I didn't participate in the comment section for a long time, but the @scully1888 reviews forced me too.
The reviews: FIFA 18 (Switch) - 8/10 NBA 2K18 (Switch) - Score Pending Metroid: Samus Returns - 10/10 Sky Ride (Switch eShop) - 5/10 Puzzled (Switch eShop) - 3/10
The average review ratio of 6.5 is absolutely ok, but in my opinion the bellow par games got degraded and the above par games got hyped. [The average review ratio from Nintendo Life is nearly 6.4, so I define "par" as a score between six and seven]
It's clear as daylight that reviews are driven by personal opinions, but I don't trust scully1888's scores. Credibility is the most valuable asset of a game review website...
One day - two switch puzzle game reviews!
I have finished all 204 Levels of the Boost Beast today. I completely agree with the verdict (luck, free-to-play origins). But I totally don't understand how a much more skill based puzzle game like Puzzled got degraded. I played the Japanese Version of the Game (Joy Joy Kid) on the Wii VC with the Hori Arcade Stick. It's a evening of hard work, but it's skill not luck! In my opinion this time the review score shows how familiar a reviewer is with the genre (not Tetris only), then the quality of the game itself.

There are 3 version of the game in Japan (2013, 2014, 2015). I played the 2015 Version about an hour and I liked it a lot. I never played this version (2013) but i think its a good decision from Teyon to bring it to the west.
To share controllers isn't a new Idea. Wheelspin for Wii allows 8-Player-Split-Screen-Multiplayer with multiple controller options; or the old Micro Machines on Snes. But the overload, the "ColourMaster"-Mode ... day one!
Nintendolife missed Crazy Constructions European release today. 5 times higher price than in the usa, but with the actual discount only 2 times. Joindots freaking price policy!
The premise "Pal Version" has fallen! It's time for some non-european Nintendo 64 gems: Ogre Battle, Tetris 64, Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, F-Zero Expansion Kit ...
Unfortunately oversexed females aren’t a new problem at Nintendo. The last years Wii U Exclusives Trailer (23rd Aug 2013) had a low-angle-shot form Bayonetta with spread legs and her unambiguous comment: “No one said you could touch!”
Unepic and Abyss cost together normally €11.98; with the discount they are „only“ €10.48. If you already own one of the games you have to pay the rest up to €10.48. The real discount is simply 12,5%.
@JulioMoruno I like a lot of your games, but please make next time a “real” promo. Even Nintendos Nes-Remix promotion offer is better if you only buy one NES game with 50%...
The core mechanics is from panel de pon. I like that the gravity-changes needs also a macht-3 move of three arrows. But is there a competitive multiplayer?
@HugoSmits Tappingo could be more than a simple time waster! The colour-mixing mechanics sounds interesting and brings a little more complexity to the formula. There is already a nice little colour-mixing match-three puzzler for Nintendo DS (Blend-it/Splash!) out there in Europe.
In comparison to fast-paced puzzle games, the challenge of logic puzzle games isn’t the speed, it is the complexity. Tappingo has solid mechanics but it is missing complexity. If I compare the complexity of Tappingo with other logic puzzle games like Illust Logic + Colourful Logic or Pic Pic it needs at best a few minutes to master the difficult levels inset of a half a hour or more… I hope the zoom mode would help to create bigger, especially more complex, puzzles. Tappingo isn’t a full price retail game, so 8 hours are a solid playtime, but it is 100x 5 Minutes inset of a real challenge.
If I look at the three screenshots, I don’t see the different background colours, I see three times an extremely easy to solve logic puzzle. In my opinion the soul of puzzle games are the mechanic and the complexity or speed… not background colours!
The Wiiware Version has some frustrating adaptations to the PSN Version: Multiplayer, backgrounds … As a “Nintendojuenger” I bought it on WiiWare, but I still prefer the Version on the Data East Arcade Classics.
What I expect from Renegade Kid: Target: $80’000 - Renegade Kid Game gets a digital release in the US Stretch Goals: $160’000 - Cartridge release in the US $200’000 - Gold cartridge in the US (homage to super famicom) … $250’000 digital European release
Always the same! DS offers much more. A little selection: Bokura no Telebi Game Kentei (similar to NEX Remix) Taisen!! Ka to Chan no Kororonpe! (similar to Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon) Might & Magic Clash of Heroes Maestro! Jump in Music Geometry Wars Galaxies Pic Pic Henry Hatsworth in the puzzling Adventure …
I’m a little disappointed from the puzzle-complexity, only 30 bubbles in 4/5 different colours - the most combos are created by dropping blocks from outside. In comparison to Puzzle Quest 64/7 or my favourite Puzzle Quest Galactrix 55/6 the opponents don’t use the bubbles, so you don’t have to anticipate their turns.
@kimimi Does the puzzle-mechanic from Puzzle & Dragons Z will get more complex and tactic?
I like this disproportionate advertising „Game Boy had Tetris, Nintendo DS had Picross. Now 3DS players get their puzzle craze called Tappingo!“
… they forgot, Picross is a Game Boy Game too (Picross, Picross 2) … DS has more than 500 Puzzle-Games and some of them with newer concepts similar to Tappingo, like Link-a-Pix (Pic Pic) … there are already a ton of Puzzle Games on 3DS, like Bomb Monkey … and my favourite – the line of ancestors: Tetris, Picross, Tappingo
Aside the promotion, I think Tappingo looks good and for me it is a day-one download.
"For example, we completed about five full areas with ease then happened upon a stage that took nearly twenty attempts to beat"
There are 9 different magical classes with different spells in the game (you could choose them by building the right structures). To notice this little “RPG-element” will help a lot – I played it (European Version) for more than 13h and nearly never died. I had about four glitches in the whole playtime. In my opinion Jewel Adventures is a “good” game – 7/10
Wow oversexed mature games! Not really impressed by the lame “no one said you could touch!” and the unambiguous pose at 3:16… I wish back “the good old” Nintendo with Samus and Birdo
