Eh haven't had a problem on my 60" 4k from 3 meters away. But I have had a problem with the soundtrack blaring over the dialogue. And the music frequently contains lyrics during the main story cutscenes. Amazing that developers and testers didn't notice this...
@ultraraichu "Speaking of which I have the craziest though that the NX is something like a Nervegear with that paragraph about unique and different (overthinking it)."
I really hope it's more like the AmuSphere. Don't really want my brain to get fried. Anyway I think we're a LONG way away from such a technology, unfortunately.
Wait, you guys hate having these in 100-mario challenge? Are you not trying to unlock all the costumes?
For me, the auto-levels provide much-needed breaks during the chore of playing more than 1,000 random mario maker courses. Free level completion for doing nothing. If I got 16 auto-complete levels in a row, I could start mario challenge, walk away for 20 minutes or so, and have a new costume for free. After all, isn't that how we all unlocked Mewtwo in SSBM?
Do not make it a swan song for a failed system, make it an amazing launch title for your next system. You know a surefire way to make your next system a failure as well? Wait 4 years to put out a Zelda game.
That's okay, TVii is really bad anyways. I was so excited to be able to browse between Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu all on one device, within one app.
However, what it really does is display listings of each (and an Amazon, there is no distinction between whether it is a movie/tv show you can buy, vs one that comes with Prime), then if you choose a selection, it launches the appropriate app (which used to take around 2 minutes, I haven't used it recently but it's probably better) and does a search.
Often times, the search result doesn't even come up with any results, or it's something completely unrelated that maybe contained the search term within the description. Frequently it lists things that are only available in other regions.
I gave up on TVii a long time ago. You aren't missing anything, Europe.
I really really really hope they do in fact push the new Zelda onto the NX, or do a cross-gen release. If the NX doesn't have some great games at launch it's going to flounder just as much as the Wii U did.
Much rather have a strong debut for the next system than a strong swansong for the current system.
I had this on Wii VC, tried giving it an honest attempt at a playthrough a couple times, but couldn't get into it. The gameplay was just too stiff for me. Only being able to walk in a grid (4 directions) while enemies can move in up to 8 directions proved to be very frustrating. The music was great though and how he fixed these tracks is interesting as well.
Aggregate scores are a great way to find games that you might want to try. If you're curious about a specific game, then finding a review from a site you like and actually reading about it might be the better option.
Giving names to scores is not much different than a rating system. IGN even associates names with scores, and has a page explicitly detailing what every point means.
There are no polls to vote on the usefulness of the review text, which I would rate rather low for this site. Not because the quality is bad, but often (especially when the reviewer is gushing about a game) the review goes on and on until it reaches novella status. Not interested in sitting down and reading a review for half an hour.
Everyone assumes Nintendo is telling the truth? They always quash rumors, in absolute terms, regardless of whether or not they're true. Such as "there will not be a price cut for the Wii U this year." Followed by the announcement of a price cut what, two months later?
I believe they also stated they weren't going to announce any new hardware at E3 the year that they announced the Wii U.
I don't get it. That stream gives me a headache. The music, constant chat scrolling, and constant pausing just don't mesh well for me. I don't understand why this is so popular.
I have this and Turok 2.
Turok 2 is a much better game, but the controls are just impossible to get used to now.
Last time I tried playing it, I got through the first three or four levels and still found the controls awkward.
If Turok 2 got an HD remake, I'd be so happy.
It's a simple fact that used games are beneficial to everyone, including publishers and console manufacturers. Any economist would agree, but apparently Microsoft didn't hire one of those.
People who buy new games, then sell them, are getting money to buy more new games. Used games buyers won't suddenly increase their budget to buy the same amount of games new instead of used, they'll simply buy fewer games. The new games buyer who can't sell his games, likewise, will not increase his budget by the amount for which his games would have sold - he will simply stop buying.
Also, 3DO would be awesome.
It has the only non-PS versions of Road Rash (3D) and Return Fire (+ Maps O' Death), as well as the best versions of Gex, Another World, Alone in the Dark, and (arguably) Myst.
I still want to see The Guardian Legend. It's consistently missing from people's top ten lists, which can only lead me to the conclusion that almost no one has actually played it. Because it's pretty much the best game on the NES.
I don't understand all the doomsday stuff regarding Nintendo. Yes, they've lost money this year. Yes, their projected profits were reduced from 1+ billion to 284 million.
Sony lost a billion dollars in the PS3's first year. They lost money for the next 3 years. XBox 360 lost money for Microsoft in the first few years. Nintendo lost a whole bunch of money from the Virtual Boy fiasco.
Nintendo has plenty of money, and plenty of future profits. They are not in trouble. Also, the 3DS will easily recover when it finally gets some AAA titles.
Me too. I hope that camera spinning thing is an option, because I have no trouble telling left from right no matter what direction the car on the screen is facing.
"Hyrule Lake" -> "Lake Hylia" I was hoping they would add in some deleted content from the original that folks around here were talking about, but I'm definitely still picking this up, probably on Monday.
If it took 5 years to develop Skyward Sword, I'd say there's essentially no chance a Zelda will come out this year for Project Cafe. There could be one on the 3DS though.
@62: I am here! I will be downloading this soon as both of my NES copies have been loaned out. It might be time to change my avatar back to the weapons merchant.
Chrono Trigger (truly baffling), Crystalis, The Guardian Legend, and why hasn't Faxanadu been released in the US yet? Both of my NES copies have been borrowed and I've been getting the itch.
Apart from the mixed reviews, it's also a short game with little replay value (unless you're one of the few that decide to be bold and take on the harder difficulty). I bought the game of course, but if I wasn't a die-hard Nintendo/Metroid fan, I would say it's not worth more than a rent. I need to have it in my collection, but most players would benefit more from renting it, beating it, and returning it.
I love that when Faxanadu is announced, people immediately mention The Guardian Legend and Crystalis. Are we some sort of weird cult that loves these three games? Anyway, <3 Faxanadu, great game, everyone here should dl it. I will also be saddened if it doesn't get a 9/10 on this site.
To this bit, though: "so there might be a few spots where you will have to grind on enemies before you're strong enough to continue." The EXP system in Faxanadu is nothing like Zelda II. It only determines your "title" and how much gold you start out with the next time you die or load the game from your mantra. Your stats are based purely on the equipment you are using.
