Accessories maker PDP is releasing a light-up dock protector for the Switch which provides the perfect way to play TV mode on Mario's upcoming adventure.
Available on November 10th, this officially licensed Super Mario Odyssey "dock shield" clips onto your existing dock and supplies a "custom LED light show". Two different designs are available (the other is Zelda) and there are 17 (count 'em) colour and effect settings to mess around with. The dock shield features an electronic base which connects to the dock via USB. Price to you? Just $19.99.
Here's some PR:
Decorate and protect your Switch dock with a custom LED light show! Provides 17 different color/light effect settings to transform your dock into a cool glowing display. Features an electronic base which holds the dock and connects to the dock via USB and 2 acrylic framing panels with Nintendo artwork. The blue Zelda one looks really cool!
I want to see some real life pictures first though before I consider it.
Ugly

Ugl- ..oh, wait, the blue Sheikah Slate one actually looks pretty cool!
Seems very tacky
Why "Shield", why not "Cover"? What are we shielding our dock from?
Does the base have more USB ports? Dock only has 2, and I'm already planning on using 1 for the Wii Ethernet adapter. $20 just for pretty isn't really my thing, but if it adds some more ports I could probably talk myself into the Mario one.
Edit: OK, now I'm a little confused. It says, on the Amazon page as well as here, that it clips onto the dock. But on the MArio designs you can clearly see the Switch touchscreen thru the shield, there is NO dock there, you can see the outline border of the Switch all the way to the bottom. That's some serious false advertising if this clips onto the dock but the dock isn't even in the pic.
I...... actually want this.
That's really quite awesome and for 20 bucks it's a must buy. I just can't decide which one to go with. I like both games but am more of a Zelda fan. Problem is I don't really like the design of the Zelda one. The Sheikah eye is too bland. Probably go with the Odyssey version.
The Zelda one is awesome... Pre ordered.
Also it comes with both designs, you don't have to choose so that's nice.
Looks neat, not something I would ever get but cool nonetheless
So if your dock isn't already too hot, why not put a light on it
I like the idea, and if I liked Zelda more I'd be all over that thematically-appropriate Sheikah one. I'll just hold out for a Splatoon one, or maybe just a non-game-specific one with RGB.
These look freaking sweet, but I don't really know what they protect the dock from? The dock is a crappy piece of solid plastic, I don't really care if it gets scuffed or whatever. Plus I take care of my electronics anyway.
@LiberatedAnimal I agree about the Zelda design. I would prefer the Hylian crest or other imagery. If I do purchase, I’ll go for the Mario cover.
I don’t like that it uses the USB port since I have my wireless headset connected there.
Pre-ordering right now. I will say that I enjoy the fact that rather than making custom systems (baring MHXX) nintendo is focusing on customizing accessories so that you can "build" your own custom Switch.
@gb_nes_gamer Yeah or even sort of a game scene like they did for Mario. Maybe a shot of a landscape with a shrine and a tower in it or something.
@rjejr the dock has 3 USB ports, 2 on the side and 1 in the back and the picture just looks like a mock up. I'd want one if I could see the real unit and if they'd deliver to the UK 😔
@Mr_Zurkon you've still got 2 spare then 😃
@carlos82 lol, I never noticed. I always thought there was just the one under the door. Oops
@Mr_Zurkon I only mentioned because a friend of mine did the same when trying to work out how to connect a couple of Hori pads, he looked at me puzzled when I said why not just plug them both in 😃
@carlos82 thanks for pointing that out. It cleaned up some cable mess and stops the switching for the pro controller etc. learn something new everyday.
@Mr_Zurkon you're welcome
rjejr needs to stfu... S T F U
