Why a new Kirby DS game? I mean, that's cool and all but we already have 3 kirby games for the system! Why not just make it for the 3DS, especially when it's so close to release?
Is it just me, or did they update the look of links face for the remake? I've been playing a lot of Majora's Mask recently which used the original face, and this looks more like the concept art they had in the players guide. Either way, I'm loving the way it looks!
Good, I was hoping it wouldn't come out this year. All that April 2011, then September 2010, then March 2011, then November 2010, then March 2011 again nonsense can be put to rest. Let the DS line go out with a bang Nintendo and give the Wii a spectacular Christmas without the need in our minds to find half a grand for a new portable. Besides my next birthday is May of 2011 so I can wait.
I think this means that Mega Man 64 will be released as Mega Man Legends on the 3DS VC (or maybe not, because Sony might have something to say about a PSone game on their rival handheld first) and that Mega Man Legends 2 (I dont know if it got a release on the 64) will hopefully come as well. I've been waiting for a MML3 for a decade now. My brother is gonna be really excited to hear about this.
Yeah, I'm sure we'll go through the whole process of adding 3rd party handheld systems to the 3DS VC like the GameGear, and hopefully by adding 3D technology that means we'll see the Virtual Boy games released!
Still no Left-Handed support here Nintendo, what am I supposed to do, turn into a Right-Hander!?!?!? WTF that's impossible and its bs! They could easily just put another analogue thumb stick on the right side of the system. I think I'll wait for the "remodel" like the GBA SP was and the DS Lite was, and for the price to come down in a year or two (possibly already in time for christmas next year) and for more colors to come out.
This is awesome news to finally have confirmed, but I bet it'll still be like the way the VC is treated. All those games like Mother 3 STILL won't be released, and then we'll have to get all the VC games and wait for SNES games to be released on the 3DS. Hopefully though, you can transfer your wii VC and play it on the 3DS. THAT would be even awesomer, like the PSN does. But hopefully they'll cut back on releasing shovel Wiiware every week (who am I kidding of course not) and perhaps start evening it out with Wii VC and 3DS VC one week, and Wiiware the next.
It's probably going to be like Animal Crossing WW to CF, where you can only transfer one way and the rest is deleted. Or maybe they'll do it so you can only transfer between 5 systems like others have done in the past.
I didn't know Japan doesn't have NMH 2: DS yet. Its a shame it was pretty much the same footage of DKCR and ZSS though. Also Last Story looks good, and I love how the creator likes "final" things with a sort of "fantasy" element to them.
Hopefully its more than 3ft away from you when you are in StreetPass. Not everyone in the world lives in a small Japanese apartment, or is crammed into an overstuffed train of an extra 100 people by attendants wearing white gloves, or even walks in crowded streets (unless you're NY) as they'd prefer to drive (hopefully it works with driving). For school this would work I guess, but what about everyone else who doesn't go to school? I guess they could leave their system on in their pocket and hope some customers come in with a system while they work (ala that pocket pokemon thingy). I just don't want this to be as lame as Picto-chat, where you'd never find anyone using it, unless it was with a sibling or with a friend drawing obscenities.
That whole tag-mode thing looks great and all, but not everywhere in the world is 100 people crammed into a very small area at a time Nintendo. Sure in Japan its easy to find people to trade stuff with like that, living in closet-sized apartments and having people with white gloves shove you into an overcrowded train, but not in the US (most of it however not including stupid NY and California which many people think are the only important states in the country). Living in a rural area, or the Midwest or whatever, you'll be lucky to find someone in the area who has the same system and game as you at the time, except at school sometimes.
Now I know this system is targeted for the Japanese public, and everywhere else in the world is just fortunate to have the privilege to play their game systems, but I hope this whole wi-fi thing has an extended range, more than 3 ft away from the system. Picto-chat was a HUGE disappointment, as something only my brother and maybe a friend from time to time would mess around with.
Man this better not fail like the E-Reader. That thing was awesome and we never did get the rest of those Super Mario Advance 4 cards that Japan got with the extra levels and switches and boomerang and whatnot!
But the cost of things and how the cards are packaged might make this work.
Also, I love how we are already getting more awesome games announced before the release of the 3DS than half the amount of good disc-based games on the Wii in a span of 5 years! I can easily see this system having just as many (hundreds) of good games in its future than the wii (not even one hundred) as the original DS/DSL/DSi. That's the benefit of lots of good 3rd parties, many of which who don't contribute to the Wii a lot (except good ole Capcom).
Oh man this is awesome! I predicted this sort of thing (not the 3D though) to happen with the Wii VC was first launched in 2006! I already have 80 original gameboy games in cart form, and 30 GBC games in cart form so I would probably not use it unless I was really desperate or games from Wayforward were put up (Shantae and Wendy Every Witch Way especially).
Man this sucks, there is NO WAY we are getting this in the US. When the original bright red DSi system was announced in Japan, I got my hopes up that it would be released here because I've wanted a system that's all-red like that since the original game boy (I ended up getting a black pocket for Christmas). You can imagine by disappointment to see the DS Lite red was just some plastic plate they put over the black unit.
Now this is even BETTER than the red DSi in Japan. Even though the 3DS is on the horizon, I'd still pick this thing up because I don't have any DSi right now, and it obviously looks sweet.
dang it Nintendo, why didn't you just do this in the first place!? I can understand not having a gyrosensor at the launch of the console, but why didn't you just make it all one remote before you launched Wii Motion + and Wii Sports Resort, or at least release this alongside that adapter? I guess its a good thing I only have 2 remotes right now, even though two more wouldn't really help if there isn't more people to use them.
Oh yeah, and how typical (again and again) to only release these four colors! But I won't go into that argument.
man all these neat preorders. Kirby should have a quilt of kirby that you get if you pre-order his game. I'd love to get many of the practical ones, for I need new headphones and a watch (maybe a hat?) but I don't know how to feel about this one.
Since when does anyone NEED a wiimote holder!? What is the purpose? just put it on the shelf with the console or in the basket with other remotes or whatever! I also don't like the idea of calling the game with an ending word "returns" because it still doesn't feel right to say the series is returning, like breaking the 4th wall or something. It seems a little uncreative. I guess they can't say DKC4 because its not really the 4th one, more like a homage to it, and that would leave out the 64 one. They're kinda screwed into a corner with the title, but they could have come up with something better then "Returns."
I never liked Rabbids even when they were first invented, I sure as hell hate them now. Rayman has been such a disappointment after the first game. Hopefully that new one will change all that though.
Man I'm loving that battle music. The battle camera views look awesome too. Its a shame there are literally 20 games I want to get right now with zero cash! I'll have to wait longer for this one but it looks promising, like a lost classic FF game, kinda like how Mega Man 9 seemed.
Man, Wayforward needs to remake Wendy Every Witch Way also or have a sequel, and the original Shantae on the DSiware. Because those games are unbelievably expensive to find in original cart form. Better yet, put all 3 of these games (Shantae 1 and 2 and Wendy) onto one ds cart and release it for the standard $30. I'd get it right on the spot!!
I remember playing this game years ago on emulator, not knowing anything about it before hand. Sure I was surprised at its simplicity, but I assumed it was that way on purpose. It was still a fun game I haven't finished, and has a decent story. With the right frame of mind you can enjoy this game, and knowing its really part of the SaGa series puts it all into perspective. It's a shame they tagged the FF name onto the SaGa series here, as it hindered the FF name unintentionally, and exposed the decent but not awesome quality of the SaGa series itself.
hmm, the first page is about finding the answer to where you get your ideas... that's intriguing and funny. I guess it was a little too much to expect anything out of this interview. However, I do know that Itoi does interviewing for a living, and always asks questions no one else does. Every day on Itoi's site he does interviews like this to different people, with funny and interesting stories (from what I hear, I can't read it very well).
I like how these Iwata asks interviews are always soooo extremely polite to each other all the time. You never see the people disagreeing with each other, and are always extremely happy with one another. Its almost sickening but their mannerisms are to be expected I guess in a professional setting. The two Shigy's are at it!
Man, just after I spent the last year or so getting these hard to find games they are back in print! I guess there goes the rarity value of them. I still have a sealed DK Jungle Climber so hopefully that one will last a bit longer, but it is good to have these games out again. Hoops is fun but hard, super princess peach is awesome, and PIT sucks big time! It is sooooo repetitive and boring it felt a chore just to play it. I gave my friend 20 bucks for it a few years back and even that felt too much because he hated it also.
Two of the greatest geniuses in gaming ever in the same room together!? I've gotta read that interview. I hope/wish it mentions a little about a possible port of the mother series to the DS at some point!
man, this is the one game that makes me REALLY wish I had a DSI! I also wish the original wasn't so damn expensive to find in cart form, because GBA flash cards can't emulate it right. Man, to think I had a perfect chance to buy the game in the early 2000's but I didn't because I didn't know anything about it back then and (shamefully) thought it was just some silly girls shovel ware game from the looks of it.
If I had a dsi i'd pick this up. I'd love to support pixel and the possible other games he'll port to the consoles, and having a portable cave story is the best possible option to play the game!
I've known they've been around this though but it still astounds me how this is so. 100 years selling cards? I guess you could sustain a business if you also had things like toys to sell. When I first saw they were made 1889 all those years back, at first I thought it was a typo, but I've come to realize that fact. They are one of the longest running businesses with no end in sight!
Man i'm excited for this game. It would be cool to have it released just like an NES game. The price is a little steep for the casuals though who are already turned off by its appearance, but I guess this isn't made for them. I never really cared for Saved By the Bell when I was younger though.
Remove the recharging health and missiles at will crap. Don't make Samus a wimpy cry baby like this was her first battle and still take into account the hundreds of things she's killed and faced before. She never cried seeing Ridly before, so why start now? Having to disable her varia suit because she was told to just to give the lava section a challenge is pure bs and poor storytelling! Don't make the game too linear again like Metroid Prime Hunters. Make players spend hours exploring and finding secrets, so they can learn short cuts and get better. When you die and restart an area, start out with full health and missiles so you dont have to grind through enemies to refill health (my only complaint of the original) but also make it so enemies do give you health when you need it. Have cutscenes, dialogue, but keep it short and simple with retaining that sense of isolation. When testing the game, make sure there is no "life-threatening" bug that corrupts your saved file from progressing further into the game (I'm talking about the locked-door thing). Don't make the game too easy, and don't be afraid to give it a challenge. Keep some ambience in the music where necessary, but don't forget the catchy music too that was prevalent all throughout the original.
I could keep going on but there really is no use to. I really doubt he'll see these comments or even care anyway.
I wont begin to list the literally hundreds of games that need to be released still because most people already know them, and many won't be released because of licensing issues (possibly including the capcom/disney nes games). Also Rare has stated before that Nintendo owns DK64 and can't understand why they won't release it. However, I am VERY excited to play the arcade version of the Ghosts n' Goblins! It is VASTLY superior to the NES version and I loved playing it at the arcade! The best part of that is now I'd be able to play and die as many times as I want without wasting lots more quarters. For other arcade releases, I just hope Konami releases the Simpsons and X-men games that were never ported to any system.
Does this mean we'll finally have portable ports (hopefully with added features) of all those N64 games that were hoped to be released when the original DS was first released in 2004? Just like we saw with Super Mario 64 DS (only now maybe the controls can be better with another remake)? Yes, and that's what I care most about this new system. Maybe when the profit runs dry of Rare games on Xbox Live, they can port those old games to the system as well. Hopefully rumble support is reinstated too, as it really added to the games (in some cases required to find things in Zelda).
But does this include Gamecube games now too!? It would seem they would at least try by looking at these specs. All I can be is hopeful.
How can you get EVERYTHING in all the main Zelda's in 5 days? I spent 12 hours straight the other day messing around with Majora's mask and only got 1/4 through it.
Awesome. But eventually there has to be a record that can't be beat period. If the game can end, so can the possibilities for a highest score. Yet this probably isn't it based on previous records being quickly beaten.
What the hell? Why haven't I heard of such an awesome game and it's NA release coming soon? a watch? Hell I need new headphones and a watch so I guess preordering Super Scribblenauts and this would help me out!
Eh whatever. I don't know why I still get excited for these updates. I guess part of me like the anticipation of what is going to be released. But VC games seem to be released with a months ahead announcement. The wiiware sucks, and I don't have a dsi, but the dsi ware seems good. I guess I'll try Acro 2.
I feel kinda bad that the first thing I did when I saw this was cheer and scream "YES!" but it's how I really feel. She didn't fit in, left a bad image, and doesn't truly care about vidya games.
The problem with the Starfox series nowadays is people like Miyamoto think the games shouldn't be on-rail shooters, and that the games should fit into a variety of genres, then Miyamoto wonders why the games sell like crap. Thats the problem. Because people only want to play Starfox as a shooter, which is why the original and Starfox 64 are very good. Why can't they just have one series that is kept simple and not always radically changed!? Kirby was simple and consistent for most of the games until Epic Yarn (not including spin offs like golf and pinball). Starfox should just be a shooter with different levels and I don't see why that is so hard to do. >.>
eh what good would it be to own this thing anyway. You can't squeeze it, move individual parts, take off said individual parts, sleep with it... the list goes on. I'd rather find a real woman dressed as Samus for that amount of monnies!
I don't like the idea of a new home console coming up already. Generally its been a 5 year cycle on average, but the Wii I think may go 7. There is still far too much untapped potential not being used, and instead 3rd party developers just resort to literally waging the Wiimote to do anything instead of all the different gestures we saw in the original Wii Sports. When we get a new Pikmin, Starfox, and F-Zero on the Wii, then I'll say we've reached the climax of the systems life. Its been a bit easier ending other consoles in the past because there were so many good games on those systems (SNES and NES in particular) but when I play a console more for the downloaded games than I do for actual disc based games, something clearly doesn't feel right. At least the Gamecube had a lot of great games for the hardcore crowd, instead of all this focus on casuals.
It may not have online, but it will still be good I think. I already know one of the secret characters in the game is Stickman, the model they used for animating the characters.
This game was already an instant buy 2 years before it was announced, and seeing the game look even better here is just mesmerizing. A girl with green hair is the 4th character huh? I wonder which character is which elemental adept.
It could be Rare, but if it was, I'm sure we wouldn't have one of the games they made today, and would have to sacrifice JFG or something. Rare has always stated (back then) they wanted to do things new in ways they weren't done before in the best way possible. That's where the whole SnS thing from Banjo-Kazooie took place, but was dropped by NIntendo for being to potentially damaging to the hardware. They didn't just want to do a lock-on cart. They wanted a frickin pull out the game in a set amount of time system. It would have been great too.
Anyway they could have just made metroid 64 with the control scheme Kirby 64 had, seeing not many games at all used the D-pad on the N64. Hell, I don't even know of ANY game on that system that used the "left-hand setup" where your right hand used the joystick and your left the d-pad. I bet they could have made it work beautifully...
Man this is even cooler than I thought before! Those new vehicles are awesome too! It makes me not even care that he can't suck up enemies and eat them. It was time for a much needed change anyway, as Kirby was the one series aside from Animal Crossing being worse that had games that felt the exact same from its predecessors.
The level transitions are genius though! Get items and their effects open new ways. I love it!
a 3D Metroid game would be great, but how many times are we going to jump around the series timeline? First it was straight 1-4, then Prime series went between 1 and 2, and now Other M before 3-4. Whats next, a game between 2 and 3 showing Samus having obstacles delivering the metroid baby to the research station? Hell I wouldn't doubt that being a possibility. It's a shame we never saw Metroid 64, as I'm sure it would have been a hit, but I want a game that definitively ends the series, one that would probably be where Samus is killed but finally kills Ridly for good and all those loose ends like that tied up. Once we have that, I have no problem going back and filling in holes. It's like Star Fox Command where they had the game that was the end of the series but said they could still plan a game that goes earlier in the time line.

Re: Nintendo of Japan Shows Off Upcoming DS Games
@SmaMan
exactly, I was thinking the same thing. It's like Kirby is gonna be like that at this rate.

Why a new Kirby DS game? I mean, that's cool and all but we already have 3 kirby games for the system! Why not just make it for the 3DS, especially when it's so close to release?

Re: Shantae: Risky's Revenge Coming October 4th
man, this is the one game that makes me REALLY wish I had a DSI!
Re: First Cave Story DSiWare Screenshots
If I had a dsi i'd pick this up. I'd love to support pixel and the possible other games he'll port to the consoles, and having a portable cave story is the best possible option to play the game!
Re: Nintendo Turns 121 Years Old Today
I've known they've been around this though but it still astounds me how this is so. 100 years selling cards? I guess you could sustain a business if you also had things like toys to sell. When I first saw they were made 1889 all those years back, at first I thought it was a typo, but I've come to realize that fact. They are one of the longest running businesses with no end in sight!
Re: La-Mulana Tokyo Game Show Trailer
Looks more complicated than I thought It would be, and beautiful too! Too bad its been in development for so very long. I guess that's Nicalis for ya.
Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii Named Game of the Year in CESA Awards
yep to be expected
Re: Interview: Brian Provinciano - Retro City Rampage
Man i'm excited for this game. It would be cool to have it released just like an NES game. The price is a little steep for the casuals though who are already turned off by its appearance, but I guess this isn't made for them. I never really cared for Saved By the Bell when I was younger though.
Re: Sakamoto Wants to Know Your Metroid: Other M Thoughts
Re: Even More Virtual Console Titles on the Way
I wont begin to list the literally hundreds of games that need to be released still because most people already know them, and many won't be released because of licensing issues (possibly including the capcom/disney nes games).
Re: Rumour: 3DS Tech Specs Revealed
Re: It's Dangerous to Go Alone, But the Zeldathon Raises Rupees Regardless
How can you get EVERYTHING in all the main Zelda's in 5 days? I spent 12 hours straight the other day messing around with Majora's mask and only got 1/4 through it.
Re: Steve Wiebe Reclaims Donkey Kong World Record
Awesome. But eventually there has to be a record that can't be beat period. If the game can end, so can the possibilities for a highest score. Yet this probably isn't it based on previous records being quickly beaten.
Re: Watch Out for this Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors Bonus
What the hell? Why haven't I heard of such an awesome game and it's NA release coming soon? a watch? Hell I need new headphones and a watch so I guess preordering Super Scribblenauts and this would help me out!
Re: Nintendo Download: 20th September 2010 (North America)
Eh whatever. I don't know why I still get excited for these updates. I guess part of me like the anticipation of what is going to be released. But VC games seem to be released with a months ahead announcement. The wiiware sucks, and I don't have a dsi, but the dsi ware seems good. I guess I'll try Acro 2.
Re: Cammie Dunaway Leaving Nintendo Next Month
I feel kinda bad that the first thing I did when I saw this was cheer and scream "YES!" but it's how I really feel. She didn't fit in, left a bad image, and doesn't truly care about vidya games.
Re: Review: Star Fox: Assault (GameCube)
The problem with the Starfox series nowadays is people like Miyamoto think the games shouldn't be on-rail shooters, and that the games should fit into a variety of genres, then Miyamoto wonders why the games sell like crap. Thats the problem. Because people only want to play Starfox as a shooter, which is why the original and Starfox 64 are very good. Why can't they just have one series that is kept simple and not always radically changed!? Kirby was simple and consistent for most of the games until Epic Yarn (not including spin offs like golf and pinball). Starfox should just be a shooter with different levels and I don't see why that is so hard to do. >.>
Re: Nab a Life-Size Samus Statue on eBay
eh what good would it be to own this thing anyway. You can't squeeze it, move individual parts, take off said individual parts, sleep with it... the list goes on. I'd rather find a real woman dressed as Samus for that amount of monnies!
Re: Rumour: Sadness Still in Development With Update by the End of the Year
Doubt it, but hopeful.
Re: Itagaki Makes Curious Remark about Nintendo's Next Console
Re: New Trailer for NBA Jam Remix Modes is Nothing But Net
It may not have online, but it will still be good I think. I already know one of the secret characters in the game is Stickman, the model they used for animating the characters.
Re: North America Gets to Run for Ten Seconds in Five Days
Yeah the casual gamers will most likely HATE this game as too hard and repetitive.
Re: Familiar Abilities Return in New Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Trailer
This game was already an instant buy 2 years before it was announced, and seeing the game look even better here is just mesmerizing. A girl with green hair is the 4th character huh? I wonder which character is which elemental adept.
Re: Metroid 64 Was This Close to Existing
Re: Brand New Kirby's Epic Yarn Trailer
Man this is even cooler than I thought before! Those new vehicles are awesome too! It makes me not even care that he can't suck up enemies and eat them. It was time for a much needed change anyway, as Kirby was the one series aside from Animal Crossing being worse that had games that felt the exact same from its predecessors.
The level transitions are genius though! Get items and their effects open new ways. I love it!
Re: Sakamoto Wishes to Start Metroid Dread From Scratch
a 3D Metroid game would be great, but how many times are we going to jump around the series timeline?
