@bwellington Honestly, I just played it again today for a bit (original cartridge) and it's really hampered by the terrible controls. Feels so sluggish, even on the maximum sensitivity. If they do a port, which would be amazing, I hope they update the controls to feel better! My take: this is an awesome game in need of a few updates.
@Alucard83 Oh, I voted all right! But, the GameCube didn’t really grab me for other games. I loved Metroid Prime but i found it stale half-way, and Mario sunshine felt the same. Other than those, I had Soul Calibur 2 but the GameCube wasn’t really my jam, otherwise.
@NotTelevision Basically, there is one game on the cartridge, and the other two games must be downloaded separately. Companies do this to cut costs and skimp out on using a smaller capacity cartridge. Pass the cost down to the customer.
@koekiemonster Exactly. And to add to what you said, it hurts the resale of the game later. What if the download code is used? Whoops, can’t sell it as a trilogy anymore. Seriously, to heck with these companies that skimp on this stuff.
Why is the Switch the console with all these annoying exceptions and disappointments? Controller stick drift, partial physical releases, digital games that get super limited edition physical releases months later, controllers that are ergonomic enough for a chimpanzee, no D-Pad, no reviews or refund policy on the online store, abysmal online service...
I mean, they got some things right, such as region free, good screen, portable, good game selection, etc. I just wish they cleaned it up and made it really stellar. Something special. It’s a great system, but it feels like Nintendo is still falling behind on its overall quality that we have come to know over the past two decades or so.
@SBandy I remember when everybody lost their minds about the horse armor and flamed it for being cosmetic only and a waste of money. Now, people only condone DLC if it’s for cosmetic items, at least in multiplayer games. Funny turn of events.
@Crono1973 Exactly this. I stopped using apples App Store because they keep pushing iOS updates that break my older games. Now I don’t have the games, they were never updated and I wasted money. Thank god for used game shops, because I have a very small collection of legacy games and systems. Games as a service, all digital, etc can go screw itself.
The whole iPhone App Store is a fly by night shop. I’ve stopped using it, because they constantly update iPhones and unless a developer updates the app to be compatible, then the money you spent is worthless. There’s no ownership of digital goods on the App Store. Just a rental fee until it becomes incompatible. I have games that are literally unplayable on my phone right now.
That being said, micro transactions add to the mess of spending money to earn nothing. I hate both of them, so I stopped spending money on apps from Apple.
@AnnoyingFrenzy There's literally no problem, perhaps in your mind there is. Replying to comments is not a problem. Please have a nice day and stop harassing me.
@AnnoyingFrenzy No. If someone replies to me, especially if they are saying something constructive, I will give them the common decency of a reply. Like I said, handle yourself, instead of trying to control others. Thank you.
@Nomad Hi Nomad, it's like that on Kotaku, as well. There's a vast majority, and anybody that speaks against it gets 30 people jumping down their throats for disagreeing.
The problem is that most users will read something that gives them some form of cognitive dissonance, and then make that user their enemy. It's a terrible approach. Not sure why everyone wants to make war against something different than their usual. It's not like I'm physically doing anything to prevent anyone from enjoying Astral Chain, if that's what they intend to do!
@AnnoyingFrenzy I'm good, thanks. Nobody said you had to read or respond to what I am writing to other users on this website. Like I said earlier, I enjoy conversations. If you want to talk about something useful, feel free. If you want to just keep beating a dead horse, I guess you can also feel free.
@maruse See, I would argue that it's really strange that the game is only getting positive reviews. It's like people aren't willing to speak up against Astral Chain, and if you watch gameplay footage it's clear that the game is not a stellar, perfect, 10/10 game by any stretch of the imagination. Solid? Sure, I'll take that. Something about it is fishy, across the board. Even GameXplain, when talking critically about the game, felt as if he was being extremely careful in how he stated his faults that he found in-game. It's very odd.
@graysoncharles I already did that. People keep talking to me about different things. You're the one posting me about something hours ago. I've moved on, entirely. Thank you.
@nimnio Who said I was worried that I'm getting flak? Earlier I posted to another user that I would question myself if I was surrounded by people only saying, "yes" to everything I said. It's good to share differing opinions. Keeps the mind challenged.
I was apologizing to the party in question. I don't have to answer that to you, as they seemed to have moved on since I apologized. Really it's their business. Thanks for commenting, either way.
@nimnio That's the fault of text-only communication. No facial expressions, no body language. On top of that, written text gives the reader a chance to insert their feelings into what they are reading, which is not a good assumption to make. Many people understood that I'm sincere, and it's very hard to communicate that across a text. Whether or not you believe me doesn't matter to me. If you're irritated at dissenting opinions, that's on you. I'm not choosing that part of your destiny. Keep the words calm in your head, as that's how I am typing them. Sorry, but that's all I've got. If we were face to face it would be easier to communicate.
@electrolite77 Sorry, it's been a few hours. What were you responding to? Sorry, this comment thread doesn't really have good history tracking, so I'm not sure what you're referencing at this time.
@HappyMaskedGuy I appreciate the sentiment, though I'm mentally sound (most of the time! LOL)
It definitely caught me off guard with the overwhelmingly negative response. Questioning integrity of any kind of news or journal entry has been around since before I was even born. It comes with the job, I suppose. Heck, I get questioned in my profession regularly, though I'm lucky enough that I can immediately prove that what I teach serves a specific function and actually works, which is harder to do on a website based around anonymity.
I actually welcome disagreement, as I would question myself if all I did was surround myself with people that nodded "yes" to everything I said.

@JR150 LOL Good one!
Re: Rumour: The Next DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Might Be Representing SNK
@Silly_G I mean, it is listed as a rumor, so at least give them that.
Re: Rumour: The Next DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Might Be Representing SNK
@JR150 I don’t think the Nintendo Switch has enough computational power for those boob physics though!
Re: Rumour: The Next DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Might Be Representing SNK
If it’s Terry Bogard, I will literally buy Smash just for that. And no, I’ve never played any smash games!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #6 - Mega Man 3
I vote for the original Mega Man 1 cover, for the US.

@Silly_G Damn!! That’s terrible.

Oh joy! Please no “accidental” DRM, this time!
Re: The Physical Version Of Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Switch Will Require A Sizable Download
@Mamabear Yes. Games like this don’t resell for a lot because the download code is for one console only. It’s very anti-consumer.
Re: The Physical Version Of Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Switch Will Require A Sizable Download
@Kalmaro Space isn’t the issue. It’s that when people are buying a physical release, it’s bonkers to not include the whole game in the cart.

More concept art articles, please. This was fun and informative, and this guy is clearly talented at what he does. Good stuff!
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th August (North America)
@RupeeClock Yep, they've gone downhill over the years, as many of these floundering companies try to find ways to survive.

What is with the janky animations? Looks like it was developed for the iPhone.
Re: Review: Astral Chain - Platinum's Best Game Ever? You'd Better Believe It
@CheepCheepAngler Glad to hear it! I'm being cautiously optimistic. I will try it at some point!
Re: Talking Point: With Overwatch Apparently Switch-Bound, The Future's Bright For Blizzard And Nintendo
@dleec8 This. Also, doesn't Switch NOT have any voice chat? That would pretty much eliminate the problem!
Re: Review: Astral Chain - Platinum's Best Game Ever? You'd Better Believe It
@cryptologous That's a pretty inaccurate review; I'll take it! LOL
Re: Talking Point: With Overwatch Apparently Switch-Bound, The Future's Bright For Blizzard And Nintendo
It would be even better if it was actually confirmed.

“World exclusive.”
Heh, sorry Mars. Earth only.
