Re: Soapbox: I Wasn't Going To Play Monster Hunter Rise, But The Game Art Is Too Cute

@Bliquid I feel like Rise is a very good blend of the good parts of both the new and old world. I found World to be beautiful and full of great QoL improvements, but even as someone who came into the franchise pretty late, I still found sone things that made me not enjoy World as much as Gen or 4U. So I'm happy this isn't a direct sequel, it feels like a great progression to the series.

@Lord I've been wondering about that. I only got to play base World fir a little bit, and blitzed through the story, so I don't know how useful Palicos ended up being in G rank. I'm bad at dodging, so I always appreciate the extra heals, but in the demo they aren't feeling even as useful as World.
Granted, they aren't dying as easily as even my overpowered MHGU healer, but still.

Re: Get A First Look At The Story Of Seasons Marriage Candidates

I don't mind the more grounded designs. Sometimes games with dating aspects go a little crazy. I marry people in games that I think are cute in their interactions because I want warm fuzzies, so sometimes when all the characters are nuts, I don't want any of them. I could see myself going for any of the guys, which isn't how I normally feel.

@nessisonett More like they'll have them in the ward and you can just grab one that no one is using or ask for it. I don't know how other places did it, but mine just had an area they stored them that anyone could grab them from. Kids staying fir a long time or ones that didn't have any other way to entertain themselves sometimes got more priority, but there really wasn't a formal system.

Finally! My old children's hospital hadn't had any hospital-made consoles since Gamecube. (There was like, a single non-official homebrewed Wii.) Hopefully they'll make a lot for many different hospitals. It really made a difference for whenever I was admitted for weeks, and I kept hoping there would be new ones, since most were broken or on the cusp of breaking when I was last in a Peds hospital.

Re: Harvest Moon And Story Of Seasons Battle It Out For Cutest Pre-Order Plush

@ChaosBadger777 Definitely Story of Seasons. Harvest Moon is a rip-off of the Bokujou Monogatari series. Originally Natsume published the Bokujou games as Harvest Moon, but after the original developers split off and started publishing them under the SoS name, Natsume started making their own games still using the Harvest Moon name.

Re: Capcom Has "No Plans" Right Now To Bring The Original Monster Hunter Stories To Switch

@TheFox While a lot of game sequels don't have any sort of "gate" to understand what's going on, it'd be hard to know without having someone tell you. (Like Arlo did for Pikmin 3) Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect, lots of narrative games would leave you lost out of order. And while games like Fire Emblem (to a lesser extent), Portal 2, and Okami Den don't lock you out of the story, per se, it can make you feel like you're missing some of the references.

I think in general, people like playing things in order.

I bought the first one when Rise got announced and all the games were on sale. I just started playing it the other day and I'm enjoying it. It has some of the typical bad kid's rpg stuff weighing it down, and a lot of the dialogue is pretty bad, (There's some good jokes in there, but I'm still laughing more at the clunky writing then the actual jokes) but overall it's a fun MH spin-off that feels like a nice change of pace, especially with my current hype addiction to MH during the wait for Rise.

They also don't seem to push any sort of "All monsters are our friends, don't slay them!" that would be super obnoxious for a game called Monster Hunter, which I was a little worried about. (Which is good because there's a lot of random encounters in this game)

Also, I get to ride a Velocidrome named CleverGirl into battle and win using the power of friendship
