Re: PSA: You Can Still Play One Game Across Two Switches, But Not Online Anymore

Mushvision

@PikminMarioKirby Huh… I thought Nintendo were doing cheaper digital everywhere starting from Switch 2, but I just checked the US site and MKW is $79.99 for both digital and physical 🤔

In the UK, it’s £74.99 for physical, but £66.99 for digital. Only £8 cheaper, but I think that’s a fair offer.

In Japan, physical is ¥8,980 and digital is ¥9,980. A difference in ¥1000, similar to the £8 difference for the UK version.

No idea why NoA still insists on the same prices for physical and digital. Digital should always be cheaper, if the physical version is entirely on the cartridge, because you’re not paying for the storage medium.

Re: No, Tomonobu Itagaki's Game Studio Hasn't Shut Down, It's Just Had A Name Change

Mushvision

I wrote a review for Devil’s Third back in the day. Gave it a 7 for some performance issues in solo and it feeling a little rough round the edges, but damn, this game had some really cool mechanics and the online components were really interesting!

I honestly want Devil’s Third to be given another lease of life. I know there are other people out there who enjoyed it as I did, due to the comments above and also the clan I joined in-game.

Man, that online mode was so good…

Re: Back Page: Which Is The Best Controller Button, And What Does Your Pick Say About You?

Mushvision

I’ll pick A for “Actually, the A button being on the right hand side of the face buttons was normalised by both Nintendo and Sony in Japan.”

In Japan, it was common for the PlayStation’s “O” button to be “confirm” and “X” to be “deny”. It was just the western branch of PlayStation that opted for the bottom button being the “confirm” button.

I haven’t used a PS5, but I think I remember reading that Sony of Japan has adopted the bottom “A” button now too.

I think “A” being on the right side is fine, but I also don’t mind the “A” button placement on the Xbox controller.

Re: Video: Switch Online Could Learn A Lot From Xbox Game Pass

Mushvision

I didn’t even touch too much on Xbox on my previous comment, but I’ll just follow up with the thought that I believe Xbox just has the best ecosystem across generations. I never owned an Xbox One, but I love how I can still download most of my 360 games on my Series S and some of them even get performance and visual boosts, which is really cool.

If there’s one thing I hope Nintendo learns from MS/Xbox, it’s evolving their ecosystem to always include access to previous generations of games. I hope Nintendo keeps running with the concept of the Switch, just improving the hardware with each “generation”. I think the Switch is a perfect concept and I really don’t want Nintendo to deviate from that.

Re: Video: Switch Online Could Learn A Lot From Xbox Game Pass

Mushvision

I love seeing a bunch of complaining about Nintendo’s online, but I had a pretty much lag free playthrough of Super Mario 3D World on Switch with 3 friends. We all have fairly decent internet and were on a wired connection.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve experienced some lag in games, but only when playing with randoms or people with low dl/ul speeds. “Good online” won’t really improve much if the people using it have potato connections.

On topic, I have an Xbox Series S and a Nintendo Switch. I also use PC Game Pass to play some games too. Game Pass is a great service, but it has also been going around for a lot longer than Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack (which is an absolute mouthful, so I’ll refer to it as NSO+EP going forward)

Game Pass has been around for almost… 5 years? And it’s clearly providing what it advertises. It’s a pass that allows you to play a variety of games for as long as you stay subscribed to the service. Over the years, they’ve added things such as EA Play and Bethesda games, which actually both happened somewhat recently (within the last year or so). It’s undoubtedly fantastic value for the entry price.

Now moving over to NSO+EP, which I honestly think gets too much bad press, because it isn’t Game Pass. There is a clear difference though, NSO at a base is a service, much like Xbox Live Gold which allows users to participate in games online and use certain online features. (Along with some other stuff)

NSO+EP is an upgraded version of this already existing service, with the marketing geared towards subscribers having access to N64 and Mega Drive titles. If it was just these two benefits, I’d question the worth of the service.

However, it launched with access to a meaty Animal Crossing expansion, in addition to the recently announced Booster Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Now, so I think it’s worth it on the basis of a single user subscribing to the service? Well, that’s a subjective thing, because everyone values things differently and I understand for some people, it might be too steep to swallow and they’d rather just buy the DLC — Which is absolutely fine, of course!

However, if you have a family subscription and a few of the people on it want to play the Animal Crossing DLC and a few of them want to play the Mario Kart DLC, the value of the service really skyrockets in my opinion. (Okay, you don’t need to own the Mario Kart DLC to actually play it, but to play it offline you do.)

I’m a happy family subscriber of NSO+EP and I’ve only dabbled in the Animal Crossing DLC. We have a full plan, with everyone contributing to it and the yearly price is so minor that I can’t even remember how much those guys have to pay me. (I’ll have to check that when we renew lol)

I’m aware that a lot of people will disagree with me, but honestly, that’s fine. I’m just happy that I can grab 7 of my friends from all corners of the world and share a sub with them for a fraction of the price! No skin off my back! 😃

Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?

Mushvision

I hate when people are upset by games having such a bevy of British accents, because honestly for the longest time we've had mostly American or RP British, you know that typical BBC broadcasting voice.

I like that nowadays there's a wealth of variety, just like there is in the UK itself. Everyone knows who Troy Baker, Yuri Lowethal and Laura Bailey are. They're all great VO artists, but let's give some of the smaller British VO talent take some of the work too, please.

Diversity is good and if you don't think so.. well, I guess you're just a buncha jokahs!

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Has Now Shipped Over 7.5 Million Units

Mushvision

@jojobar Monster Hunter 1, 3 and Generations all came out in the west. They were all base games. Generations was a bit different though, because it was a “best of”

If you compare Rise’s content to Monster Hunter Tri (3) on the Wii, it’s kinda laughable.

Tri has so little content compared to what followed it, mainly because adding underwater meant that they couldn’t get all the weapon types to work, so they omitted like half of them. 3U fixed this by including all of the weapon types and also adding a plethora of monsters to hunt.

Re: Japan's Switch Online Service Gets The Six-Button Sega Mega Drive Controller

Mushvision

To those concerned about Japan getting any exclusive games. You can make a Japanese eShop account (doesn’t need NSO) and download the Famicom/Super Famicom software, then boot it up with your local account that has an active NSO sub and voila, you get all the Japan-exclusive games, albeit in Japanese, but for some games it really doesn’t matter.

I’m assuming this will be the same for the N64 and MD games.

Re: Capcom Is Gifting Monster Hunter Rise Players A Commemorative Item Pack

Mushvision

@Yarec123 Some items can only be dropped via carves, some captures.

You can check the large monster log in your Hunter’s Notes to get a lowdown of drop rates.

The table can be deceptive at times, because it’ll list gem carves as 3%, but if you highlight that item, you’ll see it’s 1% from body carve, 3% from tail carve.

It’s honestly one of the nicest things this game has added. In previous games, you’d have to rely on external sources for drop rate info.

Re: There's Still One Way To Get Super Mario 3D All-Stars' Digital Version After 31st March

Mushvision

Ah yes, the topic that NintendoLife won't shut up about.

I've been around in the shadows since WiiWare World, but damn, you guys are getting really obnoxious and annoying on this topic.

I could just not say anything, but I want to make it known that we don't need a million articles about something that was CLEARLY communicated to begin with.

It's an anniversary celebration. Suck it up and we can all move on with our lives.

Now can we stop writing a million articles about this? Thanks.

Re: LEGO City: Undercover Games Removed From Wii U And 3DS eShops

Mushvision

@NEStalgia Yeah, probably a poor example there, but Nintendo (AFAIK) published the Wii U and 3DS versions of LCU, back when they were Nintendo exclusives.

I’m assuming that their license to publish the games ran out and didn’t bother to renew them with WB. I could be wrong though.

In fact, I’m not even sure if the Nintendo-related content is present in the Switch version. Can anyone clarify if it is or not? Would be interesting to know.

EDIT: Thanks for the clarification on Forza though. Guess I should actually buy Forza Horizon 4 before it suffers the same fate. I’ve played a bit on Game Pass PC and enjoyed what little bit I’ve played.

Re: LEGO City: Undercover Games Removed From Wii U And 3DS eShops

Mushvision

The fact that it took over 2 weeks to report on this speaks volumes about how much this really means.

Games get delisted all the time, big whoop.

It’s available on all other major platforms because that’s where WB Games published it themselves.

Nintendo’s publishing license for this game probably ran out, so that’s likely the cause of this.

This happens on other platforms too. One of the more recent games I learned about was Forza Horizon 3.

Just 4 years after its launch it reached the “end of life status” and was removed from digital storefronts entirely.

Re: Review: Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack - A Fine Western Debut For This Drumming Duo

Mushvision

The drum doesn’t work in story mode which is really annoying, honestly... can’t be that hard for them to program that it, so I really hope they fix it.. (the red notes work, but the blue notes aren’t registered, which is really odd)

You also can’t use touch controls in story mode, which is the only other way I like to play the game.

Fix it pls Bamco, or I just wasted money on this stuff..

Re: Video: Check Out These Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Ads Now Airing On Japanese TV

Mushvision

@TG16_IS_BAE Yeah, if you read my comment it was about you baselessly calling people “brand loyalists” for something you dislike.

It’s perfectly fine with you talking about something you dislike, I never said it wasn’t. It’s the pushing of your opinion on others which is what people aren’t okay with.

Instead of dictating what people should and shouldn’t buy, just explain why the game isn’t for you, without the need to name call.

I don’t like FIFA, for example, but I’m not telling people they’re brand loyalists or dogs because they enjoy it. I just get on with my own life and find enjoyment in my own likes.

Anyway, I’m done now. You’ll still continue to call people Nintendogs and brand loyalists, because that’s just who you are. So I’ll just take a step back, let you be you and go back to doing my own thing.

Re: Video: Check Out These Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Ads Now Airing On Japanese TV

Mushvision

@TG16_IS_BAE I’m a Zelda fan who likes Zelda games, what more can I say? Don’t throw around the term “brand loyalist” so casually because even I can see when Nintendo does something wrong.

You’re taking a game you have no interest in (which is fine btw) and saying that anyone does like it is WRONG and a “brand loyalist” (which isn’t fine, because you’re forcing your opinion as fact)

Not sure if you’re a troll or you just have a big ego, but people are allowed to have different interests to you, you do know that right?

Yes, I’m buying Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity because it’s Zelda themed, but I also genuinely enjoyed the first Hyrule Warriors.

And no, I didn’t just enjoy Hyrule Warriors because it was Zelda-themed, I enjoyed it for the gameplay as well as the content.

So, I don’t know what Koei Tecmo or Nintendo have done to you personally, but please just let people enjoy things, without questioning why they like them.

I’m not being hostile or defending Nintendo or KT, I’m just merely making you aware that people can like things without being a “brand loyalist”

Re: Video: Check Out These Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Ads Now Airing On Japanese TV

Mushvision

I love how some people with an elitist mindset like to dictate what people can and can’t like.

Guess what? I actually enjoyed Hyrule Warriors, genuine love for the game. Playing as all the different Zelda characters was refreshing and strengthening them/unlocking new abilities also kept me interested.

Musou games aren’t for everyone, but name one game that is for everyone. People need to get off their high horse and let people enjoy what they enjoy.

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

Mushvision

Honestly, the thing that would've pushed me to buy this again on Switch would be online co-op.

Why is it that Super Mario 3D World is getting online, but not Pikmin 3?

Would've loved to play through Pikmin 3 with a friend, but I guess Nintendo doesn't want my money for this one.

I WILL be buying 3D World for Switch though! (Despite already owning the Wii U version)

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Mushvision

Why do they need a digital only console? If you don’t want to use cartridges, you don’t have to use cartridges.

You can basically go all-digital on the current Switch, especially with the rise of high capacity Micro SDs.

The cartridge slot isn’t doing anyone any harm, you’re not forced to use it and it likely wouldn’t be much cheaper if they removed it either.

Pointless.
