It's taken soooooo long. I'm sad it's a little rough, but I'm glad that they're still making good.... Wait....
....
This is a new company that took over the series after Neverland keeled over....... Crap. At least I know it'll have a good translation.
The game just looks so bad for the level of quality it should have for a studio and franchise as big as Pokémon. I tend to like a game no matter the art style, as long as it actually runs well. And Arceus.... Doesn't. At all.
I've been burned by Pokémon so much latrly, so I'm not head over heels on my way to buy it. I may get it eventually, if it's still getting good press after the initial hype. Maybe. Possibly. Money is going to be tight for the next... checks watch six months.
@Dizavid Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. I think devs think that they're preventing spoilers, but all they're doing is making us worry that they're trying to hide something
Something about basketball players and Zelda. Story time!
One time, years ago, I was in the pediatric hospital (a biannual occurance for me) and in pediatric hospitals, there's volunteers that come to visit and entertain the kids. People that'll play games with them, people that dress as Spider-Man and clean the windows, trained hospital dogs, etc.
So one day I got asked by a worker I had been friends with for years if I wanted to meet some of the state's team members. I don't know why I said yes. I was 15, a girl, utterly uninterested in sports, and also only 5 foot tall (152cm). They just come to my doorway, but being basketball players, they would've had to ducked to get past my doorjam. They're youngish and cheerful and ask if I have any questions. I of course ask how they got so tall, but then they ask what I do when I'm in. So I say I play videogames, mostly Zelda. Three of them look at the fourth excitedly, who asks which I'd been playing, and I say Ocarina of Time "YOOOO, that's my favorite one!" He exclaimed, and the rest chatter excitedly about loving Zelda games, and we laugh and make obscure references and confuse the snot out of the hospital worker escorting them. We couldn't talk long, but even as a mildly cynical teenager, that was a really cool visit. They gave all the kids signed posters, but I think mone has disappeared, sadly. Big nerds, all of them.
I think it's less about it being literally the worst game that was ever made, and more about how shockingly bad it is for its "pedigree". Those are several absolutely inexcusible design choices that had no business making it to the full game. The story isn't completely nonsensical, but it is so needlessly vague and weird when the story that you have to read a novel to figure out is super simple.
It's not the worst game ever, but it is like if you went to see a classic Disney movie and you got Minions.
@Octane Part of it that there's pretty much no point to plant flowers. You get so few coins for it, and none of the permanent upgrades are purchasable with them.
I know it's pure nostalgia, but I can't stand watching the dub post voice actor change. Especially Team Rocket. It feels so long. I've watched XY dubbed though. Maybe I'll try watching this, but probably subbed
@CANOEberry I don't like the Shelter games that much. They're short and go on sale pretty often, so you can give it a shot, but from what I've played, there doesn't seem to be a lot to them, and nothing is explained. The devs are big on wordless communication, including when it comes to tutorials ^^;;
@kozaru I'd recommend finding a simple 2-3 page papercraft to learn the basics first. A 9-page one will take a little while, so it'd stink to make a basic mistake early. It'd also give you an idea if the kids could do it.
For supplies, I'd recommend a xacto knife, tacky glue (not regular Elmer's glue), and toothpicks for applying glue and connecting pieces in narrow places. Good luck! Papercraft is awesome~
@kozaru 9 pages, so it's decently big, but Dialga is a bunch of skinny tubes, so it'd certainly take finesse. Palkia would probably be the easier of the two. Unless it's like, Minecraft papercraft, the hobby isn't super kid friendly. My friend and I started when we were maybe 15, and it took some time before we weren't bad at it
Ahhh, it's been so long since I've made a papercraft. I'm probably super rusty. And it doesn't have a .pdo file, so hopefully the instructions are good. Oh, and it's a lined model. More beginner friendly, but it makes it uglier :c
I've poked it on PC, and it interested me, but I didn't feel like making time for it. If it runs well, I think it'd be great on Switch :3 I wonder how it works without a mouse
I recently beat AoL for the first time, and even with savestates and rewind, it was horrible to play. If I spent a long time mastering the combat, I'm sure it could be fun, but dying over and over again just... Isn't. TFH is just FS but worse, sadly. I don't think it's a bad game overall, but it's not a good Zelda game
@swoose Man I love Gourmet Race. It was used at King Dededee's battle theme in Nightmare in Dreamland, and my brother and I would go to the sound room to play it on repeat over and over again. I still remember what number it was in the sound test menu
I probably shouldn't because the quality just isn't there, but DP were the games that got me back into Pokemon, from my large gap since Yellow. My brother and I bonded over it, and it's very nostalgic to me. So I guess I'm getting Pearl tomorrow
I just ordered it. I don't know if I'm keeping it for myself, or giving it as a gift for a friend who's been doing me a big favor, but it's pretty cute. I like that we get the Famicom versions too, because the music on the famicom is sweet
I don't think the majority care how "grown-up" it is, but it's dumbed down so much, even for kids. We had to figure this crap out before some of us cpuld even read. Modern kids aren't as stupid as Pokémon seems to think they are
There are reasons to complain about things, sure. Like, why did XY's super training have no good way for lefties to play, even if Nintendo figured that out over a decade ago? Why does Animal Crossing not have a settings menu? Why is Nintendo charging 150% for an expansion pass that doesn't even work right?
It's not laziness of the devs, it tends to be more greed and mismanagement of the higher-ups that causes issues. It'd be like blaming Scarlett Johansson that Age of Ultron had a stupid characyer death. It's not her fault, she wasn't the director

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2022 Nintendo Direct?
I certainly was not expecting Live a Live, and the fan patch has been on my backlog for years, so that was my big twist of the Direct
Re: Hands On: Rune Factory 5 Feels Comfortable And Familiar, But Is That Enough?
@nhSnork Ah well that's good. I'm definitely wanting to get it. It's been on my calendar for two years, dangit! Poor Kirby will have to wait.

Well you could do something like this.
Re: Random: Logan Paul Paid $3.5 Million For Fake Pokémon Trading Cards
Sadly that amount of money was probably the same as me buying a regular pack of cards

I can never tell if Spring means like, March, or if it means Q1. The two seem to be used somewhat interchangeably in Japan
Re: Nintendo Obtains High Court Injunction Against Internet Service Providers To Block Switch Pirates
Oh. They're Switch rom sites. That's fine. People shouldn't emulate brand new games.

The fact that there have been more Pikmin grown than flowers planted shows an issue with how Pikmin Bloom works
Re: Voice Of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars Adds A "High Speed" Mode
I enjoyed the demo, but all those small waiting spaces between each action or input drove me nuts. Was that any better in the main game?

Hopefully they fixed the Pokéradar bug. Though I'm still on 1.1.1 for glitch shenanigans.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review - Our Stats And Most Played Games
The good news is that I have a 30% reduction in my hours compared to last year. The bad news is that I still clocked in at 908 hours
Monster Hunter Rise - 243 hours
Fire Emblem Three Houses - 113 hours (Three routes down, one to go!)
Pokémon Shining Pearl - 81 hours and counting
Funny that ACNH completely fell off my list

Both this and Omori caught my eye, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate myself for it

Certainly better than last year. Hopefully they don't rest on their laurels next year though
