"check out the new stuff early in the Snapshots, only available on Bedrock and Java Beta versions."
I really enjoy this snippet. Snapshot refers to Java ONLY, and beta refers to Bedrock ONLY. If the words were swapped around a bit it would make sense though.
It was pretty good. After all we knew nothing going in to 2021, but now we do! It showed off some stuff for Q1/Q2 and a few for next year. It could have been better, but now I have more to look forward to than just BOTW2. EDIT: I just remembered the Age Of Calamity DLC! I loved that game, much more than the first one, and I can't wait for the new content!
I'd say this was a pretty good direct, we did get Splatoon 3 after all! Triangle Strategy looks great too, and it's nice to see Mario Golf for it's fans. The ports are looking pretty great too, even if they're $60. Unfortunately this isn't as hype-filled as, say the direct that showcased SMM2 and Link's Awakening, but it did what it needed to. That being to give us something to look forward to, and oh boy I am!
It looks more single player focused, and I've been wanting an open-world lore-filled Splatoon game for a long while! It won't be everything I've hoped for, but even the multiplayer looks great! Probably gonna get it day 1!
I remember this, and then I set it to always show percentage, thanks for the reminder I guess? Also seeing percentage is only really useful in handheld mode, so I believe tapping the battery is easier anyways, huh.
Strange they went 3d for a card game, seems like if they didn't the framerate would've been fine, and they could've spent more time on content than, y'know trying to get smooth 3d animations down. But I didn't read the article, so who knows.
@Lord Firstly NintendoLife's scoring policy states: 10 - Outstanding Of course no game is ever truly perfect, but a score of ten indicates that it is an outstanding example in the current climate of games. We don't dish this score out lightly, this is a genre defining game that we absolutely feel you should own.
Secondly, yeah, I don't think that with bad online and no voice chat that it should be a 10/10. Especially with the misleading commercials.
Great review! I've known this is a great game for a while, but haven't gotten it as I have yet to see if I enjoy the genre. If I like Enter the Gungeon I'll probably get this too.
@lighteningbolt79 Uh, I have played it lol. I'm not saying that's what I would give considering it's been a few years, just that the cons seemed pretty big for a 10/10. Base game only, on couch co-op though, I could see a 10/10.
I cannot see this game as higher than a 7, in fact normally I'd give it a six! however because Gamefreak lied about certain things in the game, well I have to give it a 1. (This is coming from a Pokemon fan since birth)
So a port and some games I don't care about, oh and monster hunter, I might get that. At any rate it sounds like I'm gonna play LOTS of terraria over the next few months. I hope BOTW 2 comes out this year at least.
(Just gonna add this here, I'm not trying to be rude, so please don't take it that way. I'm just frustrated with what was once my favorite series of all time.)
@redpanda0310 "I don't get people's deal w/ SwSh" Neither did I... at first. But seeing as I have 30 hours in SWSH and over a hundred in Sun, there's a problem, for me at least.
First and foremost SWSH comes from the largest grossing media franchise in the world. This is easy for anyone to understand. The visuals are pretty bland, which is disappointing coming after Lets Go.
They cut Pokemon (which I'm fine with, I knew it would happen eventually) only to sell them back to us later. They said that they would not appear by way of paid dlc, which is just a straight up lie. At this point I didn't even care to transfer the rest of my Pokemon, let alone give Gamefreak more money.
Also the dlc looks great! (apart from the lag and everything) But if I bought it that would mean I spent over 90$ on a game that I felt I wasted my money on.
My problem is more so with gamefreak than the game to be honest. Case in point: Little Town Hero. Yeah it got terrible reviews. It was a bad game, not a pokemon game. As such people looked at it for what it is, bad. (And I'm not even gonna talk about the animations, or the lack there of I guess)
But before I end my comment I just wanna provide my largest argument, a different game. Imagine a battle: Indie vs AAA, a rather small amount of money vs largest grossing media franchise IN THE WORLD. So uh, one of my favorite games of all time is Nexomon: Extinction. Please spend ten minutes researching it, you may find a new favorite like I did.
(something else I'd like to mention is that while I don't the path Paper Mario took, they're still good games.)
In short I'm disappointed with the game that I trusted, (Enough to preorder digitally) and that while I also enjoyed it for ~20 hours I was left upset and dissatisfied at the end of my time with it. It came out on the same platform as BOTW and Mario Odyssey. I own (or have owned) 7 other mainline games, all better than the newest on switch.
Also sorry about the rant, I skipped over lots of things to not waste too much of your time, but it was still really long, SORRY! And I would recommend Nexomon: Extinction to ANYONE who finds the pokemon concept interesting.
The worst I really have to deal with is eyestrain, but even then I only get it when I stay up late. (which isn't very often) That and d pad placement can make my hands cramp sometimes. And I also need to save up for an ergonomic chair too.
One way I do my best to prevent other issues is to just walk around a bit. If I'm playing Hyrule Warriors every few rounds I'll go let my dog out, go to the bathroom, fill up my water ect. It's not the best way of preventing things, but its easy and only takes ~10 minutes per brake.
Also now I'm gonna look up hand stretches, after I take a brake that is.
Seeing as I don't care for animal crossing or new paper mario, age of calamity was the only first party game I got. I spent another 400 hours in minecraft, replayed some old games, and bought some fantastic indie games. Here's to hoping next year's better!
This was a pretty good minecraft clone. The survival was much harder than minecraft's and it had a really fun pvp mode. I'll double dip either on switch or steam for another ~25 hours. At the price however I'd recommend waiting for it to go on sale for 10$ (usd) Also side note the creative mode sucks.
@Zuljaras Thats what I like to do with mine as well, however unless keeping a game or product sealed is interfering with someone else's enjoyment of it I find nothing wrong with just keeping your personal copy that way.
@LatsaSpege also I agree with this "I am so annoyed that people HATE The game just because "It does not have good animations" Or "The Graphics are only 720P" because please remember that this is a Nintendo system and nobody is buying Nintendo games for good graphics." The only problems I have with swsh regarding this is that the tile quality is really good in some areas and really bad in others. Also the framerate in the wild area is all over the place.
@LatsaSpege I can see your point of view however I spent 60$ on a game which was worse than the ones on 3ds. I saw the controversies and yet still believed I was getting a good product, which wasn't the case. I also don't hate Pokémon considering I loved Lets go Eevee. (even buying the Pokeball plus) Pokémon Sun was one of my first Pokémon games and I really enjoyed it but releasing a worse looking and running game on the switch, for 20 dollars more? If you liked it good for you, but for me I wasted money. I also originally didn't mind the dex cut, but then the dlc was shown off. The problem I have isn't with the graphics. It's that this is worse than a 3ds game! The animations (or lack there of) are both lazy and funny. The game is far too easy, I know it's always been this way but it shouldn't be hard to add difficulties! One of Pokémon's lead designers' (I don't remember who) said he wanted it to be accessible to everyone. Instead for anyone who has played a Pokémon game before it is meaningless grinding. The story never changes, which doesn't help from the uninspired gameplay, and the overall experience ends up bland. There are many better designed games than this. If the next Pokémon game looks good I'll wait for reviews, and if they hold up, I'll buy it second hand. (I neither trust GameFreak nor want to give them money)
So in short I don't hate GameFreak or the Pokémon company but I regret wasting both my time and money on shield.
(also sorry for making you read my rant but you didn't understand where I'm coming from)

I'd like a new "Maker" game, maybe zelda or pokemon?

Re: New Advert For Pokémon Snap To Be Shown On Japanese TV
@redpanda0310 Well I think that they are the same (or slightly altered) models, but the art style makes it look a whole lot better than SWSH.
Oh and I'll hate on SWSH at most opportunities, that too.
Lets Go was fine though.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st January (North America)
I got the og Hyrule Warriors. It seems much more tactics based than combat based, which is why some people prefer it to Calamity.

@redpanda0310 Is there room for another on the hate wagon? I'll gladly hop on!
However I do see what he means, the models LOOK the same, however given the art style and the animations its an humongous improvement.
