The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was - and still is - a superb open world experience. If you take a moment to reflect on Link's adventure, two moments from the game that might standout include finding the seed-sharing Korok and fighting the ancient but lethal Guardians.
If you've ever wanted to see an animation recreating these special moments when you found a Korok or fought a Guardian, this is probably the one. This fan animation uploaded to YouTube lasts for nearly two minutes and does a beautiful job capturing these memorable moments within Breath of the Wild. The animators behind it include Youyang Kong and Qianya Yin with music by Sihan Yuan and sound by Doudou. Take a look below:
When we see quality animations such as the one above, it leaves us wondering if an official Legend of Zelda animation or live series will ever be released in the modern era. In 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported a live-action Zelda Netflix series was in the works and then a different rumour last October suggested a Zelda series would be produced by Adi Shankar. Instead, it turned out to be an announcement for the Devil May Cry animation.
Tell us if you enjoyed this animation in the comments below.

That was wonderfully done!... I would sooo watch a Zelda anime... (a Fire Emblem one preferably though 🙃)
Zelda has real potential to be made into a fantastic series, if Nintendo ever allowed it. And if it were to be done, it should look like this. Bravo to the creators of this short, it looks absolutely stunning.
people: it's not possible to make a good Zelda series!
me: [points at this]
Simply stunnig! A BOTW anime would be amazing if it were done right.
I saw this a couple weeks ago on Facebook and thought it was brilliant.
(It would have been funny if...) The little guy would have been so scared that he made Link some Korok seeds... then Link could eventually be able to carry some more shields or weapons.
Really well done plus the music was fantastic.
Congrats to those who made it.
I don’t care what it takes, just make this happen.
Very nice. Little doubt that a bunch of great action scenes could come from a LoZ BOTW anime. But I have no interest in watching a show with a main character who never speaks. So clips like this are plenty for me.
Awww, very cute.
This video did the impossible: actually make me feel bad for dropping rocks on Koroks' heads every single time I find them.
his e end was awful looking as if it wasn't there and right nostril was smeared.
I am SO happy you guys featured their Zelda animation! I watched it a few days ago and it had only a few thousand views then. Now it has almost 300 thousand though and I’m escastic to see them being recognized for their great quality and work! I would highly recommend checking out the rest of their stuff if any of you get the chance!
Lol that's better than any non-game thing Nintendo have ever made themselves.
The Korok could have given him a turd as a thank you, but I guess that wasn’t the tone they were going for.
Beautiful. It was giving me those 80s vibes
Okay, I saved you, now tell me where your friends are hiding. All 899 of them!
A Zelda series / movie about Zelda / Shiek or Impa would be something. Link doesn't have to be part of the series / movie (he could be used only for the games because he represents the player).
PS: Ironically this is where the title "The Legend of Zelda" really helps.
This is awesome. I was kinda hoping the end of level guardian would show up and tell him what time it is though JK.
Wow, that video brought me right back to Hyrule, great artwork!
Seeing as I hate Breath of the Wild, I would probably hate this as well.
@IBeAGamer hate seems strong lol
That was gorgeous, very well done
Nintendo should hire the creator and make a mini series
Am I the only one that thinks this is getting a bit too much praise?
Yeah, the backgrounds and guardians and their lasers look nice, but the actual animation is pretty laggy/rigid. Whenever Link moves it feels like someone took out some frames inbetween.
Plus Links eyes look... odd. It's hard to describe, but it just feels like the artist couldn't get Link's face right.
Don't get me wrong, this is pretty good considering that so few people were working on it. But I've seen comments acting like this is an example of how a good BotW anime should be or that Nintendo should hire these artists. Really? You think we can't do better than this?
Shame that Revali didn't show up for his move but Mipha was a nice touch. She said 'I will protect you'.
"Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess."
Inaccurate. You can't shield bash in mid-air. Complete joke.
@DDFawfulGuy No, you’re not the only one. It was very well done, but it was also very rough around the edges. It could’ve been a lot better, but it’s great nonetheless.
Wow awesome!
I want more of this!
@CurryPowderKeg79 Pretty sure you don't need permission to make a fan Animation of any of their series.
The action sequences and choreography in general give me serious Samurai Jack vibes. This is great!
Excellent work! These guys would be great with an actual budget and bigger crew!
Please; don't let Hollywood make a Zelda movie, although I highly want to see a Zelda movie.
@NintyNate nope, I hate the game.
@Heavyarms55 "Well excuse me, princess"
@IBeAGamer reason?
@NintyNate it's not a fun game to me.
This...wasn't that great, sorry. Pretty janky in parts, and just look at the header image of the article - where the detail on his tunic just disappears and he's got his hand the wrong way up to fire the arrow. I'd dearly love a Zelda animated series and these folks have definitely got some talent but it's not quite 'there' yet.
@IBeAGamer fair enough dude
Ooooohhhh...
Ahhhhh........
I like what I see here...
Impressive. I'll take more, please.
Its a lovely video.
Love all though could of use the master sword and swing there eyes out lol sorry
