@Ulysses Yeah, probably. I want to bring cats, but things like the stupid fast vine climb, the free wall run, and the items and gathering while riding will probably leave me a Palamute user, at least at first. The higher ranks may leave me needing the extra heals
@Bliquid I feel like Rise is a very good blend of the good parts of both the new and old world. I found World to be beautiful and full of great QoL improvements, but even as someone who came into the franchise pretty late, I still found sone things that made me not enjoy World as much as Gen or 4U. So I'm happy this isn't a direct sequel, it feels like a great progression to the series.
@Lord I've been wondering about that. I only got to play base World fir a little bit, and blitzed through the story, so I don't know how useful Palicos ended up being in G rank. I'm bad at dodging, so I always appreciate the extra heals, but in the demo they aren't feeling even as useful as World.
Granted, they aren't dying as easily as even my overpowered MHGU healer, but still.
And they're called Cahoots! CAHOOTS! And they can wear cute outfits! This is very exciting. I got into the series at MHGen, I really wasn't expecting it to work for me, I tend to struggle with harder games, but here I am, super hyped for Rise. I'm also working my way backwards through the older games.
60$? It better be longer then. I'm not much of a stickler for price per hour, but I still expect a $60 game to last a little while. I want to get this, but I keep feeling like Pokemon is alienating me anymore, so I'm gonna see how it reviews first. The last few Pokemon games haven't been fun for me.
I want them, but I want them to have a different mechanical niche. Maybe have a dedicated spot for them in the museum or Harvey's island? Make them pitchable so we can make music in a minigame of sorts? I don't want them to just be space-taking fossils like in the past games
I don't mind the more grounded designs. Sometimes games with dating aspects go a little crazy. I marry people in games that I think are cute in their interactions because I want warm fuzzies, so sometimes when all the characters are nuts, I don't want any of them. I could see myself going for any of the guys, which isn't how I normally feel.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Yeah, I get it. I first got into MH on the 3ds, when it was on sale. I tried the demo, and wasn't sure if it was thing, but I fell in love. Capcom is pretty good at sales.
It runs beautifully! I was expecting a little stutter in handheld, but it's great. Looks awesome too, I'm in awe that it looks and runs so nice on the Switch.
@Timtomclap Yup. It was a donation from some volunteer or charity company, it had a custom built case like the one in the picture above. It's not like the hospitals themselves are making these.
@nessisonett More like they'll have them in the ward and you can just grab one that no one is using or ask for it. I don't know how other places did it, but mine just had an area they stored them that anyone could grab them from. Kids staying fir a long time or ones that didn't have any other way to entertain themselves sometimes got more priority, but there really wasn't a formal system.
@sabaki08 Nah, stuff like that is just meant for the kid for the few days they had it in their room. I've probably played the intro to Mario Galaxy five times because of these.
Finally! My old children's hospital hadn't had any hospital-made consoles since Gamecube. (There was like, a single non-official homebrewed Wii.) Hopefully they'll make a lot for many different hospitals. It really made a difference for whenever I was admitted for weeks, and I kept hoping there would be new ones, since most were broken or on the cusp of breaking when I was last in a Peds hospital.
@Obito_Sigma I was very confused as a 10 year-old when someone handed me a wine glass of sparkling cider. I didn't know if I should drink it or not. Nowadays I still prefer it over wine.
I like her voice. She was able to do the full range well, elegance, sadness, sometimes a little childish. People always get this rate about voice actors, especially the women, no matter how good it is. It happened with Rena Strober as Azura too, and she did fantastically, in cases objectively better than the seiyuu.
@ChaosBadger777 Definitely Story of Seasons. Harvest Moon is a rip-off of the Bokujou Monogatari series. Originally Natsume published the Bokujou games as Harvest Moon, but after the original developers split off and started publishing them under the SoS name, Natsume started making their own games still using the Harvest Moon name.
@Trikeboy I didn't say that, stop being nasty. I have Nintendo soundtracks, officially released in the west, with only a sliver of the tracks from the game. I don't know why you're being so angry in here, but you need to chill out.
@Trikeboy but they tend to be missing tracks and the import costs are prohibitively expensive and all the track names are in Japanese. :/ It isn't crazy to ask why we can't buy the soundtracks over here. I'd pay for them, Nintendo
Also 95% sure we'll get a new MH Rise trailer out of it! They had confirmed that there will be another trailer before the year is up, and this makes a lot of sense.
I'm getting FE even though I've played that one, because I'm weak, and I may get Taiko, though I already have one rhythm game with expensive dlc in the form of Project Diva.
The fact that the mom apparently didn't say a word to her son and he had an absurd amount of stuff ($500,000 is totally an exaggeration though) probably means there's more to the story. At the very least, the guy has some fault for not communicating properly with his mom.
Well I'm glad that I had just redownloaded the free version. I still have not gotten the golden ending. It was sooooo hard! That's super scummy though, seriously guys... (Plus that's the only translation that has "HUZZAH!" which is objectively the best thing.)
@TheFox While a lot of game sequels don't have any sort of "gate" to understand what's going on, it'd be hard to know without having someone tell you. (Like Arlo did for Pikmin 3) Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect, lots of narrative games would leave you lost out of order. And while games like Fire Emblem (to a lesser extent), Portal 2, and Okami Den don't lock you out of the story, per se, it can make you feel like you're missing some of the references.
I think in general, people like playing things in order.
@Chowdaire Seriously. I was shocked that Nintendo didn't have any sort of "great for your first Pikmin game, no experience required!" at all in all the Pikmin 3 ads I git. A lot of people probsbly figured they'd be locked out of whatever was going on.
I bought the first one when Rise got announced and all the games were on sale. I just started playing it the other day and I'm enjoying it. It has some of the typical bad kid's rpg stuff weighing it down, and a lot of the dialogue is pretty bad, (There's some good jokes in there, but I'm still laughing more at the clunky writing then the actual jokes) but overall it's a fun MH spin-off that feels like a nice change of pace, especially with my current hype addiction to MH during the wait for Rise.
They also don't seem to push any sort of "All monsters are our friends, don't slay them!" that would be super obnoxious for a game called Monster Hunter, which I was a little worried about. (Which is good because there's a lot of random encounters in this game)
Also, I get to ride a Velocidrome named CleverGirl into battle and win using the power of friendship

@Fantasia Poor Palicos are getting overshadowed by the Palamutes. They need some love too!

@Mr-Fuggles777 The actual game has a more seamless lobby system. There's still an online/offline split, but it won't be like this at all
