I loved Splatoon on Wii U, didn't play 2, and have a hard time getting into 3. Maybe I'll pick 3 back up once I finish catching up on the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC.
I loved the video, who would have thought that the old art style was influenced by Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball. That makes it even more special to my 90s kid heart 🤣
If I didn’t have the Tears of The Kingdom OLED I probably would sell it for cheap on a local marketplace. But I regret not keeping any of my old special edition consoles so I’m going to hold on to it.
The only company I see Nintendo even flirting with the idea of being acquired by is Apple. Both companies have a history of respecting each other and Nintendo is more likely to trust another “locked-down” company with a walled garden that protects the Nintendo IP than it is a direct competitor like MS.
I got to play the game yesterday at Nintendo Live. It’s really good, the controls are super snappy and responsive compared to the new Super Mario games. There are a lot of new upgrades outside of power ups, ability badges allow for all sorts of crazy things like charge jumps and extra wall jumps.
I think it’s going to do great and in my opinion it’s worth the pre-order. I hope you all enjoy it when it releases!
Master mode should come in the same DLC as Sheikah tech if they bring it back.
Guardians should be in the depths and enemies could be gloom covered when not in sunlight(night time and caves would get a decent difficulty boost)
Zonai enemies should have more advanced weapons such as ones with elemental effects right from the start. Maybe even a new discharge that acts as an elemental explosion if you’re too close when they are defeated at the end of their death animation.
Trial of the sword located at the zonai temple of time would be awesome if it unlocked after getting every sage. Then it could have a boss at the end of every 20 rooms
I really like that the story of TOTK is essentially a mix of Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time. Ever since they relegated the other games to the era of myth I’ve always assumed every game released before BOTW is an incorrect telling of Hyrules history. TOTK strengthens that theory MUCH further.
At this point I believe all the games we’ve played leading up to this series are different interpretations of history by Hyrules races, leading to clashing events and timelines. When in reality, this soft reboot with BOTW and TOTK will be the first series of games to show the “new” canon going forward.
@Friendly I don’t think a new consoles coming out until AFTER Mario Kart 8 Deluxe receives its final wave of DLC at the end of 2023. I just don’t see Nintendo overlapping generational releases like that.
I’ll probably buy the new dock for ethernet and looks, but I’m disappointed they didn’t add wifi 6 to the OLED model. Could’ve fixed all the poor wifi problems with comparable latency to a wired connection.
@Piyo Ehhh, I switched from Mac to PC for a beefy VR ready gaming computer that I barely touch after 2 years in comparison to my Switch and I’m planning on switching back to the new purple iMac this year. I like the idea of retro handhelds for emulation and rarely use my PC for it anyways.(minus my yearly paper Mario playthrough haha)
@abdias I like how you skipped my point that I can’t earn coins the only possible way to earn coins because of spoofers. I don’t want to pay to catch up with them because the legit way is being taken advantage of. That was the whole point, yet somehow it zoomed right above your head. Clearly I thought better of you when I commented a legitimate reason. Good luck with that.
@abdias Spoofing is a major issue with gym control in my local area. You can take a gym and be the only person physically within radius and you’ll lose it immediately to the local spoofers. I can’t earn coins this way(nobody playing legit can really) and so I buy coins over time in order to “catch up” so to speak with those taking an unfair advantage.
That actually directly affects myself and others ability to play on equal ground with other players. And that’s not involving the people that spam our local Pokémon GO pages on the internet with regionals for sale.
Overall it’s actually annoying when you’re playing it as a fitness/walking game as it was intended to be played/
@JustMe while it’s somewhat sad it’s not gonna be on release I do feel confident of it happening eventually. I’m one of those people that’s still salty they took the underwater fights out after MH3U so there’s really nothing that can disappoint me too much though haha.
I’ll double dip on this game for sure. Play it on Switch for a year then get the PC version next year. Anybody know if we got confirmation of g-rank? That’s actually the whole reason I never bought Worlds was the lack of it at launch.
3U was my first Monster Hunter game. I played the demo then entirely gave up on it. Bought it for 3DS one day for reasons I don’t remember and then became obsessed halfway through low rank. Felt like such a badass taking out my first duramboros. Then I got the Wii U version and started doing g rank quests online at the beginning of high rank(risky move, I got booted a lot). 4U was amazing and I loved the insect glaive being added although since then I can’t stand playing the weapon with how much it changes every game. Played Generations and Generations Ultimate but not Worlds. However Rise looks and plays like the best I saw of worlds with the best of main line Monster Hunter.
The movie looks awful so far but I don’t know why you had to phrase it as
“ facing off against a large demon-like creature that looks like it's been pulled straight from the DOOM or Diablo series. To be fair, the IGN description does make mention of Diablos”
It makes it sounds like you’re unaware the Diablos as shown in the trailer is 1:1 to the games and has been in Monster Hunter since gen 1 on the PS2. You might know of course, but it came off otherwise.
I’m wary of scalpers but I don’t hate them as much, It really depends on what they are selling. For instance, I had no problem paying 450 USD for a Nintendo Switch because the scalper I bought it from received it before release date and I got to have the console in hand two days before the official release. But the Amiibo scalpers are scum for buying out all of the Amiibos to create the scarcity in the first place.
No way it’s a port. It’s being developed by Hal Laboratories and it’s copyright is 2018. If it were a port the original release date of 2014 would be there. They are deliberately hiding characters and showing that green tunic Link is no more. The logo is different and they gave it a CG trailer rather than show any gameplay.
@OorWullie I was having the same graphics discussion last night with my girlfriend (who does not care in any way whatsoever xD), the game looks SUPER polished. As for posting, there is a big red box on the left side of the main hub against the shops.
The Wii U was a failure, period. Do I hate the console? No! It’s probably my favorite home console I ever had(before the switch). All it’s going to take is this holiday season, that’s all it will take to either make or break(in terms of overtaking Wii sales) Nintendo just has to do their part of ensuring there is a good amount of stock for sale and they are in the perfect position to overtake Wii sales. I’m not saying they will for sure, but I’m saying that all this arguing is moot until we see the missing advantage the switch hasn’t had yet(being holiday sales of course).
@Darkhound1999 I literally drove home from work extremely depressed since I sold my PS4 to get a Switch. But I DO plan on getting the Xbox One X so this saved my day.
It's only useful in 50cc other sites are claiming you will get rekt in any other. I'm the oldest of 6, the youngest always want to be involved, this is perfect. Claiming that it dumbs the game down when it's optional is just plain stupidity.
Looks exciting, I initially didn't care about the game but it looks very hard to put down in comparison to classic fighting games (tekken, street fighter, marvel vs capcom, etc) which get old since they are primarily combo based and don't quite have the depth of the arena style fighter.
@roadrunner343 I'll admit I was waiting for a Nintendo specific example before I gave credit. Which in itself was an absurd yet aggressive tactic to use. As for the insults and mockery, looks like we have the same opinion. I'm still in the boat of thinking it's not reasonable to want a discount on the basis of already having it, but you have an example that hits every point I said would constitute as a real criticism so there's no need for this to continue past where it is now.
@Joeynator3000 my fiancé pointed out it looks like I'm calling you a child, so I'll just clear that up now and say that's not the case. Poor wording on my part but you get the idea.
@Joeynator3000 for sure, I still don't agree with them but I think we all should calm down, we made our arguments and it's clear we won't agree on this subject. I'll call it a stalemate and not claim to win anymore. I forget children use this site as well, so consider this an apology.
@roadrunner343 you know what you got yourself into when you defended the point of people feeling like they should get a discount. Like I said, I'm not the only person who called you out on this. It's whatever for me though, you took too long to make a legitimate point (that Nintendo has re-released at lower prices before) and so the arguments were made and the damage is done. As much as I would love to argue with a stranger on the internet forever (which seems like you might as well based on the fact that you are also continuing this argument alongside me) I have to get ready for work, feel free to reply of course, I'll check the thread if I have the time during the day.
@roadrunner343 first of all, the insult is the only thing needed for the validation of my point, anyone with a decent understanding of arguments and debate knows this to be a fact. I'm not the only one who has called you out on defending the position of those that feel entitled to a discount. And for your little example where my reasoning trumps yours, that doesn't mean your stance of thinking it's overpriced was necessarily incorrect, you just used the wrong critical reasoning for it. If you thought it was overpriced because games in general are overpriced, that's fair. If the game suddenly cost more than the original retail value for any reason, lo and behold another legitimate reason! If they removed features in any way, holy poop...another legitimate reason. You don't know what you are doing here and it's evident in all of your replies. Feel free to continue to try, maybe you will get somewhere. Or maybe you won't, as you continue to leave yourself open to harsher criticisms with every comment you make.
@roadrunner343 way to put words in my mouth, I never said people weren't allowed to think it's overpriced. I simply argued against those who think they are entitled to a discount. Is it bullpoop Rime is 10 dollars more on Switch? Yes, that is a reasonable complaint. Is it bulldrome you don't get a discount for a different version of a game you already have? No, not at all. You don't really seem to know how to argue without leaving yourself more vulnerable, so I would recommend you go practice in a mirror before you reply.
@roadrunner343 I never said people aren't allowed to critique. My point is that criticisms should never be based on entitlement, but based on legitimate facts and a bare bones amount of reasoning skills. My reasoning supersedes yours because your reasoning is "I already bought it they should pander to me" when the reality is that they are selling it for core fans that will buy it happily for the new features and the large amount of new Nintendo console owners that never bought it on Wii U.
I'm buying it again for portability and Lan play. If you have an issue paying another 60 dollars then that's a you problem, the switch is going to have a FAR larger userbase than the Wii U so it only makes sense to release an improved version of the game for full price, it's making up for the failure of the Wii U. If you don't want to pay full price you don't have to, this game wasn't really re-released for entitled snowflakes.
"The game that set out to be a nostalgia filled better graphic version of banjo-kazooie is really underwhelming because even though it looks beautiful it's too much like a nostalgia filled return to banjo-kazooie"
That is all I'm seeing from the reviews, this was a niche game with a specific purpose and it seems to hit every point it went for other than some PS4 performance issues. I actually just cancelled my Xbox one preorder so I can get it on Switch. The toy box demo is extremely rough around the edges but if the game performs at least equal to it then I'm game.
@JudgeMethos I used the Wii U web browser often but only because I could stream from plex, once I stopped using plex media server I never really used a console web browser again (minus the here and there testing to see if I could watch dragonball super on my ps4)
Home themes, GC VC support, and the announcement of other joycon style accessories that can lock in would be fantastic. VR support is something they finally need to explain, 720p will not work for VR and I think we may have another 400-500 dollar VR accessory (looking at you my lovely wallet defying PSVR),albeit with its own screen and power supply. Also take that weird supplemental computing patent from forever ago and it may have its own hardware to boost the switch, we don't know.
@ballistic90 I thought I was the only one and ignored it, I discovered the fix within a minute. I also discovered that the joycon wasn't put in the console all the way the night before, it pulled right out.(but that shouldn't have anything to do with the issue)
@Spoony_Tech Again, another whiny android user that didn't even watch the announcement. It is a timed exclusive, It will be on Android shortly after. Developers are smarter to put paid apps on the iOS app store first because the App store has more paid app downloads than android and because Apple pays more money to devs than android. That large chunk of money made by being on iOS first helps developers get through developing it for another platform and making sure it gets to Android in the best possible quality. Paid apps being on iPhone first have a better chance of having a solid release on Android.
