I played this game for 10 hours yesterday to celebrate--on my DS.
Seriously, they would have gotten A LOT more downloads from people by releasing this game years ago on the VC before a superior portable version came out.
I agree with everything that everyone else repeated 64 times already (yes I read every single comment posted and I'm glad none of you are idiots supporting faux news).
I once played a $2 iphone game for 10 hours straight (texting of the bread). I want at least that amount of game time for this one. I'm still interested in this game for when I most likely get a 3DS, but I want the price to come down. That guy saying "mayday!" says it exactly the same way everytime from what I've seen and it got annoying really fast.
God damnit. First we hear the port of Oot will suck and now this? If there isn't a single option for left-handed controls in Kid Icacus then I am completely done with any consideration of buying a 3DS or possibly stream cafe or whatever. I'm sick of Nintendo taking advantages of us with these overpriced rehashes.
Good thing I don't have a 3DS because now I'm not getting this. I should not have to play through the same boring game again just to play the harder quest that I want to try. By the time I finish the first quest again, I won't feel like playing through the entire game just to see what's different. I'd rather play aLttP 3D where the only difference is the sprites jump out at you than this overhyped pos. They better add the light temple or whatever to make up for this atrocity. It needs to be worth the $40 or else everyone could just buy it for $10 on the Wii.
This is the first I've seen of this game, and it better come to the 3DS. It looks like the best Sonic game of the decade! They even caved in to the fans with the old sonic model. It looks like a game that could make up for all the crap of the recent ones.
This live stream from their site didnt work for me last time. Maybe because I used Firefox. It's a shame I'm going to be in class just as this event will be taking place, so I don't get to watch it live. I'll be placing my bets, though.
I get the feeling some people in the UK read a lot of negative reviews the game got over here and thus decided not to buy it when it was released for them. I wonder how it would've sold if released at the same time as the US. Meh, I'm just speculating, probably the same.
That video explained nothing. So there is a city in the black version and a forest in the white version. What about them? This doesn't help me decide which version to get AT ALL.
No way something like this would happen in the States. Still neat to see a hot chick agree to do this, especially the part about dressing as a man. Weird but enjoyable.
If they pull the same crap they did with the Wii then I am absolutely done. I will not keep buying new vidya game consoles for another 20 years. I have PLENTY of great Mario's and Zelda's to last my whole life. I haven't even collected all the games I want for the NES, GB, SNES, N64, GCN, or even the Wii! Not to mention even the large DS library or even some PSP games.
Good. My friends and I talked 10 years ago about videogames someday having no controllers and no more discs (all-media storage did come true now) but as I type this message on an ipod touch, I'm reminded of how much I love buttons and how necessary they are in gaming.
Awesome, my favorite black-box NES game next to balloon fight. But now I HAVE to get a 3DS on my birthday May 6 so I can get this for free in time. I wanted to wait dangit!
I wish Iwata means he regrets selling to the casual crowd, but I'm sure he really means he regrets not having 3rd parties promote their stuff with him.
@triforceofcourage if you're asking me, I'm just being cynical. Although it's a little weird seeing Link's arm hanging out like that, and the music sounds a bit different in tempo in some parts then I remember. Still, I won't mind buying this again.
funny, I thought there would for once be an FPS game worth playing on the Wii that would be as good if not better than Metroid Prime Trilogy. I'm a little surprised honestly that this game didn't pull a Red Steel 2 maneuver and vastly improve upon the original.
Meh, I really don't care about the new system honestly. I'm still actually trying to get myself to care enough to buy a 3DS (the new Mario game might be that motivation).
I've only played an hours worth of Monster Tale, but I love everything I've seen so far. I like the nods to Metroid while still feeling original. Henry Hatsworth is great too, but it gets very repetitive very fast through the levels, and seeing the same robot animation over and over again gets old. Both games are still better than most of the crap out there.
I already know this one isn't true because it contradicts the philosophy of Gunpei Yokoi, who found creative uses with the original gameboy by using old outdated technology. Nintendo still follows this philosophy. They know consumers are cheap so the new console won't cost more than 250 like the Wii launch, they won't sell at a loss, "be patient" is what Miyamoto said of Kid Icarus years ago and look how long that took so it's definately not out in 5 months from now, thus leaving the technology to match not surpass the PS3.
Damn there are a lot of whiny complainers here! Its not like there wont be future Zelda games, and Super Metroid will come too. So what if they are remaking the game? You don't have to buy it. Myself, I just happened to play the original again yesterday after atleast 10 years, and I can easily see the effect Miyamoto is talking about. Of course, I also thought about how cool the game would look if it were remade Oot style.
Wait, some guy named Barrett who is a leader of a gang? Does Mega Man get a huge buster sword, blond hair dye, and some materia to collect while saving the environment also?
I'm one of the biggest Mario fans in existence, and a spiritual successor to Mario 3 that is in the realm of SM64 and is even in 3D? I've been waiting at least 20 years for a Mario game like this (64 had bad controls compared to Banjo-Kazooie but it was a good game) and I know this will even exceed all of my expectations! I'm sure the level design will be good like Super Princess Peach rather than decent like NSMB DS. This game will be bigger and more important than OoT 3D!
Didn't Miyamoto promise Zelda 2 to be released on time before a "circuit board shortage" excuse was implemented? OOT, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, SSBB... I'm not getting my hopes up that there won't be a delay.
THEN AGAIN.. this is Mario, and seeing those few screen shots look like a spiritual successor to Mario 3 only in 3D. Sooo...I can't wait and I hope this is released by the planned 12/31/2011 give or take a few days release.
You'd have to be an idiot to not think there will be a successor to the Wii coming soon. I don't want to think about it, but in another 10 years there will be the Wii's successor's successor. Unless the apocalypse ends all vidya games. I cannot express enough how little I care about a Wii successor. The Wii hasn't even left a good enough legacy like the DS to move on yet!
well, between SM64 and SMG there was Super Mario Sunshine. So this game will probably suck with awkward controls. The only "original" aspect of it then is we get an old power up used in a 3D setting. Big deal.
probably real. I don't like the controller, it looks too much like a game cube layout with SNES face buttons, or a mutated GBA. I kind of like the look of the system though. It has that computer-memory-storage-external-hard-drive look to it. But of course, at the moment I really can see no reason for a new system to be speculated upon yet.
I don't like hearing rumors of a new console, seeing as last years' 3DS and DKCR's rumors turned out to be true. I don't mind being spoiled with other stuff, but I want to be as surprised as I felt when I first heard about Kirby's Epic Yarn on the showroom floor.
I honestly completely forgot all about this. I don't see why they wouldn't add Samus as playable, they've already screw-attacked-up the series once before!
A 6 inch touchscreen on the controller? First off, I like the little nod to Sega with a screen on a controller like the Dreamcast. However, this size sounds to be big for being on a controller with regular buttons in the middle. I can only assume it will be something like a DS, only both screens are merged into one. I wonder if Four Swords somehow inspired this, with the gba connectivity and all.
I've been waiting for a "new" Star Fox game for years. Hopefully this will be just the spark Miyamoto was looking for to garner interest back into the series (as if it wasn't obvious enough that the reason the other games have failed is because they aren't made like this one).
I'd like to someday see a Star Fox game where you play as James with Pigma and Peppy as your wing men.
I don't blame them for the inevitable act of lowering the cost of the system. The Wii has been one of the Nintendo consoles with the fewest AAA titles. The NES easily had 200 great games at least out of the near 800, the SNES over 100 (if not equal or greater to the NES amount), N64 maybe 60 out of the measly 300 something games, and even the Game Cube surprisingly had quite a few. Hell, even the original Game Boy had at least 80 great titles (not including color, which was about 30 in its short 4 year run).
The Wii has 40-50 great disc-based games (leaving out most of the casual games for the sake of argument, as this is from the POV of a "hardcore" gamer). Now, I understand some great games are better than none, but Nintendo has really streamlined the process of releasing games with their consoles every few years. On the NES and GB launches, we had generic titles like Golf and Tennis, but at least the first party releases were plentiful. It's more than a shame we can't have as strong third party support for the Wii as the NES and SNES did, but where the hell is Pikmin 3, Star Fox Wii, F-Zero Wii, or anything else people beg for for years?
While Nintendo is evolving and catering to a wider casual audience (as any business should, really) people like me have to end up playing old consoles or the PS360 for their gaming fix during the immense "Wii droughts." It's the N64 days all over again.
Pretty soon Wii 2 will be announced, people will think the name is dumb, get super excited for the release, enjoy it immensely for the first year they have the system, then feel indifferent about the console a few years later. Then a decade passes, and the gamer has a nostalgic urge, and gets back to playing the old games they used to know and love. This cycle has happened every time, and will continue to do so, and we die-hard gamers will keep getting sucked into the newest, greatest, best thing.
I guess my point is, the DS library has easily over 200 great games, with most being AAA, all thanks to great first-party and third-party support. I know the 3DS will continue that trend. Nintendo sure did sell a lot of Wii consoles, making it a "success," but why does it feel like the Wii has failed? Why do so many people leave the system untouched for months? Is it because most developers can't figure out how motion controls work or don't like a system without HD? I sure as hell know I've never had a reason to stop playing my DSlite. I'm worried for the Wii's future, and at this point I'm starting to wonder why I even bought the system years ago besides the occasional Mario and Zelda game. Kirby's Epic Yarn and DKCR were good, and Capcom has always offered great support, but isn't this price decline just showing the Wii fading and eventually dieing with no last hurrah?
The DS had Monster Tale, Pokemon Black and White, and Okamiden recently, which feels as a nice final goodbye to that portable generation. What does the Wii have besides Conduit 2 (if that will be any good) and another Zelda? I hope E3 will be just as great as last year for the Wii and this price decline doesn't mean Nintendo is trying to finish selling their back stock of unsold systems.

I admit it. My mind is genuinely blown. Gargantu-WIN? Maybe, we'll see. It makes sense since Sega has really been trying lately to make Sonic good.

I guess this means you guys can't complain about getting games later than us anymore.
Re: Features: Re-Examining Zelda: Twilight Princess
I'm only half way through this game. It sucks just as much as windwaker. Both are extremely tedious and boring.
