I've been a huge fan of their products for years, but if true, this could very well change that for me.

@BloodNinja I work in that space, so you’re preaching to the choir. The days of turning up a new physical server in your own racks is passé. Cloud services are the way to go (e.g. S3 buckets) which can be turned up on a dime when peak is high, and ramped down after the rush. I’d be very surprised if Amazon, Microsoft or Google aren’t able to provide the needed capacity.

The people who wrote these Nintendo Status Updates should know better…anything that precedes the word “but” is meaningless.

I can't help to think this was a missed opportunity to deliver Pac-Man Battle Royale to the home gaming community. That would have been so awesome!

Price them like a consumable item and people wouldn’t care so much.

I didn’t think this could be possible, but I find the practise of releasing games before they’re finished dirtier than the girl in the GTA picture.

Not only is there a lot of shovelware, but the interface is so slow and glitchy, it’s murder to browse.

I also wish they bring back a rating system like they had at launch (even a percentage based on binary votes would help).

I wonder how much of those subscribers have signed up for the Expansion Pack. Seems like mixed messaging to me.

@Goofus came here to say the same. The eShop is nothing more than a cesspool of garbage titles. It might be more tolerable to scroll through it to find a rare diamond in the rough - if only the interface didn’t stutter/hang as much as it does.

@garfreek Fair enough, and you’re probably right; it’s just not my taste. I’ve got a fair sized (over 300) board game collection so plenty to choose from when I have that itch, and Warioware Get it Together when craving mini games.

It’s a stretch, and surely an unpopular opinion, but I can only hope this total disregard for supply chain security just ends up in this being the last Mario Party. Perhaps it’s because I joined the party late (pun intended), but I can’t understand all the fuss about this series. Sure - the mini games are fun, but the overarching roll and move mechanism just brought me back to the time I had to play Candy Land and Snakes and Ladders with my young child.

I know it refers to vertical alignment, but what are the origins of the word TATE in particular?

Every time I see this word, I can’t help but think about another connotation of the word (search Urban Dictionary).

@ryancraddock IGN is reporting that this is the last major update - period, despite the specificity of what was said in the Direct. Do you have any insight on that?

@steely_pete The OEM screen protector as they call it is just a plastic layer to prevent the glass from shattering all over the place. I don’t reckon it will actually protect the display from scratches.

The one I linked is hardened glass and went on as soon as I opened up the package. JetTech is another brand I’ve used for all my devices and while the glass might crack from time to time, they are easily replaced and the device screens have remained unscathed.

I say get Blizzard involved somehow and let them turn it into a Mexican standoff, Reservoir Dogs style.

If they underestimated demand, I wouldn’t call it a modest start. I would consider it a modest start when the demand wasn’t quite there and there is surplus.

This doesn’t bother me in the least as I’m not interested in this game. I will say that storage methods can always be “reverse-engineered” or migrated to other platforms. While I admit I have no basis for my theory, I willing to take a blind guess and suggest the save file on the switch is possibly encrypted with a switch-specific key. Allowing the cross-save to work on another platform means that the key would also have to be copied over. If that key is used to protect something else, then the impact of getting to that key could be seen as too significant for the potential risk involved. Although they could always ‘export’ the save file in the clear. So who knows.

As I said, though, it’s just another theory.

@teamdoa +1. If Nintendo has documented this somewhere, then it could be considered as normal wear and tear or extraneous use w.r.t. warranty support. If they haven’t then, I would argue that it’s covered to some extent.

I was kinda hoping the wireless might have quietly gotten a speed bump, but oh well.

The price has gone up I think. Regardless, I’ve been a customer of SFBags and Waterfield products for years and have bought them for the Vita, Switch and all my Macbooks/iPads; yes they are pricy, but they are very well made and are less geeky than other solutions.

Mad respect! It’s so rare that businesses stand behind their mistakes and this was refreshing to see.

@BAN Came her to say the same thing. It’s not like Nintendo and early reviewers didn’t publish enough footage of the gameplay themselves.

Nintendo, no matter how much I love them, will always be both one step ahead w.r.t. innovation yet one step behind when it comes to technology competitiveness.

tl;dr - I choose to ignore all rumours and will believe it when I see it.

@SimplyCinnamon53 I noticed that notch myself; even it’s been moved there, it doesn’t look like there’d be much room. I watched the unboxing video hoping to get a better glimpse of it, but no dice.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

@SimplyCinnamon53 I was hoping that myself, but I fear that if the USB-C port is in the same place as before, there won’t be enough clearance (angle) between the Switch and resting surface to fit the plug.
