What is wrong with @Yorumi watching the video and arriving at a different conclusion? You say "you took someone else's case and came to a conclusion that they didn't". So what?
If I make a video jumping on a trampoline and intentionally hitting my head on the ceiling and my conclusion is "This is fun!", someone is allowed to watch that video and come to a different conclusion than I have that hitting your head against the ceiling would surely not be fun.
EDIT: And he's right, from the beginning, this game, along with Project Guard and Project Robot, were heavily promoted as games that "made proper use of the gamepad". It was done for the wrong reasons, at a time when Nintendo was realizing this console's gimmick didn't accomplish anything so they attempted to make things that showed it's benefits and awkwardly shoved in the best way they could accomplish that into this game. The same thing has happened with motion control in games on the Wii, so there is very much precedent for @Yorumi 's concerns and opinions.
Sorry that it's coming off as condescending. I just can't get over it. Yuck.
To me it's like a grown man playing with dolls or something. Totally creeps me out and I honestly instantly think less of a person.
I'm obviously not alone, either, as consumers seem to be running for the hills away from Nintendo! Visit the forums of any site that isn't Nintendo-centric like this one. I'm not alone. I probably need to leave this website Me being with Nintendo is like being with an ex that was at one time so good that you simply forgive every mistake she makes for 10 years hoping she goes back to who you remember! But, she's not going back!
Are you suggesting there's no difference between Kirby's Dream Course and Miitomo? Are you relating them because they're both cartoony and OK for kids, because that's not the issue I have with Miitomo.
Kirby's Dream Course is a game. It's fun and you play it to challenge yourself. Who cares if it's colorful?
Miitomo is a social app, just like FB, Twitter, and a bunch of others. It's purpose is to connect with other people by using silly cartoon representations of yourself. It's not gameplay. It's just looking for facts about people and watching a cartoon dance to them. It's weird for a grown man to enjoy that.
@Pod Sure, Kirby's dream course is a fun game with great gameplay that one can play to find enjoyment. It's not personally one of my favorite franchises, but I find nothing wrong with it. It's a game, not a social app to connect with other people.
It's odd that this is what a grown man would be attracted to, though. You can't see that? You can't see why it's weird for a grown man to want to spend time in a community centered on a goofy dancing mii, talking about how cute things are in a community that is probably 80-90 percent children.
What do they enjoy about this??? I'm really the only person on this website that sees this kind of stuff??
Cracking up picturing this scenario: A 37 year old iron worker exits work. His entire body sore from his long day at work, but hey, atleast he is supporting his family. Time for leisure. What to do? Have a drink? Nah. Load up Miitomo!! "Oh my goodness, I didn't know REGINALD like SUSHI!! I DO, TOO!!" furious giggles as Miitomo does a hula hoop Eck, I'm sorry, this whole direction this company is taking makes me sick sometimes!
If you're an adult and spend any amount of time on this, something is seriously wrong. Seeing a character that looks like you should have an EXTREMELY short novelty period in a game, where you can do funny things like put people you don't like into cars and crash into them, or funny things like that. In an app like this? It's just plain odd. After the very first time, picturing a grown man using an app because he enjoys things like giggling at a character that looks like him shimmying and dancing and smiling after answering a question about how it likes it's toast is just creepy and weird. You're part of the problem that has been dragging Nintendo's image and ability to be taken seriously as a company down. I'm sorry, it's just how I feel.
It's times like this that i think maybe I have outgrown Nintendo. Watching grown men play with this childish, goofy giggle fest app and say things like "it's super cute". Is this the twilight zone?
@Maxz Sorry, it just struck a nerve with me because I tend to be a "say what's on my mind" type of guy (as long as it's not INTENTIONALLY offensive, for example, I would never go up to an overweight person and say "Hey fat boy!" and justify it as "I just say what's on my mind, oh well!"). But, I feel that over the last 20 years, something has happened to people where they are almost LOOKING to be offended by something. That can lead to just as many problems as being offensive.
There is someone I know on social media, who has a missing relative. And this is the exchange I witnessed:
"I can't stand the way this person talks about my missing relative. I pray nothing ever happens to his son or someone he loves"
This is obviously the person saying, you don't handle this sensitive issue properly and I hope you wouldn't do that if it happened to someone you love.
The person (who is offended by EVERYTHING) went on a tirade about how their son had just been threatened. I just honestly can't stand people who stand around looking to pick everything apart and find a way to find it offensive.
Came into this article to lament this generations lack of big exciting titles and half expecting "teddy" to be a teddy bear. Left being really impressed with how the game looked.
@Maxz i didnt even read the comment but put it back up. You have the right to make a statement or joke as long as its not something extreme like a racial slur. Everybody is so "offended" nowadays. "Im offended! That offended me!" maybe its cuz im from Boston where we are overly loud and crass anyways, but this politically correct generation is so infuriating. Toughen up, people.
In the mid 90s i was the epitome of a SNES kid, laughing at my friend whos family could only afford gameboy. Everything he had was just a lamer version of what i had, i thought. He tells me theres a Zelda game for gameboy and i assume its some Stupid little spinoff title. 8 hours later were both huddled around that tiny screen, completely engrossed in the love story between link and marin, and the secrets of the island, planning on gettting our parents to buy us a super gameboy the next day!

oh, im not saying he's wrong. Just stressing how little the distinction means to me. You're re-doing and old experience with new paint. As far as I'm concerned, the only distinction I'm deciding between is "meh" and "EH.."
"Wow I want to replay that because it's clearer" meh "Wow I want to replay that because it's clearer and the wall texture is less muddy" EH...
As for Suikoden, what a great, great, gr eat series. My #1 game of all time is a 5 way tie- OoT, LttP, FF6, FF7, and Sui2. Havent played 4. As bad as they say?
Fair enough. And there are a few games that would be pretty cool to me if they were redone, to be fair. I just wonder if there's an actual community to me eating up remake/remaster after remake/remaster. I'd have to literally consider these guys the Lex Luther to my Superman, the Venom to my Spiderman... In other words, completely against me, my villain, or anti-hero as it were, and everything I want to see in my favorite hobby! I know people are going to say "It's not Nintendo making these, it's a 3rd party company that would never be making a new Zelda anyways, etc." but my take on it is that if they're trusted to "re do" these games, then there's got to be SOMETHING they're capable/competent enough to do on a new game, be it Zelda or another property. Therefore, everyone of these remakes/remasters/repeats/re-do's ads months, if not years, to the release dates of the new experiences I so cherish!
So stop with the remakes and put ALL of that effort into the new games! (UNLESS someone is out there considering remaking Suikoden 1 thru 3. MAN that would rock. MAN I totally just contradicted myself and ruined any point I had. Eh, oh well.
@boyika
To be fair, if I had the option to play a game for the first time and I could choose between the 12 year old rough looking version and the 6 month old prettier one, I'd take the nicer one. However, if these remakes and remasters delay my new, cherished experiences by even a few weeks, then my vote would be: "Get rid of em, we already got em!!!!!"
@Spoony_Tech While you didn't directly go out and say bad things about companies not supporting Wii U, your comment references the scenario so it felt like a good time to say this:
I've been a Nintendo fan since 1987 (I was 4) and have a loyalty to the customer as strong as anyone else's, but I'm the kind of person that tries to evaluate everything honestly, so I bash Nintendo if I feel it's warranted, as well.
And in the same way it gets my blood boiling to see people leave this website negative comments and accuse them of being "Nintendo haters" and "against Nintendo" when they say anything negative, I hate that Nintendo fans have this mentality of "Bad, BAD companies not supporting my Nintendo!"
Sorry, friend, but if ONE company didn't support them, it's like "What the heck, guys?" Maybe 5. Maybe 10. When nearly every single company doesn't support them, do you see who becomes the common denominator in each situation? This is a business. And, frankly, from what we know about the company (granted, from an outsider's perspective) they are pretty bad business partners. From being extremely rough to 3rd parties releasing games on NES and SNES, going so far as to consider them solely competition(look it up), all the way to making consoles that are not only difficult to develop for but underpowered, why do they get to be the good guys?
So, Nintendo is in the right and the literally thousands of companies that won't work with them but will work with Sony and Microsoft are in the wrong? Every company but Nintendo is at fault? Or, is it that maybe Nintendo is at fault, and the vast, vast, vast, vast, vast, vast, vasty majority are acting accordingly?
Again, sorry to respond to YOU, since you didn't actually say anything negative, but you alluded to a situation that I've seen reference countless times on here, and it was just the straw that broke the camels back type of thing, lol.
Can't for the life of me figure out why people are so into remakes. Isn't the fun of a game the discovery of the story and gameplay elements? How can things looking smoother and shinier and clearer make the same exact thing a new experience for some? Oh well, opinions, right?
Sorry, but you'll probably get like 4 notices that I mentioned you, but it's because my computer went wacky while trying to type this and sent out 3 and 4 word responses.
Anyways, using your analogy, it'd be different if a bunch of aliens who had seen the earth came down and everytime we talked to them, they spoke as if the earth was a certain way. You can then make the logical conclusion that since those in the know assume something, it's true.
Every interview with people in the know, including higher up Nintendo officials, has shown that they only mention NX in relation to PS4, Xbox, etc. Never in relation to 3ds or Vita.
But, you're right, tired topic and we'll revive the thread when we know more. Take care.
Yeah, that taps right into my gaming style. Final Fantasy and Zelda being the biggest influences to me and Xenoblade being one of my favorite current gen series. Good stuff
As for my own opinion of this, I would guess this is exactly what's going on:
1- They've realized how much they need 3rd party support for NX because of Wii U's failure. 2- They've identified all their targets from biggest to smallest and going down the list, having meetings, making deals and promises, etc. 3- This guy's company, likely to provide the system with only a game or 2 in it's entire lifespan, is probably somewhere around #1,000 on the priority list.
While this is a tired topic between us, and this guy doesn't add to my side of it at all since he knows nothing, I again stress that there has to be reasons that every single person commenting on NX assumes it's a home console and that it's launching in 2016. I'm not even going to bother to speculate on the "rumors from reliable sources" but it's not surprising they also support the above fact. Like the recent rumor about ZeldaU also coming to NX. As you may remember, these are the 3 points we went back and forth on in the thread a while back
@GloverMist
I don't know why, but your (avatar? icon? whatever it's called) is totally awesome to me. Where do people here get all these awesome and uniques pictures of characters and stuff?
Like @JaxonH said, I would really be curious to see your source on a lot of that, including the turning down of dollar for dollar marketing. As far as "having to stop making sports games", that really won't be a problem. Did they make any other than Mario Tennis for the U? Mario Golf is the only other one that's even somewhat consistent, and getting EA's support on the console would far, far, far outweigh whatever benefits the odd generational Mario sports title(s) bring(s). As for funding small studios, besides some football game with historical figures or some silliness like that, I can't even recall what sports titles indies have brought.
context. what they were saying was that it wasn't continuing the wii branding, if you read the full quote you will see. in fact the only time nx is every brought up is in relation to wii u and/or home console gaming's future
Besides the fact they've made it very clear they are moving on from Wii branding, your idea of a Wii U 2 and it just being a gamepad replacement are literally the worst ideas I've ever heard.
"We have a failure of a console here, so much so that we're likely releasing our new one a year early. With that being said, let's integrate it into the failed console, making it essentially a fancy controller for it, and name it after the failed console that lots of people still don't even know is a failed console"
I mean, you HAVE to be joking with these suggestions, right? I think I've seen you say exactly this before. I've never seen someone with worst suggestions confidently repeat them and claim them lol. So, so bad.
If the NX is a home console launching Nov of this year (I think it is but I know many don't agree) then i'd prefer they save this for NX. Something like Pkimin 4, Paper Mario, the new Zelda, the new 3d Mario would be a very satisfying first party launch lineup.
Then again, maybe it's for both. Or maybe the NX is neither of those things. Who knows anymore?
I'm so sick of people scrambling, terrified to add "DON'T WORRY THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING GAY, IM COOL WITH IT GUYS DON'T WORRY!"
It's censored because a lot of people DO think it's wrong, me included. And I'm allowed to say it just like you're allowed to say you're for it. I'm sorry to upset all the PC liberals here but everything in the world isn't okay just because it makes you happy, and the reason things like this exist is because people know this.
Lastly, "it's art" is no excuse to do absolutely anything you want. There is plenty of creative freedom in ten million subjects, you don't need to jump into the few forbidden ones and claim something stupid like "The art wasn't REAL otherwise". Get over it. Some people still have morals.
I'm reading here that it's $4. So that would be $36,000 minus Nintendo's 30%, which would be $10,800. So, unless I'm missing something, $25,200 is not a very good annual salary!
Whatever it is, there's no more exciting time in the life of a gamer than a new console release. While it doesn't hold the same magic it did years ago when there was a HUGE upgrade in graphics/possibilities, etc. it still is exciting to think of all the possibilities a new console holds. If nothing else, as a Nintendo gamer, you know you are almost certainly getting a new entry in ONE of your favorite franchises (3D Mario, Zelda, Kart, Smash, Mario Party, all guaranteed- Other franchises usually atleast one every other console gen)
But, just like most didn't realize and/or care that the Wii U came out (They just kept their Wii), the majority of casual gamers such as you mentioned will not care and/or realize when the NX comes out (they'll just keep their Wii U).
It's not like as soon as the NX comes out, there will be nowhere to buy Wii U software. I'm sure itll still be on store shelves, if even in a small bargain bin section, plenty long enough and strong enough to satisfy those casual types.
Wow, this is shaping up to be exactly what I was hoping it wouldnt be. Modern music industry with prob all these boring social and dating elements.
I cant for the life of me figure out the appeal of this kind of rpt. I played the dirst hour or so of persona4 and have never been so bored with a game.
I don't want my RPGs to feel like Im watching some offbeat Japanese reality show. I eant epicness with swords and knights and dragons and magic. This sounds lame.
You're right, it doesn't, necessarily, but since this is a gaming company filled with people who interact with and interview people behind the scenes, who knows what they have been told or figured out themselves that they can't say? It really says something when everyone in the industry that talks about this seems to assume it's a home console. Also, NX is brought up whenever Wii U is brought up. Funny how at times like this, when someone is talking about 3DS, they don't mention NX, EVER.
@JaxonH EXACTLY! Why replace the money maker and keep the bomb?
My stance is its definitely a home console and possibly a hybrid. Im open to either. Me and the guy i was responding to have argued back and forth on the forums about it.
However, you and the other guy that can attest to it, are only guessing, as am I. There are no comments made by Iwata that verify this
Lol no Octane, it will be the Wii U, not the 3DS. Notice even the article writer assumes the home console piece definitely and a pprtable piece as a maybe. Its happening no matter how much you fight it!
This looks like it could signify a hybrid console. Its very much like a regular controller but if it also has that free form screen it could be taken portably i guess?
False. They are vey noticeably winding titles down on the Wii U to focus on the NX. What are these "too many" titles. Starfox and Lost Reavers? MAYBE Zelda still coming?
Pay attention, the Wii U is dying.
@rjejr
What will happen to the Wii U is it's being replaced since it's a complete failure. It'll have had 4 years or so of a run by then, and it's being cut a year short since it's just barely hitting DREAMCAST numbers. Simple.
Really strange how Nintendo can be a Top 5 (Top 3 to me, maybe even top 1) developer, yet seemingly have such difficulty with things other programmers take for granted. They other give these long, winded, almost philosophical answers for something that could be answered along the lines of "Since ______ is important in the game, we made it a top goal to make sure the action had lots of depth to it".
How difficult was it to decide if Yoshi can look at boo's and what he can eat, I mean, geez.. These guys seem to lose touch more and more everyday.
While I agree it does sound ridiculous that it could handle Bayonetta 2 and not Binding of Isaac, I think it's comical that this site thinks every developer that doesn't want to bring their games to Wii U (you know, 99 percent of them) are big meanies and bullies and lazy! Only NINTENDO are the good guys! It's comical at this point.
@EllenJMiller Oh will you freaking stop? "I cant give my character big boobs waaaah censorship waaah." Like that matters even .000001 percent as to the enjoyment of the game. Grow up.
Im not familiar with dlc. I dont have a wii u but will prob buy one with smash somewhere down the line. What if thats after theres no more servers? How woyld i get ryu and cloud and them?

So, Nintendo is in the right and the literally thousands of companies that won't work with them but will work with Sony and Microsoft are in the wrong? Every company but Nintendo is at fault? Or, is it that maybe Nintendo is at fault, and the vast, vast, vast, vast, vast, vast, vasty majority are acting accordingly?
Again, sorry to respond to YOU, since you didn't actually say anything negative, but you alluded to a situation that I've seen reference countless times on here, and it was just the straw that broke the camels back type of thing, lol.
Re: Video: The Twilight Princess Development Team Discuss Character and Plot Origins
Can't for the life of me figure out why people are so into remakes. Isn't the fun of a game the discovery of the story and gameplay elements? How can things looking smoother and shinier and clearer make the same exact thing a new experience for some? Oh well, opinions, right?
Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits
@octane
Take care.
Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits
@Glovermist
Yeah, that taps right into my gaming style. Final Fantasy and Zelda being the biggest influences to me and Xenoblade being one of my favorite current gen series. Good stuff
Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits
Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits
@Octane
As you may remember, these are the 3 points we went back and forth on in the thread a while back
@GloverMist
I don't know why, but your (avatar? icon? whatever it's called) is totally awesome to me. Where do people here get all these awesome and uniques pictures of characters and stuff?
Re: Rumour: EA And Nintendo Looking To Rekindle "Unprecedented Partnership" On NX
@neko_ichigofan
Lol..
Re: Rumour: EA And Nintendo Looking To Rekindle "Unprecedented Partnership" On NX
@xenocity
Re: Soapbox: A Nintendo Fan's Hopes and Dreams for the NX
@zool
context. what they were saying was that it wasn't continuing the wii branding, if you read the full quote you will see. in fact the only time nx is every brought up is in relation to wii u and/or home console gaming's future
Re: Soapbox: A Nintendo Fan's Hopes and Dreams for the NX
*worse not worst
Re: Soapbox: A Nintendo Fan's Hopes and Dreams for the NX
@zool,
Besides the fact they've made it very clear they are moving on from Wii branding, your idea of a Wii U 2 and it just being a gamepad replacement are literally the worst ideas I've ever heard.
So, so bad.
Re: Rumour: Intelligent Systems Is Working On New Paper Mario For Wii U
If the NX is a home console launching Nov of this year (I think it is but I know many don't agree) then i'd prefer they save this for NX. Something like Pkimin 4, Paper Mario, the new Zelda, the new 3d Mario would be a very satisfying first party launch lineup.
Then again, maybe it's for both. Or maybe the NX is neither of those things. Who knows anymore?
Re: Nintendo Further Explains Fire Emblem Fates Localisation, With Same-Sex Marriages In Each Version
Re: Gunman Clive HD Collection Has Sold 9000 Copies But Has Still Made A Profit
@Pod
I'm reading here that it's $4. So that would be $36,000 minus Nintendo's 30%, which would be $10,800. So, unless I'm missing something, $25,200 is not a very good annual salary!
Re: Video: Everything We Know About Nintendo NX, So Far
Whatever it is, there's no more exciting time in the life of a gamer than a new console release. While it doesn't hold the same magic it did years ago when there was a HUGE upgrade in graphics/possibilities, etc. it still is exciting to think of all the possibilities a new console holds. If nothing else, as a Nintendo gamer, you know you are almost certainly getting a new entry in ONE of your favorite franchises (3D Mario, Zelda, Kart, Smash, Mario Party, all guaranteed- Other franchises usually atleast one every other console gen)
Re: Analysis: Assessing Why NX Needs to Take Over From Both the Wii U and 3DS
@rjejr
How come you intentionally misspell Nintendo every single time you spell it?
Re: Analysis: Assessing Why NX Needs to Take Over From Both the Wii U and 3DS
@MrRaven1972
Re: Hitoshi Yamagami Talks a Bit About Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem's Conception
Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects
@Octane
Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects
@IceClimbers
My stance is its definitely a home console and possibly a hybrid. Im open to either. Me and the guy i was responding to have argued back and forth on the forums about it.
However, you and the other guy that can attest to it, are only guessing, as am I. There are no comments made by Iwata that verify this
Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects
@ikki5 Correct
Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects
@Octane
Lol no Octane, it will be the Wii U, not the 3DS. Notice even the article writer assumes the home console piece definitely and a pprtable piece as a maybe. Its happening no matter how much you fight it!
Re: Fascinating Patent Shows Nintendo Portable Utilising Free-Form Screen Technology
This looks like it could signify a hybrid console. Its very much like a regular controller but if it also has that free form screen it could be taken portably i guess?
Re: A 'Big' Nintendo Announcement is Coming on Monday
NX reveal or info on the new Zelda, please. Or both
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo is Right to Move On From the Wii Family Name With NX
Talking Point wasnt ezactly necessary when theres a 3 year failure advertising the point
Re: Rumour: NX Set for 2016 Release With Nintendo Targeting 20 Million Shipped Units
@kaze_memaryu
False. They are vey noticeably winding titles down on the Wii U to focus on the NX. What are these "too many" titles. Starfox and Lost Reavers? MAYBE Zelda still coming?
Pay attention, the Wii U is dying.
@rjejr
What will happen to the Wii U is it's being replaced since it's a complete failure. It'll have had 4 years or so of a run by then, and it's being cut a year short since it's just barely hitting DREAMCAST numbers. Simple.
Re: Super Mario Maker Developers Discuss the Difficulties of Adding in Yoshi
Really strange how Nintendo can be a Top 5 (Top 3 to me, maybe even top 1) developer, yet seemingly have such difficulty with things other programmers take for granted. They other give these long, winded, almost philosophical answers for something that could be answered along the lines of "Since ______ is important in the game, we made it a top goal to make sure the action had lots of depth to it".
How difficult was it to decide if Yoshi can look at boo's and what he can eat, I mean, geez.. These guys seem to lose touch more and more everyday.
Re: Poor Odds of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Coming to Wii U as Nicalis Says It's "Not Much More Powerful Than a PS Vita"
Re: Preview: Getting Lost in the World of Xenoblade Chronicles X
@EllenJMiller Oh will you freaking stop? "I cant give my character big boobs waaaah censorship waaah." Like that matters even .000001 percent as to the enjoyment of the game. Grow up.
Re: Final Fantasy's Cloud Is Set To Cause Some Strife In Super Smash Bros. On Wii U And 3DS
