Won't you people wake up, already? Cigarette companies, decades ago, had doctors go on TV that were bought off by the tobacco industry. On national television, they were saying that cigarettes are fine. The industry, at large, were publishing misleading commercials so that the public would just buy the product. You don't think that the games industry has the same motive? BUY BUY BUY
I'm quoting a friend from another forum that has a rather sane view on this mess:
"...I'm ok with people being mad about the changes made to this game, but calling it "censorship" when the creators are the ones making the alterations, by their own choice, it is NOT censorship.
Censorship is what happens in North Korea. Censorship is when a regulatory group stipulates that something needs to be bleeped or blurred. Censorship is not altering your own work because you feel it is more marketable."
Google your Anime tiddies, and stop worrying about made-up censorship, folks. This game has been edited, not censored. Probably for good reason, considering how many people are knee-jerking about it.
25% is not enough for me to buy another Switch, assuming that’s the route they take. Apple already mastered incremental updates, and it’s annoying af. Let’s hope Nintendo really pushes it and gives a substantial upgrade.
@Seanmyster6 Invalid argument, due to the fact that it’s the publisher doing the editing of the work, which is a more accurate representation of what’s actually going on. There’s no censorship. It’s a work that’s been edited by an editor. Now go get your tiddies elsewhere and quit being so over dramatic.
@Retron Censorship of meaningful things, like knowledge, sucks. There are enough uncensored anime boobies online that there’s literally no reason to get worked up about “censorship.”
@CharlieGirl This right here. Censored game? No problem. Google has your back. Though, real ones are far better than the 13 year old girls with giant balloon boobs that are the staple of anime (which was a mistake)
Switch: a literal deluge of games, to the point there is so much white noise that finding good games becomes a chore.
There are way too many shovel ware titles, and without a solid refund policy or a user review feature it makes this iteration of the eShop questionable.
@Ewaldus Results may vary. The storytelling and world building blows Skyrim out of the water. On other systems, the visuals are better than Skyrim as well, but they cheaped out due to Switches low specs.
Combat can feel a little floaty, almost like it plays itself. I wasn’t a fan of the combat but it’s a pretty game with good stories.
@Duncanballs 1) OG Switch doesn’t have a d pad. Pass that cost on to the customer. Buy your own!
2) Joycon drift. Self explanatory.
3) shoddy online service.
4) retail boxes that come with digital download codes.
5) digital games that get later “surprise, limited” physical release.
6) low end hardware that struggles with many games. Even something like Bloodstained is gimped by the low end specs of the Switch.
7) No refund policy for the eShop and no user reviews. That’s 100% anti-consumer.
I love my Switch, but after all that Nintendo does from a business standpoint, I’m happy not buying another console from them. If they start to get things together again I’ll buy, but in the foreseeable future it’s not looking very bright for Nintendo customers. Why you people so vehemently defend this company is beyond me.
@kobashi100 Of course they have a say. In fact, they have the final say when it comes to what appears on their platform. You think they just let anything show up on their store without their permission, and more importantly, their cut? Please. Of course they are suggesting retail prices. If you think otherwise, you’re blatantly ignoring something. Not my fault if you choose that!
@Duncanballs Not really. I don't like paying more money for lesser products. The Switch is a great portable, and I love playing mine but when games like the Witcher 3 look so god-awful on it, load so slowly and cost as much as a brand new game, it's just not worth it to me. The whole point of the Witcher 3 isn't just the storytelling; the major selling point is this beautiful world in which to take in the surroundings, and the Switch really drops the ball on that. The combat is very sloppy, but it's more just to get through the game and see what happens. Honestly, they really shouldn't have bothered, unless Nintendo gets their act together and starts making some more powerful hardware, getting half-baked looking games like this just doesn't cut it for me.
@Scollurio You're comparing Links Awakening, a game that looked like black and white legos when it first released, to the new Link's Awakening, that completely blows the gameboy version out of the water because they built it from the ground up for Switch, to The Witcher 3 that has literally been de-mastered to run on sub-par hardware? That's a lot of commas to parse the number of points that just don't go together.
Witcher 3 on Switch is a ripoff. Buy it on PC or some other console and get your money's worth, or don't buy it at all, lest you support scummy business practices.
@Indielink Why are you telling me all that when I think it's too expensive? Yes, they need to get paid to work. That does not guarantee that the general population must buy their thing they made at the crazy price they are asking.
@NotTelevision I can walk into Gamestop right now and buy it for $15. The Switch version is a lesser product for more money. There's no way that they can justify $60 for it.
@Spudtendo Of course, I agree with you. I understand the process at hand; I really don't think anybody thinks ports just "pop up" without work.
Just saying Nintendo is really pushing the market with every new release being $60. $40 would have been much more reasonable for this game. At this point they are just farming people for cash.
How is the general visibility of things, like objects and text? I can imagine playing this in handheld mode can get messy. Is it sharp? The pics look quite blurry, though the text seems to pop.
@Indielink I played Hollow Knight for a few hours, but I found it a little on the slow side. It did some cool things from a design standpoint, but from a playing standpoint it was boring af. I know everyone gushes about it, but I found it to be "eh."
The only “Metroidvania” (ugh) games that I want are Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night. Individual Switch releases (outside of online subscription) would be fantastic.
In terms of shirts, they look cheap and low quality. $100 for a shirt isn’t a lot, considering there are $1000 shirts out there but these don’t look like a $100 shirt.
@PBandSmelly While I love old style graphics, I can understand why people don’t like them as much. I mean, you paid 200-300 bucks for a fairly cutting edge console, they might as well take advantage of the hardware!
@DawgP I couldn’t agree more with what you are saying, and the sad truth is that this is a lot of the backlash that addicts from other substances/behaviors have to face; social stigma. “I’m not an addict, so why can’t you stop drinking like I do?” I wish more people like you were around, that can see that an addict literally CANNOT stop!
It’s interesting that you point out a classic addict behavior: anger at the loss of the substance/behavior. To so many people here, if addiction isn’t a problem to you, then why do you lash out when it’s mentioned? It makes you wonder...

I remember playing the first Disgaea game years ago thinking that it was terrible beyond belief. Can’t believe they keep pumping this hot garbage out.

@MS7000 I was thinking that these things must be a nightmare for collectors to obtain.
