Good that's what you get. Stop supporting the Wii then EA, I don't give a damn. Your games take up valuable shelf space for more important ones anyway.
Nice. I'm liking this the more I see, even though the game play still seems average from what I've seen/heard from others. I haven't been interested in a Mickey game or a Disney one rather since Capcom lost the license to it. I love the concept of it and how it strips away the raped appearance of mickey from modern times.
I also love the ambiguous cover, and hope they do use it. Of course, I live in America, where you have to be Rambo-hardcore to sell at all, which is why Kirby is turned into a bad-ass and the Spirit Tracks cover is bland. It's like Hybrid Rain, how great it looks in Europe with just the origami and rain, yet in America all that is lost to add tits and a gun to appease the hardcorz.
No they'll surprise everyone and release it on september 29!
Seriously though, I hear March, then November, then April.. god I don't even care anymore. The damn system isn't going to be made for left-handers anyway! I'm gonna be sooo pissed if I find out you have to use the left-analogue stick and the touchscreen with stylus only without the option to use buttons on any of the games (who am I kidding, of course they'll do that). At least in the DS era most if not all games had an option to support left-handers, thankfully always Nintendo first parties like WarioWare Touch! did.
lol I can't help but laugh at all these critical bugs that get into these games. Sadly I am the type of person who would back track to the last save after a boss so I'm sure I would encounter this bug probably. Good thing I don't have the game though!
This looks good and all, but I'm much more interested in the 2D Earthbound-esque graphics than this. Of course that was download only in Japan, and I doubt we'll see that version here, especially because it probably wouldn't sell too well because it's not 3D.
Hell I remember when SSBB first game out, and in a Gamestop, some mom was complaining when she saw gameplay of New Pork City "those graphics don't look very 3D!" then she looked back at me like she was trying to gain support for her absurd comment to which I offered no reply. So that's the exact sentiment from casuals I hear, and which I despise, because they completely ignore any other art style, which is why we won't get the original version of this game and instead now this 3D (albeit very cool) version. People are still way too concerned with the appearance of something as they have been for 20 years.
Isn't this a week old by now? I remember seeing that site back then with the trailer and art and everything and thought everybody already knew about it. Still good to keep tabs on I guess.
I actually have this colecovision port with the manual, and I believe it can also be used with the intellivision (the system I actually do have rather than colecovision) but I have yet to actually try it.
Yamauchi-san is even more of an ass than I thought he was, good thing he's outta there now.
Wow, that's so weird, especially since I drove to that place's parking lot 6 years ago all the way from Iowa (It was nearby other places in Seattle I was visiting). Microsoft is right next door too. I never did go inside that building though, and I regret not doing so. But it would have felt awkward anyway so oh well. They had a nice shiny "Nintendo" metal sign on marble though which was cool...
The building WAS very small however so I can see this happening.
Of course, that's typical of any event like this to only be held in special cities, which generally translates to the usual "We only care about the west coast and east coast and south coast, including Washington, California, Texas, NY, and Florida." That's like if 200 special theaters run a marathon of movies like lord of the rings, with 150 of those theaters being in California alone. Why is there NEVER any Mid-west love!?
@LuWiiGi complaining to Nintendo doesn't do anything. Mother fans have tried that for years and still can't even get an official Mother 3 release outside of Japan.
@LittleIrves yeah I saw that site yesterday, and I still believe they won't cater to us as well as the Japanese because they never have. We'll probably get some new Club Nintendo stuff but that's about it.
because the American tendency towards bright colors is that they are homosexual and look kiddy, where as a more purple-ish color scheme is apparently not that bad. For Europe they are more tolerant of that stuff and are kind of considered a test market for US on somethings (like the Tingle DS game and Disaster Day of Crisis) so they kept the SFC design. It doesn't make sense I know, but they wanted a boxy look for the system we have I guess, then figured it wasn't good enough so the snes 2 kinda modeled after Europe and Japan. I actually have a couple imported SFC controllers and the cord is twice as long for our controllers compared to theirs, so at least we have that advantage! Also the concave buttons leave a better grip for your thumb so you can just keep the tip of your thumb over the Y/X button at all times and press B/A with the inside part of your thumb when you flatten it. Just to make things easier.
Wow, didn't really expect Europe to get something that's generally a Japanese exclusive. I mean seriously, the US is NEVER getting these colors. Not since the GBC has there been a portable bright yellow and green system from Nintendo in the States. No, these colors are "too weird" for American audiences, just like that orange GBA system we never got or that orange gamecube system we never got and games like Ufouria, Do Re Mi Fantasy, and Bio Miracle Bokkutte Upa were originally too weird for us to be sold to as well. No, stick with the dull basic black, burgendy, and white and throw in blue and pink for the "girly" gamers. I don't know about you, but I'd like to have more variety in system color, instead of so much black, like that bright red DSI thats Japan only and won't come out here (it would be the only reason to motivate me to get a DSI). It sucks NOA determines what the consumer likes, but capitalism works I guess.
Yeah it was already evident from the e3 trailer this was really Call of Duty: Goldeneye. My feelings are still the same on it though, and there is very little chance I will pick this version up. One of the few FPS games I've ever enjoyed is now raped by those modern FPS games I hate, thanks activision!
Besides, we all know eventually this game will be ported with HD graphics and upgraded online to the PS Move to satisfy a bigger market of people that actually play FPS games. Because the ps360 fanboys won't buy a wii and will complain for so long, it is bound to happen.
wtf youtube, you give me access to all these illegally posted videos and you pull this crap? Since when can countries dictate what videos I watch!? This is an ironic outrage...
man there's no way we'll ever get that cool stuff. the usa is too "big and hard to cater too" which is why we barely even got club nintendo in the first place! But man that stuff sure does look sweet....
Well of course we won't get this. We rarely ever get a fraction of the cool videogame-related stuff Japan gets. Kinda surprising too seeing its a Mario promotion and they usually sell his stuff here, but if its not some Club Nintendo exclusive or anything, I'll know the real reason NOA doesn't release it here is 1) it takes away potential profit for the release of the individual games on the VC 2) they will pretend this set never existed in the first place, as if people around the world don't have access to knowledge of Japan-exclusive games like how it was back in the 80s and early 90s.
Its not that I care THAT much however, seeing its just some lame overpriced reprint of Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES. Could it have killed them to put Super Mario World on there like the + edition had? Or better yet remake them all again removing the small modifications to the games that were present in the original SNES All-Stars version, and maybe make the graphics New Super Mario Bros-esque (hey it might not look like the originals anymore but at least its something new and interesting to do and updated to wii standards). But I'm sure they didn't have the time or wanted to pull out a quick cash-grabber. Yoshi's Island would've been great at least too, but oh well. Happy bday mario, it's better than nothing (for Japan anyway)!
*7 months later we actually get this set and I look like an ass for what I've said
It's so painful waiting for VC releases because there are literally hundreds of games to put up still. Even if 3-4 VC games were put up every week it would still take at least a couple years to put everything up! I know they are trying to spread out releases to "maximize" their profits, but that's still bs seeing that we have to wait for a game to release that's already been released 10+ years ago! We've only had 22 releases on the VC this year for NA, the best being: Rondo of Blood, Fatal Fury Special, Final Fantasy II, Final Fight 3, Ironclad, Kirby's Super Star, Mario Tennis, Mega man 4, Ogre Battle 64, Princess Tomato in Salad KIngdom, Samurai Shodown III, Shadow of the Ninja, Shadow Dancer, Sonic and Knuckles, Ufouria, Wild Guns. Now there are a lot of great games that have come out this year, but we used to get 22 games in a little over a months time when the VC first came out. That's a huge difference compared to now with that one month stretched out to 9!
Other than Acro 2 and Fatal Fury 3, I really doubt we'll see any more VC releases this year. I really hope I'm wrong though, and it sounds like i'm complaining too much about this, but when we've been patiently waiting for 5 years through this entire tedious process for the games we want to be released, we have a right to complain and be pissed. Lack of releases like this is why I went and bought a top loading NES and started filling out my collection of NES, SNES, and N64 titles on my own in cart form so I don't have to wait for this to drop from Nintendo. I don't have gobs of extra money to spend though, and many classic games don't come cheap ($50-$100) so that's really my only reason to look forward to VC: future games like Mr. Gimmick! and games on other consoles I don't own like Bloodlines and Rocket Knight Adventures on the Genesis (many japanese only releases are better off fan-translated and with a usb SNES controller).
this is the first i've heard of it and i'm already absolutely hooked! too bad it doesn't come in a retro NES box with a sleeve, manual, crazy ads, maybe a map, wiimote/nes controller overlays and a small piece of styrofoam at the bottom of it!
I find it interesting SoulSilver is on there but not HeartGold. I guarantee the reason why is because kids these days look at the two covers at see some ice dragon compared to a rainbow bird. Which one do you think is the macho cool one? Kids today are even more homophobic than ever and want to always be cool so they take SoulSilver. Which is funny because when the games originally came out it was the other way around and everyone played Gold more than Silver that I know. It's kinda like how in the original series of Pokemon, the Red version outsold the Blue version, for similar reasons that the red one looks cooler with Charizard on it.
I figured (had hoped) they would be this serious when coming up with new pokemon. It's quite surprising yet kinda cool to think this new region is based around NY (even though everything in movies and tv and everything generally is NY and California >.>) I was also thinking they'd have to use a zoo pretty soon or so, and its cool to hear they are trying to make an ecosystem and not just random things for the hell of it.
man this is nice! I'm glad they are going through with this after all! I mean, I have all the games, but the extras sound nice, and its weird to think we finally get an updated mario collection. I never thought about a magician mario before, why isn't that a suit in one of his games? Love the caption btw. Now if only it would include things like Mario vs Wario and (lol) Hotel Mario!
haha oh wow that's hilariously awful. Simon approved of this performance? It was lame in every way possible and made the Ghostbusters look bad! I guess this is just another equivalent to Justin Bieber in the world.
because the world tells me I should find Billy Mitchell evil, I agree, and have no individual thought, so therefore this pleases me to see that evil has been struck down once again!
My earliest memory of playing a videogame was in '92 when I was three years old. I walked into the living room at my grandparents and saw on the screen Donkey Kong for the nes. I asked my grandpa what it was and he said he was playing a video game. Ever since then I would always look forward to driving down to my grandparents so we would play the NES nonstop. We played classics like super mario bros and super mario bros 2 (rarely played actually because if felt bland in comparison to 3) and duckhunt was a fun zapper game. Tetris and Dr. Mario were our only but awesome puzzle games that I would make fun of my brother for sucking at. Arcade games like Donkey Kong Classics cartridge and Popeye were fun too. We of course had some stinkers like Home Alone which we could never figure out where to go.
But the penultimate title we had was Super Mario Bros 3. We played that thing nonstop soooo many times, we even had a book with a pink cover that taught you how to be good at mario games. After playing this perfect game a few years after it came out, I can only feel sorrow for the people who had to wait for its release. That game had no save feature, and all the same that's part of what made it perfect. Every time you turned off the game you had to restart and it was a whole new adventure because there were so many different ways to beat the game. "What world should we go to with the flute? Let's try to beat the game without the flutes! Don't forget the secret 1-up in bowsers castle, it's a family tradition to get it! Where are the clouds, whats the anchor do?... " So many hours spent with that game, it was such the right difficulty too that in the ice world and dark world I would always cringe and go into the other room so my grandpa could concentrate on boom boom. It was hard but it felt so rewarding. We'd finally beat the game and then start again with our surprise to see all those p-wings at our disposal!
Anyway he died in 2000 but the memories remain. I have the NES in my basement now but it doesn't work well (have to replace the pin connectors). But I DO have a top loader now with almost 200 nes games and play that thing today even. Now I can go back to games I had no knowledge of like Zelda, Metroid, Punch-Out and others like Little Nemo (another great classic with beautiful music).
My NES stories fail in comparison to the SNES I got for my birthday and gameboy pocket I got for christmas around the same time. Those were the systems that I actually lived through their entire lifespans, unlike the NES which I missed the early years of.
Man Japanese gamers are so spoiled I don't even think they know it. Every new Zelda that's come out there has sold worse than the last one compared to everywhere else in the world. They get all these great exclusive games and things like the Super Mario Advance 4 e-reader cards with levels that weren't available anywhere outside of the country (unless you're lucky to find a rom or have success printing off fan-made translated cards) and the e-reader fails before most of that stuff is released to us! I bet it would have sold millions had the e-reader been used for an RPG.
Sure I love rpg's like Final Fantasy, and am glad they finally broke through into the States in the early 90s or so, yet all Japanese gamers really ever care about most is RPGs! Of course that means Mother 3 does good there, but is nowhere to be found here because of too many "cutesy-weird Japanese graphics" like the kind you see in Ufouria and Do Re Mi Fantasy and Bio Miracle Bokkutte Upa that aren't hardcore enough for American audiences.
no way a kid can collect all of that on his own. most of that had to be his parents considering most of it was released before he was born. must be his dads collection.
also there is no ink stamp set with 8bit sprites like I have and absolutely no SMA4 e-reader cards that I saw (except the ones that come with the game) no japanese cards or even the ones in the us and promos for that matter..... so ha! I can brag too.
but pretty cool collection, that seems to have everything I've ever seen and more. except no bullet bill wristband, and lots of mario shirts are missing too. thats why I wouldn't even think about trying to collect everything. it can't be done.
It sucks this week because Metroid is out this week. It's a shame we can't at least get one of the few unreleased good wiiware games. What about that one that came in Japan with the cowboy that looked like Super Mario?
Of course I've expected no VC by now. I can't believe how much we complained after 4 years about a VC drought. First it was fruitful, then we only got one or two a week and people got worried, then people complained for awhile that we only got 1 game a week and thought it couldn't get worse, but then we finally got our first no VC week, and everyone went into a fullblown panic. Now we are lucky to get a VC release once every three months. Hey, at least we got Ufouria.
the 3DS won't ever be priced more than $250 and will most likely be $199 seeing Nintendo's track record. They would be out of their minds to sell it for $300 even though people would still buy it for that price.
I also hope its not released this year, I've got plenty of games to worry about buying in that time, I don't need 20 more popping up on the handheld. I think the DSlite was released in Spring of its year, maybe not, but it wouldn't hurt.
okay, see the artwork there? Kirby all happy-faced? Just wait for the actual release and you'll see his eyes all angry. They do that with EVERY Kirby release, and always change his facial expression when it comes to the states. I hope I'm wrong about it this time, because I like that image.
Dang I thought it was going to come out in September or October. Stupid street date lying that I should have been smarter to avoid. It seems all of these upcoming anticipated releases from Nintendo are all being released in November (except the new ds FF). I guess when they said Kirby's Epic Yarn will be released in Fall, I guess they also meant November 29.
Not that I'm complaining, I'm glad we finally have a release date for this, but I don't have any money right now anyway for it. It's good to know I have some months to find said money.
edit: yeah I just found out epic yarn is released in October. It's good they are balanced out somewhat.
I still haven't finished my original file from 2006 on the wii. I think I've got a couple more dungeons or so to go through. I should probably just get the gamecube version to see how it compares.
i've wasted nearly $200 on buying VC games I already own or have recently gotten in cartridge form in hopes of supporting for obscure releases and games that never came to NA (many games I re-bought in cart form because i was tired of releases being far too damn slow). Ufouria finally came out so im glad thats been released, but there are WAY too many yet to be released that i'm sure Nintendo will probably never bother with. For starters off the top of my head: Mr. Gimmick, Devil World, RodLand, Hammerin' Harry, Banana Prince, and Terranigma. Of course I know Vic Ireland can't get all of that done, but it would be nice to see Mr. Gimmick! for starters.
I didn't know he had to compete against himself! That's crazy to think you would be working against something that made you what you were (the gameboy). Too bad he died in that car accident before he could see the gameboy color.
Not since the GBC has North America ever gotten colors like yellow and green for their systems. Kids nowadays think any wacky color is gay so we will NEVER see a yellow, orange, or neon-green portable system in North America anytime soon. Just burgundy for old people, and black for the cool kids, and pink/blue for the girls. That's sadly how marketing is done.
This is going to flop. The character animation alone will be enough to turn away lots of people. It's probably going to get a 60 or 70 on Metacritic. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
I still don't trust it. I've seen game play footage and there are far too many changes. It's more like playing an interactive movie with on-rail scenes and bullet time slow motion. It's going to be every bit as much as Call of Duty: Goldeneye, and Nintendo will just turn a blind eye to it because they know how much the COD series sells.
hey even if it sucks we still have sonic 4 which is pretty much guaranteed to not suck by those who've played it. We just have to wait for the games release on the wii to see if the 3rd act of the sonic cycle is realized or not.
I thought this was originally announced as a pre-order bonus where it was $70 for just the controller. I saw videos of this remake and it looks far too much like Call of Duty: Goldeneye to me. Besides, the music for the first level in the original game is enough to stick with that version compared to the on-rails cinematic level design of this game with new music.
the 3DS is already guaranteed to sell billions because so many people (especially casual gamers) are into the 3D craze. I loved the stab a Dunaway's statement, little kings story is indeed a great game!
aww man perfect! I have need for new headphones, especially ones that are comfy and fluffy. I wasn't going to preorder but now I have to. I just hope the headphones don't suck or break a month later.
I am mesmerized by the endless stacks of falling blocks. I can't tell if he is making a lot of misplaced blocks, or if he's doing it on purpose to set up a move 20 blocks later!
I've been visiting this site on a daily basis for a year at least and this contest made me finally register. I kind of hope I don't win though because I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow and will be gone when the winner is announced so I'd hate to get an email saying I've won a week after it was sent and found out that my reward was given away because I didn't respond in time. :/

Re: Sega Emits a Spectrum of Sonic Colours Information
I get the feeling the sonic wheel is starting to turn...
Re: Suda51 Talks About No More Heroes 3, 3DS Game Ideas and More
Yeah it's pretty much a given NMH3 will come out eventually by this guy.
Re: Flash Back with a Zapper in Retro City Rampage
this is the first i've heard of it and i'm already absolutely hooked! too bad it doesn't come in a retro NES box with a sleeve, manual, crazy ads, maybe a map, wiimote/nes controller overlays and a small piece of styrofoam at the bottom of it!
Re: Nintendo Shows Who's Boss of the August Sales Chart
I find it interesting SoulSilver is on there but not HeartGold. I guarantee the reason why is because kids these days look at the two covers at see some ice dragon compared to a rainbow bird. Which one do you think is the macho cool one? Kids today are even more homophobic than ever and want to always be cool so they take SoulSilver. Which is funny because when the games originally came out it was the other way around and everyone played Gold more than Silver that I know. It's kinda like how in the original series of Pokemon, the Red version outsold the Blue version, for similar reasons that the red one looks cooler with Charizard on it.
Re: Pokémon Black & White to Explore New Territory
I figured (had hoped) they would be this serious when coming up with new pokemon. It's quite surprising yet kinda cool to think this new region is based around NY (even though everything in movies and tv and everything generally is NY and California >.>) I was also thinking they'd have to use a zoo pretty soon or so, and its cool to hear they are trying to make an ecosystem and not just random things for the hell of it.
Re: Mario Collection Special Pack Coming to Japan
man this is nice!
Re: Jedward: The New Face Of Nintendo UK
haha oh wow that's hilariously awful. Simon approved of this performance? It was lame in every way possible and made the Ghostbusters look bad! I guess this is just another equivalent to Justin Bieber in the world.
Re: Billy Mitchell Was Never the Donkey Kong Jr. Record Holder
because the world tells me I should find Billy Mitchell evil, I agree, and have no individual thought, so therefore this pleases me to see that evil has been struck down once again!
Re: Features: We Want Your NES Stories!
Re: You'll be Shocked by Japan's Most Wanted 3DS Franchises
Re: This is the Greatest Mario Collection We've Ever Seen
no way a kid can collect all of that on his own. most of that had to be his parents considering most of it was released before he was born. must be his dads collection.
also there is no ink stamp set with 8bit sprites like I have and absolutely no SMA4 e-reader cards that I saw (except the ones that come with the game) no japanese cards or even the ones in the us and promos for that matter..... so ha! I can brag too.
but pretty cool collection, that seems to have everything I've ever seen and more. except no bullet bill wristband, and lots of mario shirts are missing too. thats why I wouldn't even think about trying to collect everything. it can't be done.
Re: Nintendo Download: 30th August 2010 (North America)
Re: Prepare for a DSi and XL Price Crash Stateside
the 3DS won't ever be priced more than $250 and will most likely be $199 seeing Nintendo's track record.
Re: Kirby's Epic Yarn
okay, see the artwork there? Kirby all happy-faced? Just wait for the actual release and you'll see his eyes all angry. They do that with EVERY Kirby release, and always change his facial expression when it comes to the states. I hope I'm wrong about it this time, because I like that image.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I bet king k. rool is behind all of it. I hope they at least have kremlings as enemies. Other classic enemies too.
Re: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Set to Brighten Up November
Re: Twilight Princess with High Res Textures Looks Fantastic
I still haven't finished my original file from 2006 on the wii. I think I've got a couple more dungeons or so to go through. I should probably just get the gamecube version to see how it compares.
Re: Buy Ufouria If You Want More Quirky Virtual Console Titles
i've wasted nearly $200 on buying VC games I already own or have recently gotten in cartridge form in hopes of supporting for obscure releases and games that never came to NA (many games I re-bought in cart form because i was tired of releases being far too damn slow).
Re: Ivy the Kiwi? Contest Winner!
aww for a second I thought he wouldn't respond. oh well, at least I have an account now and not just a lurker for another few years.
Re: Gunpei Yokoi Gets The Legacy Treatment
I didn't know he had to compete against himself! That's crazy to think you would be working against something that made you what you were (the gameboy). Too bad he died in that car accident before he could see the gameboy color.
Re: Down Under's DSi XL Range Gets Colourful Next Month
Not since the GBC has North America ever gotten colors like yellow and green for their systems. Kids nowadays think any wacky color is gay so we will NEVER see a yellow, orange, or neon-green portable system in North America anytime soon. Just burgundy for old people, and black for the cool kids, and pink/blue for the girls. That's sadly how marketing is done.
Re: Gandalf Joins Aragorn's Quest in Co-operative Gameplay Video
This is going to flop. The character animation alone will be enough to turn away lots of people. It's probably going to get a 60 or 70 on Metacritic. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
Re: Nintendo Rolls Its Sleeves Up With GoldenEye 007 Development
I still don't trust it. I've seen game play footage and there are far too many changes. It's more like playing an interactive movie with on-rail scenes and bullet time slow motion. It's going to be every bit as much as Call of Duty: Goldeneye, and Nintendo will just turn a blind eye to it because they know how much the COD series sells.
Re: Archie Writer Reveals Sonic Colours Comic, Hints at New Characters
hey even if it sucks we still have sonic 4 which is pretty much guaranteed to not suck by those who've played it. We just have to wait for the games release on the wii to see if the 3rd act of the sonic cycle is realized or not.
Re: Nintendo Teamed Up With Nokia to Develop Phone Concept
it would probably be expensive as hell and the rates through the roof
Re: GoldenEye Gets Golden Pad Bundle
I thought this was originally announced as a pre-order bonus where it was $70 for just the controller. I saw videos of this remake and it looks far too much like Call of Duty: Goldeneye to me. Besides, the music for the first level in the original game is enough to stick with that version compared to the on-rails cinematic level design of this game with new music.
Re: Wii Passes 30 Million Units Sold in the US
the 3DS is already guaranteed to sell billions because so many people (especially casual gamers) are into the 3D craze. I loved the stab a Dunaway's statement, little kings story is indeed a great game!
Re: These Fuzzy Super Scribblenauts Headphones Can Be Yours
aww man perfect! I have need for new headphones, especially ones that are comfy and fluffy. I wasn't going to preorder but now I have to. I just hope the headphones don't suck or break a month later.
Re: Planet Earth, Meet Your First Classic Tetris World Champion
I am mesmerized by the endless stacks of falling blocks. I can't tell if he is making a lot of misplaced blocks, or if he's doing it on purpose to set up a move 20 blocks later!
Re: Ivy the Kiwi?
I've been visiting this site on a daily basis for a year at least and this contest made me finally register. I kind of hope I don't win though because I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow and will be gone when the winner is announced so I'd hate to get an email saying I've won a week after it was sent and found out that my reward was given away because I didn't respond in time. :/
