Those of you who follow the exploits of former Rare employees as closely as we do here at Nintendo Life may be aware of Raging Justice, a side-scrolling fighter inspired by Streets of Rage and Final Fight from Nic Makin, who worked at the UK studio on titles such as Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero.
Makin has been promoting the game tirelessly for the past few months with Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam being his target platforms initially. However, he has revealed to us that Switch is a "priority":
We don't know about you but we can't get enough of these old-school arcade brawlers, and this would be the perfect compliment to the superb Wulverblade. Would you buy this on Switch? Let us know by making a ruckus in the comments section below.

All I see if former Rare and no Yooka.....
It looks good but the animation is terrible.
The game doesn't look very good to me, but I'll wait and see, I guess.
Looks okay, I'll probably wait a little on it though. Most likely get the Switch version. I don't have an Xbox and don't think I'd want to play that on PC.
One day, I hope to read the words 'former Rare' in conjunction with a piece about a game that resembles a modern day GoldenEye/Perfect Dark...
If it comes, he can have my money. I'm a huge fan of side scrolling beat-em-ups.
That style is an uuuugly style.
I am not a big fan of the CGI aesthetics, but if the gameplay and content hold up I will put down my moneys.
Looks like Claymation...
Graphics are pretty hideous, but I'm a sucker for a good scrolling beat 'em up, so I'll keep an eye on it.
We'll see how this one shakes out. I'm more excited about The Takeover

@audiobrainiac That actually looks pretty decent. Let's insta-share it with the other NLife members:
I like side scrolling beatem ups so I will likely get this day one unless it bombs in reviews.
I’m actually struggling how to describe this art style.
@MagicEmperor How about "This is why Donkey Kong Country should not drink Baccardi Breezers when Pitfighter is in town"?
@audiobrainiac You should check out Fight'n rage on steam. It's $20 and is absolutely amazing!
Day one!
I'm more excited for The Takeover but having another beat em up that isn't a NES, Genesis, Super NES or NeoGeo port for Switch is a nice addition.
Can't have enough good side-scrolling beat 'em ups. If it's indeed of high quality, I'll buy it without hesitation.
@audiobrainiac @ThanosReXXX wow this one looks even better, I've missed these types of games. So this and Wulverblade can be the new Streets of Rage and Golden Axe 😃😃😃
@carlos82 That's how it felt for me too. Nice to see these kind of brawlers getting a comeback.
I also think that some of the animation, that quite a few people are wrongfully whining about, is intentional, to keep it as close to those classics as possible.
You can also more or less see that in the move sets of the characters, which are almost 1:1 carbon copies of those in the 16-bit games.
Can't wait! Day one purchase on Switch!
@ThanosReXXX you're right, if the animation was a bit slicker I don't think it would work. They really look they've captured the essence of what made these games so great in the first place. Frankly they could just call this Streets of Rage 4 and I don't think many would notice
@carlos82 Indeed. Well, I hope both these games sell well, because it would be a shame to see this type of game disappear into obscurity again.
The BoR engine and its almost infinite mods has kept me busy for quite some time, but nothing beats a professionally made side scrolling beat em up...
The Takeover looks better in my opinion, but i'll get both.
These kinda games i like, needs some work, but still like it alot already.
Bring it on.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Actually if you look at the old games like this (Streets of Rage for example), the way the animations play out are very similar in feel... they have that specific look to them... I would guess they are trying to mimic that.... less ‘terrible’ and more ‘throwback’.
I’d prefer it just to be smooth... but I see what they are doing.
@nunberry That’ll do!
@FTL That was due to limited technology back then. Those restrictions don't exist anymore.
It looks questionable, in the sense that I question how much I hate and/or love the look...
But I'll probably bite, I mean I'm still in love with the 90s and of course enjoy nonsensical violence, both of which lie pretty at the core of the beat 'em up genre. And this game appears to only double down those aspects, so... Hope it plays well!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE We'll see how it plays, could be a key aspect of the authentic feel. If the game feels bad and looks bad then it's just a silly gimmick.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I know that the limitation doesn’t exist, obviously - I’m saying they have clearly tried to emulate the classic look - my comment was simply clarifying the reason behind it’s look, in that it appears to be intentional.
I WANT IT!! YESTERDAY!
@ThanosReXXX forgot about that game! I want that one too!!
@joey302 Well, it's coming to the Switch, so all you have to do is open your wallet...
@ThanosReXXX open & ready!! In fact, My wallet is always open to video games since I’m 12!! Lol
yes.
