Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Sold 1.2 Million Copies In Japan During Launch Week

@MrBlacky of course I’m bad. I already said I’m new to it. I bought it assuming there would be some sort of tutorial introduction for noobs. We’re not all great at games when we start. Nintendo made this game for veterans of the series. The only thing I find is the training mode but it doesn’t tell you what anything is. It’s just a place to press buttons without getting attacked. I can’t even unlock any new characters at this point. It’s incredibly frustrating and boring for me now, so based on my experience with the game my opinion of it is not great. I can only judge it based on my experience with it. I’m glad others are having fun with it but I’ll bet it’s not their first time and that might be part of why it’s fun for them. Because they know what they’re doing!

@Mrtoad ya I’ve read so much stuff I think my brain is melting. All this talk about side tilt and up smash, etc. WTH IS THAT? There’s no explanation of terminology. I go into the practice mode and mess around and I think ok I’ve got this, this is good, ok so this does that and when I do this and this then this will happen. Then I go into an actual fight and BOOM! DEAD! I give up. Thanks though.

Game is garbage. It’s meant for people who have been playing for years. Newcomers like me get nothing in terms of a tutorial. I’ve tried over and over and it all just comes down to pressing buttons for nothing. I hate this game. There is no help online unless you’re already at an expert level. I don’t understand the months of hype. Why are people so in love with this game? It’s a miserable experience.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 8th)

I was planning to play Smash all weekend but it’s boring. I’ve never played it before so I just feel like I’m smashing buttons. There are no tutorials in the game and I have no idea what I’m doing. Nintendo designed this game with the assumption that everyone has been playing it since the 90s so there’s no point in teaching the basics. All the tutorials online are meant for people who already know how to play but want to learn how to be a world champion tourney player. I talk to people online about it and their typical response is “get good” but how can I do that when I dont even know the basics. I hate this game and wish I’d kept my money. I bought into the hype and I even bought the stupid amiibo. I was so excited. Oh well, guess I’m an idiot!
