Re: Nintendo Wants To Sell Switch "For As Long As Possible", Has "No Plans" To Cut Pricing

@KitsuneNight I see where you are coming from, I was just getting inundated with fanboys so I misread your reply.

I'd say that SMB1 to SMB3 is pretty significant, considering the hardware they were working with. You're right that they took a few years to squeeze every last pixel out of the legacy systems, but games development was also a new endeavor. These days, people go to college and get educated about how to code and such. Back in those days, formal education on the matter was rare.

And what? N64 and Cube got buried? Cube, definitely! That system was garbage. Metroid Prime was the best thing to come out of it. But, N64 seems to hold a lot of fond memories, so I'll disagree with you on that!

@KitsuneNight I'm not sure when I'll get through to you guys, but I'm not saying power is everything. I'm saying PERFORMANCE is everything. As in, Dark Souls Remastered loads in 2 seconds on my PS4 and 15 seconds on my Switch, when warping between bonfires. That's significant. Nintendo needs to get on that if they want to keep people like me as customers. Sure, Nintendo exclusives are okay, but as I'm looking at my library I actually only have two exclusives (Link's Awakening and the excellent Mario Maker 2) AND OH LOOK LINK'S AWAKENING HAS FRAME RATE ISSUES. Hm.

You guys can apologize for Nintendo all you want, but eventually they are going to need to make something that can actually handle the games they play. Their company has had a long history of bad performance. Examples like Star Fox and Gradius 3 on the SNES, where the game chugs to 10-15 FPS is unacceptable.

My point is that the exclusives are not enough to sway my opinion of the matter, when so few of them actually interest me. It's great that I can play some of these things on a portable, but when the experience is so much better on stronger hardware, strictly from a performance standpoint, why wouldn't Nintendo want to get on that, already?

I don't care if the game is pretty. I care if it's functional. I shouldn't have to pay a guy to mod my Gradius 3 with an SA-1 chip to make it run right, and with their more modern hareware Nintendo needs to step it up.

@frogopus Aren't you arguing about things you actually have no say in? You're obviously not a developer, so you don't know if something is easier or not. That's dependent on the skill of the worker, not your opinion of the matter.

Sorry, if the Switch has a better processor and a better video card, it will run current games better. That's indisputable, so I'm not sure what you're crying about to me. The whole point of the Switch is that it's underpowered and needs a better iteration so that loading times, frame rates, etc, improve without devs having to do extra work to optimize for a minimal piece of hardware. Please stop arguing with me about these things. I'm not interested in your next opinion piece. Send it to Nintendo.

@electrolite77 ....Ok. What’s your point? Any of the other current consoles are more powerful than the Switch, and certain games push those consoles to their limits. That doesn’t change the fact that the Switch is vastly underpowered when compared to them, and that better hardware will lead to better performance. Makes you wonder why some people constantly upgrade their PC components to the latest hardware...hm...

Re: There Are "No Plans" To Bring The Full Pokédex To Pokémon Sword And Shield, And Future Games Will Follow Suit

@justin233 You are NOT the problem. Sometimes you just might need to change things up. It’s ok for hobbies and even careers to fluctuate. I restarted a career from scratch at 38 years old. Scary as hell but it’s paying off, slowly. It was just what I needed.

You know yourself, but I know that you aren’t a “problem,” and I do know that making a fun change or trying something new will patch you up.

@princezorldo But Pokémon has never been about new experiences. Each game follows the same strict regiment, just with different names and faces. I wish they would do something drastic to mix things up. Something other than limit the Pokédex. In fact, going full ham and including every Pokémon would be drastic enough to shake the series up. Having everything in one game? I haven’t played Pokémon since Fire Red and that sounds appealing. After trying other games in the series to only find that they are old gen re-skins is extremely disappointing.

@justin233 I can relate to your position. Modern gaming has been increasingly frustrating for me, as I’ve been gravitating towards more classic games from the 80’s and 90’s. Every time NL posts an article about “this new game inspired by an old game,” it makes me roll my eyes. Plus, the industry is increasingly becoming service based, rather than product based. I don’t pay monthly subs for things I cannot own myself. I need tangible things, and games as a service will never be done right. With PS5 on the horizon, I heavily plan on ignoring next gen news. I’m perfectly content with what I have now.

Do you have any other hobbies that make you happy?

Re: There Are "No Plans" To Bring The Full Pokédex To Pokémon Sword And Shield, And Future Games Will Follow Suit

Mr_Muscle

@the_beaver Exactly this. My last Pokémon game was Fire Red/Leaf Green and I thought it was awesome. Then I kept trying the next few games in the series on emulators but I couldn’t get more than 30 minutes into them because they are exactly the same.

That being said, Game Freak has already showed how lazy they are, so I haven’t supported them since the GBA. I have no interest in SS because I already know what it’s going to be. This series no longer surprises the players. It just keeps churning out the same garbage.

Keep voting with your wallets and show these guys what you actually want.

#Boycott Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Re: Amazon Clamps Down On The Sale Of Used Nintendo Games

Mr_Muscle

@Mountain_Man Please put away your tinfoil hat. There is a literal DELUGE of counterfeit gaming stuffs being sold on eBay and Amazon, so it's great that at least Amazon is FINALLY tightening up on it. If anybody is concerned that sells legit games, they are probably trying to hide something. If they are an honest seller, they should have no fear. If they sell fakes, they should at least put in bold writing "REPRO" or something.

Re: Video: Here's How Bloodstained's Switch Performance Update Compares To The Previous Version

Mr_Muscle

This is the last time I buy a Kickstarter game. Luckily, I didn't fund the Kickstarter itself, but the more games I play from all these developers that break away from their major companies, the less inclined I am to get them in the future.

Look at Death Stranding, as an example. Kojima, on his own, made a mediocre fetch quest game. Great. I'll pass. I wish I passed on Bloodstained, but the 8-bit game was amazing, and the music is even more so and it caused me to bite. Boy am I disappointed!
