It got such bad press that I was unlikely to buy anyway. Could have been fun to pick up in the bargain bin at some point, but oh well. Maybe they'll actually try to fix it and then release on Wii U later or maybe release as download-only to avoid being stuck with thousands of unsold physical copies.

That's a shame. I would have bought this if the reviews weren't so terrible.

I hope this works out. I definitely want to support these developers.

I downloaded this after playing one course on the demo. Great fun.

@PinkSpider The article says the Wii U version is being done by Vicarious Visions, like the PS3 and 360 versions. It's the Wii version that is getting the Beenox treatment.

I did my part. I just played the demo and one course was all it took. I immediately downloaded the full game. It's cheaper through the eShop with the Deluxe Promotion than it is on Amazon. Easy decision.

This just went from THE Wii U game to get in February to a lesser title among many in the fall. Odd decision.

Yeah, I'll probably buy this soon while I wait for Mario Kart.

I actually think this is pretty cool. I often use Google Maps at home, but this seems more like a touring/learning tool than a mapping tool. Based on that video, it looks like they're pushing the whole 360 degree view feature, which I think is pretty cool. Never been to Notre Dame? Never been to the pyramids in Giza? This looks like a very cool way to tour them from your home.

I will definitely be buying this. I've heard nothing but good things about it. The fact that it looks like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger certainly helps.

It's hard to justify buying retail download titles at full price. There are several I would consider, like Mario titles, because I would likely keep them forever anyway, but at full price and no ability to lend the game to family/friends, I don't see myself taking that route too often. If Nintendo gave me more incentive, I would definitely switch over to retail downloads and which would probably mean fewer used games as well.

As far as download only games, I have no problem buying.

@bluecat It's priced below manufacturing cost. They've said they're selling each unit at a loss.

It's not time for a price cut and good to hear that from Iwata. Knowing a price cut is not forthcoming might spur those fence sitters to just pony up and buy it.

He is the president after all. If he doesn't understand how the market is changing and how to capitalize on that, then it might make sense for him to move on. I'm not saying I want this to happen, and we can't assume his replacement would do any better, but presidents are supposed to have the vision and know-how to perform successfully. I personally think things will start to turn around in the next few months, but all the delays are not helping.

The cost to 'upgrade' VC games reminds of when iTunes started selling DRM-free music tracks. You were able to upgrade songs you previously bought from them for a small-ish fee. Unfortunately I have a lot of VC titles. Upgrading all of them will cost me a pretty penny.

@Geonjaha They're not rentals. It's a promotional sale for the anniversary of the Famicom to get people to try the Wii U virtual console. Not rentals. I promise. After the first 30 days on sale they go to regular price. It's very clear in the Direct video.

According to Joystiq the controls are completely customizable on all controllers. Well done Nintendo.

Regarding the GBA VC: putting this on Wii U is an interesting idea. The gamepad obviously makes gamboy games a no-brainer on the system. I think this also shows where Nintendo might be heading in their next hardware iteration. As they hinted previously, some kind of hybrid portable/home console. Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

I've always wondered if new colors or prints actually make people decide they want a console/handheld. It's not really a selling point for me. Are there people holding off buying as they wait for a particular color design or who trade in equivalent systems just to get a different one?

Looking forward to your review, though from what I've already heard this is a solid addition to the eShop and a definite purchase.

This is cool. I'd like to see this expanded to more regions of the world. I'd likely buy a few more games just to check out what's coming from different regions.

Nintendo seems to be making some good choices in their courting of indie developers. That makes me very happy. Hopefully they can keep this up.

That's not what I'm implying at all. If a game is never available at retail, then it is a download title. When the term "retail" no longer has any meaning in regard to video games, pricing on a downloadable game cannot be based on the idea that a game is also available in retail. So if there are still higher priced downloadable games in the no-retail future, how will they be marketed in comparison to games that cost less. It's just a thought and not a value judgement on retail or download-only games.
