Nintendo music is what made me start playing the piano.

We had an old electric organ at home, and one day I decided to learn the Super Mario Bros. overworld theme for fun. I knew nothing about music theory or anything like that, and had almost never even touched the organ, but after looking up a tutorial on Youtube and learning just the melody (which I played very clumsily), I was hooked. Next in line was the Legend of Zelda's main theme, for which I again only learned the simple melody. It felt so magical being able to play the tunes that I held so close to my heart, and I spent the rest of the evening practicing and trying to play even more songs. A few days later I finally learned the first song that I could play with both hands, which was Song of Storms, and at that point a spark had been lit inside me.

Now, five years later, I continue to play many different video game soundtracks in addition to other genres, and I am truly grateful to Nintendo (especially Koji Kondo) for letting me discover the joy of playing the piano.
