Re: Violent Video Games Blamed for Knife Attack in Scotland

NESguy94

If you have kids that are parents at 13 you probably has other issues you should address before going after video games. That said, GoW is one of the most gruesome games I've seen and the online modes only make it less kid-friendly. I don't blame the game but it can't be helping his condition.

Re: Hardware Review: MaxPlay Wii U In-Car Adapter

NESguy94

I wish I was a kid again, I got so much more time to game when I didn't have to drive myself anywhere. Nah, just kidding, driving is awesome.

I live in Michigan and because of the extreme temperature flux the roads have horrible potholes everywhere. We officially have the second worst roads in the US (Alaska is #1), so I could see this ending poorly for either the hard drive or disk drive. Great idea though.

Re: Weirdness: Tetris May Be An Ideal Cure For Lazy Eye

NESguy94

I have an issue with the muscles in my eyes so whichever eye I am not focusing with wanders. Recently I have had to close one eye to play video games and read; I am going to need quite a bit of "eye therapy" or surgery to correct this. I hope video games can help a little or work to keep this from getting worse. Even if it does work I probably won't be able to see 3D images.

Re: Woman Finds Extremely Rare NES Game At Goodwill Store

NESguy94

These are a FEW of my good finds. These came with games that were either good or rare.

SNES with 20 games for $40
SNES with 15 games for $45
CIB NES with 30 games for $50
CIB N64 with 10 CIB games and 15 loose carts for $20
Captain Commando CIB $1
10 boxed NES games for $5 (Total)
Virtual Boy with 6 games for $60
A GameCube with 15 games, a wavebird and a Nintendo Brand Controller for $30
A lot of over 100 games with 8 systems for $100. (I sold the stuff I already had for $175 and kept about 7/8 of it)
The first 6 Megaman games for $50

And I just bought my Deluxe Wii U for $350 but it came with 6 Wii U games, 3 Wii games. In the end I made $150 off of 5 of the games I sold (I owned 3 and and didn't want Orichi Hyper and I didn't need another version of Monster Hunter) I So if you think about it, I got my Wii U for FREE. (I kept Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, Scribblenauts Unlimited and Sonic Racing). The deal got even better when I went to download Trine 2 and found approximately $100 eshop worth of downloads on it, most of which I was going to buy anyways

Final one. A fellow collector that I trade with found Fire n' Ice for the Nintendo for $1. He got it from a man who found it in the ditch next to his house

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

NESguy94

For everyone who is saying be patient, you need to have a solid line-up day oe that gets people excited and interested. While the comment about OoT is out of place, I agree. Nintendo used to be a powerhouse that few dared to mess with and even fewer could compete with. Nintendo NEEDS to make stuff that people want.

I have collected Nintendo games and memorabilia for years but I still haven't bought a Wii-U. Why? Nintendo hasn't made it an irresistible console like we have seen in the past. From day 1 the SNES, N64 and Wii had amazing success. Good games and well used innovation sold systems. The Wii U was innovative but it is still behind consoles that are 7 years old. I do have to say that LEGO City Undercover and Mario Bros U have tempted me. (I really want a collectors edition.

Nintendo needs to listen to their fans. They have done a pretty good job of giving us what we want in the way of games but the systems are lacking. I think if you can satisfy us you should have no trouble selling a console. The Wii U is not doomed, it just hasn't gained enough momentum yet,

Re: Feature: The Building Blocks for a LEGO City

NESguy94

I had almost every LEGO game on the PC. Lego Island and Lego Island 2 were two of the games that really got me into gaming. Land, Loco and Racers were also in my collection. Did TT make Alpha Team as well? That was a puzzle game that was ahead of its time.

Re: Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma

NESguy94

Don't fix it if ain't broke. Digital downloads have too many negatives for me. As a collector and as a gamer I don't like it. If I can have a tangible copy, I will take that over a download any day. DRM is getting to be a huge issue as well. The fact that a download cannot be sold is problem for me as well. I don't often sell games (except duplicates) but I want to be able to get my cash back if the need arises. I have 100s of old school games sitting on my shelves, that took time and effort. If I said I have hundreds of ROMs on my PC you would be less than impressed. I think collecting is fun as well. It's great to pull out a rare game or console and talk about it. I meet collectors all the time and we compare stories of amazing finds or outrageously rare items. I'm only going to buy digitally when I have no other choice.

Re: The Nintendo DS Celebrates its 8th Birthday in Europe Today

NESguy94

I saved up and bought mine a little more than 7 years ago along with Super Mario 64 DS and Nintendogs. I have had 5 DSs now. An original that I sold to get a DS lite, that broke and I bought a new lite for $20! I then bought another lite that was opened but new for $10! After that I fixed an original for a friend who then gave it to me. I still have 2 of them (one of each) and a 3DS.

Re: Pachter: Wii U Will Sell Between 30 to 50 Million Units During Its Lifetime

NESguy94

Wait, Pachter did a side-by-side comparison of one real item, an announced item and an unannounced item. I'm not sure but you might want to wait for a week of sales before you make predictions like this. The PSP and PSVita were supposed to take over the handheld market because of their power and graphics and they never came close. The PS4 sounds great but its price will probably turn people away. Sony just doesn't have a huge following (in the US at least). Saying the WiiU will sell worse than the next Microsoft console is laughable at this point. We know nothing about this XBOX 720. Finally, Nintendo has SO much money. Even if the WiiU does flop they can keep going. Look at the Virtual Boy. It failed miserably, but Nintendo came back kicking with the N64. The doom and gloom isn't going to work on me.

Re: Feature: Series Reboots That Have Divided Gamers

NESguy94

I played all of these except ZombiU and Castlevania and all of them were great.

Metroid: Other M had its issues, like when Samus practically commits suicide by entering a lava area without the Varia suit equipped because Adam hadn't authorized it. Samus always came across as Bounty Hunter who wasn't confined by rules. I actually liked that she narrated the game though, it allowed her to remain an almost silent protagonist while explaining the story in her own words. Even though we never see her display emotion in other Metroid games, the emotions remind us that she is only human. Her outburst when she sees the new Ridley for the first time is often frowned upon but it made sense and wouldn't have made sense any other way. Other than that I have no complaints about any of these other games. Kid Icarus was amazing and was a welcome sight to us fan who played the originals.

The original New Super Mario Bros wasn't as good as Mario 3 or Mario World but it set the bar high for other modern platformers. I sadly cannot say that about the versions on the Wii and 3DS. Luigi's Mansion was totally different from anything we had seen before and even though it has made him look like a coward, it was an excellent game. The motion controls in Skyward Sword were a little weird especially after 14+ games without them. They did work though and it made for a unique experience. While I do like classic button controls better, it was great to try something different.

Re: Talking Point: The Slippery Slope of Micro-Transactions

NESguy94

I am not a big fan of DLC but I hate Micro transactions. They may work with iOS games because they are cheap or free to download but we are already paying $40-70 on new games. I wouldn't pay extra just to have a better gun or vehicle because I play to have fun; I don't turn gaming into an all out war on my competition, doing anything it takes to win. I can understand downloading new levels like Fire Emblem or the Force Unleashed though because they actually add to the game

This is one big reason I won't buy games by EA anymore, although NFS Most Wanted looks pretty sweet.

Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation 4 Poses a Fresh Challenge for Wii U in the 2013 Holidays

NESguy94

It is impressive but is there enough for it to sell well for a decent profit. I have to say, the Capcom game, the Squenix video, 3D drawing and Watch Dogs are all really impressive. This is the first time since the PS that I was truly interested in a Sony console. I think that Sony could score big by pulling the Halo fans to the PS4 with Bungie (No pun intended). The Wii-Us early momentum and price might put the hurt on Sony.

Re: 3DS eShop Version Of Gunman Clive Outsells Android Edition

NESguy94

This is such a great game! It is easily worth $/€2. This is the game reminds me a lot of the original Megaman games in the way that it plays. I love how they don't hold your hand and tell you how to do everything: you solve the puzzles and figure out how to take out the enemies by yourself.

Re: Nintendo of America Offering Free Retail Game To New 3DS XL Buyers

NESguy94

@Krem You got it for Christmas, how did you get screwed if you didn't pay for it? I bought mine on day one for $250 and there was an $80 price drop right away. You are always better off to wait and buy a later version of the console most times.

With the original NES, the second version is superior as it doesn't have issues with the pins. The N64 and Gameboy got better color schemes. The Wii got a better laser. With almost every system except the Virtual Boy, more or better games were included with later releases and of course the Special Editions always come out after launch.

@Bucanziai Both are great but Miracle Mask will last you a lot longer if you have played StarFox 64 before. Miracle Mask has a 30+ hour story and new puzzles daily. StarFox takes about 45 minutes to beat the first time but has amazing replay value.
