Genshin Impact has gotten a lot of attention thanks to the fact that it looks a lot like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but the game has slowly been shaping up into much more than that over the past few months.
The developer behind this ambitious cross-platform action RPG has now released the opening cinematic for the game, and while there’s little in the way of solid info, it does a fine job of setting the scene for the adventure ahead.
With 30 different characters and multiple locations – as well as nice-looking combat engine – Genshin Impact could end up being a surprise hit this year. It’s coming to Switch, as well as other consoles and smartphones.
I wonder how will be the gameplay. I was looking the pics. Looks a BoW clone. Are the good part about it and the bad part.
oh wow, looks awesome
That's it, I'm smashing my PS4.
Despite the game looking like a botw clone (even the trailer music reminds me of botw). Everything I've seen about it looks kind of cool. I just think people should not expect a similar gameplay
@Rhaoulos I don't get it: what does the PS4 have to do with Genshin Impact?
This developer despite taking heavy inspiration, is actually quite good at making games. I’m certain this will be a success. They make Honkai Impact 3rd for mobile, which for a mobile game, the quality is amazing.
Now a new game with physical controls! I’m excited.
@BlackKnight93 I think e meant this news:
@Damo Oh, some seconds too late
I’ll keep an eye on it looks promising.
@Ricube And the reveal of Genshin Impact involves PS4... how? (Aside the fact that the game comes out for every single platform, Android included)
@BlackKnight93 the joke
3Rhaoulos made, "That's it, I'm smashing my PS4" was referring to the news me (and Damo) linked. It was only a joke...
@Ricube Yeah I know that. I was referring to the guy of the video of the news you linked. Why would someone break a PS4 only because of the reveal of Genshin Impact? How are the two things even related? This is even more than the guy who broke a PS4 and cried like a baby only because Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to Steam....
They should give us a Demo for Switch owner and others besides the Testers.
Judging from the video, don't get excited Switch players, there's no way this trailer is taken from the Switch version. This level of graphics at that resolution running at 60FPS is certainly NOT running on Switch. This could be a great game to play on PC though.
Not yet confirmed for the west though, is it? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to be wrong.
@BlackKnight93 oh yes, sorry... I guess there are lots of people in the world that have serious problems or crave for mediatic attention, or both. Sure it makes no sense.
What's up with the awkward audio cut at the end?
I don't know, i smell a flop coming
The developers might have hurt themselves more than helped themselves because of it's uncanny resemblance to BOTW, there will undoubtedly be some comparisons between the two.
That's too much expectations to put on a new IP but relatively unknown developers.
But having said that, the game could sell gangbusters in China.
The scenery did give me a BotW feel but the combat is pure anime hack and slash (based on other beta test videos I saw). Along with attractive character designs, this game looks interesting to me. I'll be keeping my eye on it.
@BlackKnight93 An idiot decided to smash his PS4 in public when the game was first revealed. I'm just making fun of it
@Rhaoulos Yes, I figured it out eventually. I still don't know why someone would break a PS4 because of a super multiplatform game that has some similitaries to BotW. How are the two things even related? At least as much was the guy who broke a PS4 because of Horizon going to Steam, it had some connection. For this one I don't see it...
@BlackKnight93 I think at the time it was only confirmed for the PS4, though I could be mistaken
@Razer I'm definitely interested, once we know the release date and price etc I'll make a final decision but based on the last gameplay video I'm sold so I wouldn't be so quick to write it off as a disaster waiting to happen!
@BlackKnight93 The whole issue the guy and many other people had was that the game was heavily inspired by BOTW however at the time it was only confirmed for PS4 and PC (and maybe mobile). It was shown at a Sony event iirc, so this guy in a form of protest of it being so similar broke their PS4. And then it was eventually confirmed to come to Switch as well, pretty much showing that even Nintendo themselves don't care how "similar" the game is. All in all just a fanboy's over reaction of a supposed shameless clone coming to a competing platform.
@FlashBoomerang There are already gameplay videos of this game out there.
Now go find them.
@RudyC3 Well it is an Opening "cinematic" so of course it might not look like that tbh.
But it will still look great for sure.
@javiboy2 Breath of the Wild inspired games are games right now that I don't mind seeing more of and what other developers can push in terms of idea. For this title we just need to see some antagonist. As Zero once said......"What am I fighting foooooooooorrrrrrrrr??????"
