a Nendoroid figure instead...

@Smashfan502 I guess you weren't joking about the OCD and I understand it has to be pretty hard to live with. I had no impression about you trying to make fun, quite the opposite. And from your comments, you seem to be a very nice person! About Pit, you are right again. Now that you said it, i remember that I did cut the picture of the first time they presented the amiibo on some site on the internet. So that is actually a higher quality "amiibo" prototype than those they printed and distributed later. So I say it again, very careful and with attention to details!

Re: Nintendo Comments On How It's Handling Joy-Con Drift

Ricube

I've made both joy cons repair, for free. Not only for the drifting problem but also because ls and rs did not work as the led lights. Now the lights have broken again... I can see that they are small and full of technology, but they really should work on a permanent fix

Re: New Study Says External Issues Are More Likely To Blame For Gaming Addiction, Not Gaming Itself

Ricube

I can't really contribute at a research level, but working as a psychologist I often see young people who use gaming in a positive way and i do actually encourage them to play, because being able to play (in the wider sense of the term) is essential in everyone's life. I've also used videogames in therapy with children to improve social skills and frustration. Videogames are only a medium, like music or tv series and most people could potentially become an addicted when conditions in life are pathologic. I'm not against inserting gaming addiction in manuals about mental health, but the bigger problem today is still ignorance and stigma, especially in regards of mental health professionals. Anyways, also diagnostic manuals are not to be used by anyone because you can understand the underlying logic only if you have a training as a professional.

Re: You Can Now (Unofficially) Run Android On Nintendo Switch

Ricube

I think haking and the use people make of it is not really connected to news that get published. On the other side, getting android on Switch makes it work almost like a Nvidia Shield and that is actually interesting as it makes you use Geforce NOW for streaming games that are not otherwise available on switch. That should also be natively possible because of the Tegra chip. Games you play with that service are totally legitimate, because you need to use a Steam or Uplay or other accounts, so you still need to buy the games. I think Nintendo and Nvidia should release a Geforce Now app, even if with limitations or, let's say, a monthly fee. Or even an internal nintendo eshop, hosted by Nvidia servers, where publishers can sell their most heavy games and Nintendo still gets part of the income. I use Geforce Now on my PC as I got a Beta access and it works actually really great with my internet connection that runs at about 400Gbps. I also think Google Stadia is going to be a service I'll totally use because I've no intention in buying a powerful PC. Nintendo is already doing streaming in Japan on switch, so why not partner with Nvidia and get the most out of it as that service is already established?

Re: Get Discounts On Ubisoft And Devolver Digital Games In The eShop Sale (Europe)

Ricube

Then, I would like to ask you guys for advice about Starlink: i found it physical for 20€, but I don't want to buy all those expensive DLCs bc the base game seems very limited. Is the digital standard version enough to complete the game or will some parts still be locked behind paywalls? It seems to me that this game has been a commercial and pricing mess from the beginning. It triggers a psychological system that makes you think: "I should have bought the other version because it was cheaper/better". I'm still interested though. Thank you very much.

Re: Microsoft Asked The Studio Behind Cuphead To Bring The Game To Switch

Ricube

@LittleSplatling tell that to Netflix. Some people care about owning games, and it's people like us that follow gaming sites and are interested, but it's still a small part of consumers. I think that "normal" people don't care about owning games, they just want to "consume" games, like they now do with music and films. And they just want to have lots of material to consume with the minimum expense. Anyway, I would love Rare Replay too! And I think Microsoft knows that would be a bomb on a Nintendo console
