I hope it is true. The Switch has been my favorite console since the DS. I'm up for more Switch not less.

With Sony/MS's supply constraints they'd be fools to do anything besides turn the knife.

Sell Switch's like hotcakes while Sony figures out how to get boxes in hands > do that for three years > as the PS gains some traction release something else putting them on their heels again.

The other two consoles this generation have been unmitigated disasters. Capitalize on that and destroy them. Business.

I've been disappointed with Square's offerings this past year so I'll wait to see what people think and even then wait for a huge discount on this one.

It is an "we need advertising" ploy. The only time you will see a site deviate is when everyone decides to bag on a game at once - so they will write articles trashing this or that game or developer. Clickybait tactics there.

Ironic they did this once for Clover Studios - which became platinum later. Godhand.The game was absolutely trashed in print review after review. Then gamers decided they liked it. Then it became a cult classic. Then reviewers talk about the game as if they liked it all along. For a more recent, non-Platinum example see: Deadly Premonition.

@Lunatic002 I am interested in anything Platinum creates. Imo they are the most talented developers around outside of Nintendo. Oft times, more talented than Nintendo. I share their enthusiasm for offbeat titles.

@Alpha008 Sword/Shield made making competitive Mons so much easier. Even if you don't fight them competitively it is fun to max out a Mon's EVs through breeding. Adds another layer and you can take your perfect poke from game to game to game.

The majority of Pokecomplainers started playing at a very young age. Now they are older and more miserable. They wear rose colored glasses seeing their beloved childhood memories so they generally think everything new is bad for some reason.

Advice column: avoid taking these people seriously. As life has done - ignore them.

Pokemon is about cute monster slaves that fight for our pleasure. Enjoy them.

@sisodinr imo if Arceus was a bust, which is clearly wasn't, they might have gone back to the drawing board. But instead everyone is falling over themselves to praise it.

It's a hit and they want to capitalize on it. I have two little kids and Arceus resonated with them much more than Sw/Sh. The gameplay will satisfy the olds and bring in a new generation of players. Then they will release an OG rpg on top of it. $$$ rains

@Clyde_Radcliffe Nothing. But this is an independent company that decided they didn't want to run in your face ads right now. There is nothing wrong with that either.

Of course I am. I love the series, Arceus is a GOTY contender, the franchise is on an absolute high right now.

Imho, only a miserable fool gets upset at any of this news.

Some people are acting like Gamefreak started development on this game when Arceus shipped. Like they are a 20 man indie team instead of a multi-multi billion dollar behemoth that understands project management.

Sword/Shield was a great game a good many people got 200 hours out of. shrug

@Stormzstriker It doesn't even scratch the surface of Disney. It is ridiculous to think Pokemon is somehow made more money than Mickey and pals over the course of 98 years. With Disney's 300B USD market cap, parks, merc, films, streaming service etc. I mean...Mickey Mouse is the most known figure on the planet. You can ask a 3 year old in the Sub-Saharan bush who Mickey is and they can tell you.

Pika and pals are amazing money generators...just not on the same scale.

But gross is dumb anyway. Pokemon's relatievly unsuccessful movies are at 2B gross while Disney's - the most popular animated features by many country miles - is rather silly to compare.

Imagine comparing Snow White - which had lines around the theater for 2 years during Hollywood's golden age to Detective Pickachu with a straight face.

@Silly_G it was. 2021 ,because of lockdowns, was development hell. That is why we got so many ports of old games. Really bad year for gaming but one easily forgotten going forward.

Arceus and I just got my very first 3DS so I'll be toying with it - trying to get all the things before the store goes dark. I got carts for Luigi's Mansion and Hannah Montana for the little ones. 4 bucks for Hannah why not right? (I secretly loved the show when it was live along with That's So Raven).

There is literally no way possible pokemon has grossed more than Mickey Mouse since 1928.

It sounds like an interesting device one the console to tv dock arrives. I can't tell anyone, including myself, how many low res games I purchased in the past on Steam which I like to play on the go.

It would probably be worth it not buying one game going forward just to play the older ones I never really dove into. Oddly though - only about 15 games or so out of the 150 I have purchased were steam deck verified thusly. Not great.

Arceus, Earthbound and Picross mostly. I also started plying that Tatio drum game I bought maybe half a year ago? It's fun, the music is nice and it is more challenging than I thought originally. Too hard for little kids though which I didn't expect.

We enjoyed watching the first one on video - but this being big enough for a super bowl ad shows just how desperate hollywood is atm.

@CharlieGirl In my state you can serve 20 years for stealing a car worth over $20,000 - inconveniencing one life maybe for a short while. This guy stole $65M, destroyed hard work while enriching himself enough to pay $15M in fines and got 3 years.

@sanderev which as a consumer leads me to think it's junk. It may not even be junk - but that is the perception. If you can never find one thing but can always find the lesser thing - I don't generally want the lesser thing.

The Sony/MS sales cycle has been an absolute disaster ov er the past year+. You see it on companies who normally didn't develop for the switch now doing so and the no trickle of games on the more powerful ones.

@sanderev it is a lucky thing they are where they are. Sony/MS get to sweat bullets about getting product out - and out of the hands of scalpers - while Tendy just sells stuff and makes plans for the next one - with the luxury of time on their side.

I've always been up for longer, better console cycles.

How much fun is it wanting a PS5; Series X and not being able to get one unless you pay 2x? No fun at all. By the time you get one easily the console will be halfway done. Lame.

@PharoneTheGnome having worked with a good many top tier programmers over the years - Gaming is the only industry I can think of where programmers are not thought of as absolutely critical pieces of the company and treated with dignity and respect.

When I was in enterprise software they were the ones that called the shots - and if anyone thought about abusing them they would walk in a second and go work for anyone they wanted to.

It would be really easy to walk out of an office to never return if I 1) ever cried at the office or 2) saw anyone crying because of something an upper did. It would be god-tier easy if my job was to work on something as ***** as Worms.

Protip: everyone is hiring right now. You don't have to be abused if you have even a modicum of talent. Leave.

I'm old enough to remember that this time a year was reserved for smaller under-the-radar indie announcements leading into summer. All of the banger news was saved for the Fall season.

For a ho-hum month like February this seemed huge. It told me the rest of the year will be even hugerier.
