I love that people enjoy the prime games. I think they just weren’t for me, or maybe I just didn’t play them at the right time in my life. Although I did have a lot of fun with MP Hunters and MP3.

On a side note I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed Other M! I honestly loved it.
I wasn’t online much in those days, so I was shocked to see some people hated it so much when I finally read some comments online.
But that’s life I guess!

I see people say this sometimes. That Prime plays like the 2D games brought to 3D. But I struggle to understand. When I played Prime for the first time, it felt to me very different than Super Metroid.
Like, it could have been a different series almost!

For starters, the prime games are incredibly slow compared to the quick nature of Super Metroid.
Even just the movement speed and moving through rooms. But stopping to scan things? Kinda put me off.

For what it’s worth, I thought Other M did a great job bringing me back to the gameplay and feeling of SM and ZM.

But maybe I’m just weird!

I was waiting for this! Can’t wait to watch it after work.

I wouldn’t have thought so many would prefer the EU covers since, as someone mentioned, the NA one is more indicative of the content of the game to me.
I do agree that the EU one has style, but as a game cover, you’d have to know what Layton was to have much of an indication of what you’re in for, right?

There are plenty of great games for less than that.

I think Steins gate Elite is a improved version of the first game, but I haven't played it so maybe someone else can confirm that.

Outside of the games storylines, I've never got too deep into the lore of the series.
Maybe a bit of the Prime games.
I did love Hunters story, and the way each Hunter had a backstory. I'd love to see that explored more!
And If they ever revisit that style of Multiplayer on a modern console, count me in!
Probably one of the best and most unique fps that was stuck on a system not many took seriously.🥲

Some people think Other M being a good game is something new. They just must not know. I shake my head.
The game got great reviews ON LAUNCH.
And there are plenty of people like myself who played it and loved it not knowing or not caring about a few haters pretending everyone agrees with them.
No man.
And I shouldn't even comment cause it's just nerd BS. But I just can't stand to see people hate on good things and think everyone agrees with them. Sucks.
And I saw someone mention the Star Wars prequels. Same goes for them. Y'all are just hating!

Way back in the day when I used to post on this site, I remember a few of your posts about other M and Prime Hunters. Those are 2 of my top Metroid games as well, so I always remembered your posts.

Yeah! I love Prime but part of what I loved about Super Metroid was the fast paced action.

Also, I think you can say Other M earned critical acclaim.
Most of the big reviewers gave it 7-9s.
At what point is a game planned by critics? lol.
I'll always point to the 70-something score on metacritic even all these years later after more negative reviews came out.

Gameplay wise, one of the best!

Other M is awesome and the gameplay IS like classic Metroid.
It's the other, fast paced side of Super Metroid that the Prime Games lost.

I liked the Layton Crossover better than every one I've played except the first, but I might be biased lol😀

The first game he composed for was FF13?

I love that they're all rated high, ranking wise.

Now it seems like some people prefer Prime's original GameCube controls to the Wii controls of trilogy.

I'll just add that as someone who didn't play prime until a few years ago, I'd take about anything over those weird aim mechanics.

And one more thing....

For the record, I think Other M is the closest game to a 3D Super Metroid.
I'm not bashing Prime or anything, because I don't think being more like Super Metroid is automatically a plus.

But come on, moving through rooms quickly, blasting enemies, consulting the map but not being slowed down. Even the exploration in Other M to me feels closer to the way you explore in Super Metroid.

In comparison, prime is very slow paced, you're character isn't agile at all, the combat is slow, exploration is a snails pace. Stopping to scan things, waiting for platforms to lower, in some cases solving puzzles, and of course, stopping to aim lol.
Not a lot of waiting and puzzles in Other M or super Metroid.

To me one great thing about Other M is how close it is to Super Metroid.

With the prime Games, to me they are great for what they are. It just bothers me that people say Other M doesn't have the "spirit of Metroid" or whatever.
To a lot of people it does, if you can look at it this way.

Now this is cool.

What is awesome to me about reading this comment section, is that there's really no collective best or worst.
For the most part, everyone's got a different opinion and each game gets love.
I think there's things to appreciate about each.

Yeah I recently played the original for the first time, and it was tough with how dated it felt.
I remember thinking, "I wish I could just play a remake".
So yeah, I'm onboard. Love the rest of the series but did not enjoy this one. A well done remake would be awesome!

Hey very true, on principle it is strange, especially if they're so aware that they troll the fan base.
I remember that E3 sketch where Reggie burned a guy for asking about it. And that was years ago!
And the series as a whole being dead is too bad. I love Earthbound, and I still hold out hope that maybe someday there'll be a remake of all 3.
