@HugoSmits If you believe the people working on the project should be huge MegaMan fans, that's fine by me. I understand that argument. But your argument against a female playable character is weak. Why does a female robot make less sense than a male robot in a video game? That's ridiculous.

The most telling part of this ridiculous discussion is that people are throwing around the terms 'feminist' and 'sexist' about this woman. Can anyone show me an example of something she has done to back up those claims? A female robot drawing does not count.

The only sexism on display here is by the fools in this discussion thread who heard 'woman' and 'feminist' and bought into it without the tiniest bit of research. Have you ever even used the internet?

@Yorumi The ridiculous thing about this whole fabricated controversy is that she has done no opinion pushing whatsoever. She is a woman working on a game development project. She drew a picture of a female robot on the forums for the game. Later on she was hired by the company. Her wider social media life is what's got people all bent out of shape. Like many people on Twitter, she tweets on a wide variety of subjects that she finds interesting. When some people in the community found out she was hired by Comcept, they saw the female robot drawing, freaked out, and started investigating her every public utterance. Once they saw she dared tweet things that they disagreed with, they attacked. She panicked, locked her Twitter feed and deleted some posts. Probably not the best move, but are these signs of opinion pushing in her role in the game's development? No. The whole thing is blown way out of proportion. The internet is good at that.

She's originally from Lebanon. Read just the first paragraph from the Wikipedia page "Women in Lebanon" and you'll be advocating for women's rights too. People's opinions on social issues are not formed in a vacuum. They are often based on personal experience, which should be considered before you completely disregard an opinion you find distasteful.

I think after the difficulty the Wii U has faced, and after the consolidation of their hardware units earlier this year, and now this semi-consolidation of the eShops, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Nintendo goes with only one piece of hardware next generation that does everything the 3DS and Wii U do, but in one package. Play on your tv with 2-3 screens or with traditional controllers, or take it on the road and play games in the cloud. It would basically be sold as the new handheld with a minimalist tv box.

The more I play Lego City Undercover, the more I appreciate the way the gamepad is used. It's a shame the Lego Marvel game didn't do the same. Here's to hoping they will with this one, but considering it's multiplatform, I would expect not.

I was confused for a second when I thought the Johnnie Walker Blue Label ad was part of the press release.

The Motley Fool "articles" are actually all opinion pieces written by anyone willing to make an account, so there's no company line, as it were. There are some spectacularly untie searched pieces that show up on there, so I think the require us are very light.

Just put Mario in a cat suit all over the internet. Kids will want that.

To be fair, arguing (respectfully) about console sales is the bread and butter of gaming websites. What else is there to speculate on?

This I certainly agree with. I see it happening with my nephews. They want the new games, but there are plenty of games for Wii that are cheap and fun enough...and they usually come from me for free because I've finished with them.

@B-Squared Not only do they like to pretend, they get paid for doing so. Being an analyst is akin to being an actor, you memorize and repeat your lines to people and eventually start to believe some of them yourself.

I think 25 million is a low estimate. It's increasingly unlikely that the Wii U can do Wii numbers, but I think 40-50 million is achievable.

If they made an SSX for Wii U, I'd buy it. Other than that, meh.

I think cat Mario definitely helps, as we all know the internet loves cats. In fact, I'm surprised I haven't seen a single "I can has Mario" joke.

If it plays half as amazingly as it looks, I'll be an early adopter.

Interesting. It would be a great idea. Younger and younger children are using tablets in school and at home to play educational games.

So I'm confused. I have a Wii U and am planning to get a 3DS. If I'm understanding this correctly, I have to create a new Nintendo ID for the 3DS, but the two separate accounts will use the same funds? Please tell me I have that wrong.

Yeah, if it was playable with physical buttons I might try it. Clones aren't really a new phenomenon in the video game world, this at least looks like a respectable piece of work.

It's about as appealing to me as buying Wii U Party for the wiimote. I might just get both. I wish there was a bundle for the Mario and Luigi themed wiimote+. Those are the ones I'd really like, they would fit nicely with the Zelda themed one I have from my Skyward Sword purchase.

This is as it should be. Karaoke is for singing songs you already know, so it should be easy to avoid inappropriate songs if that's a concern.

I just ordered this from Amazon (US), it was the last copy available. This is also my first non-digital retail game. It looks like a great game that I'll play exactly once, so I'll finish it and promptly sell it.

I may be wrong, but I don't see Wii Fit U being a big seller. I hope Nintendo also realizes this and that is why they're offering it for free. But honestly, this is not the system seller they need and if Iwata really thinks it is, I don't know what to say.

I have so far bought no games at retail. I have six full games, several from the eshop and several vc. That said, price is an issue. If I didn't have the 10% digital promotion going for me, I would likely buy all my full games at retail. Amazon almost always has cheaper prices plus I'll be able to give the games to my nephews when I'm finished with them.
