Link's Awakening remade in Minecraft

It seems so obvious: retro, pixel grid games work well with Minecraft's chunky blocks. That's exactly what builder team pickledscones and thelasteddieonearth (also known by their collective name, "Operation Hyrule") have done with their incredible recreation of Koholint Island from Link's Awakening, complete with big egg and all, and it looks amazing.

But this isn't just any Minecraft map. This one is playable. It has all the characters, bosses, and enemies of Link's Awakening, as well as custom textures that recreate the looks of the original. While the map isn't yet finished - they still have to add in the storyline - the final version will be available free of charge when it's ready.

Pickledscones has also been working on a scale reproduction of Hyrule with their co-builder CR00K1E, which you can keep up with on Reddit. So far, they've built the Temple of Time, Hyrule Castle, the graveyard, Death Mountain, Kakariko Village, and Castle Town.

You can visit the download page for Link's Awakening: Minecraft Version here, but be warned that it does require the Optifine mod to work.
