Nintendo's latest trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has arrived, giving us a good look at all the things we can see and do during the month of December.
As keen players will no doubt be aware, a winter update recently added plenty of new content to the game including limited-time Christmas toy items, new DIY recipes, and even the ability to transfer your island save data – it's about time!
The new trailer above looks into some of these new additions, as well as the various critters you'll want to be keeping an eye out for this month. Our always-evolving guide lists all of the fish and bugs available each month, so make sure to check that out if you don't want to miss anything.
How's your island coming along? Still enjoying your time with the game? Let us know in the comments.

5 more days counting today until I can catch that stupid Dung Beetle and get the challenges for all bugs and the golden net.
I have collected almost all Snow DIY from Snowman by Time Travelling several months ago.
Now i only to discover Christmas DIY recipes as i have collected the Red, Yellow and Blue ornaments by time travelling.
I will keep exploiting the items by time travelling. 🤟
I understand Toy Day is on 24th. I just don't understand why the overall holiday decor isn't available on December 1st outside a few clothing items.
I was trying to catch the lobster on Saturday. Caught five spiny lobsters.
@PBNightmare I caught a lobster last week. You'll probably know if you're chasing one, by far the fastest thing I've chased, and it's smart enough to not get pinned against the netting or in a corner. I thought I was chasing 1 of those giant clams, previous fastest thing I've caught, until it doubled back near the net and then again near the corner, usually the giant clams just stop.
I like it, but having to wait until the middle of the month to get decorations is so annoying! I like Christmas much more than Halloween but it's clear Nintendo doesn't agree.
@rjejr Thanks for this advice. Yeah haven't seen anything that fast yet. The giant clam was difficult. Haven't caught a sea pig yet either.
Cool Christmas theme on the way 😍
@PBNightmare "sea pig"
Was that an autocorrect typo? I have a sea slug, but not a pig. Though I'm still missing 4 or 5. Or 6 or 7.
@rjejr Nope, sea pig. They're kinda cute. Kind of.
Does the golden fishing rod or the golden net ever break?
@rjejr Nope. Small shadow, very fast. Appears after 4:30pm. I hope your luck is better than mine.
@Bmartin001 Golden tools do break.
I have yet to see snow on my island, it only appeared on Dec 01, never again.
Sad times.
@PBNightmare @Kieroni Thanks. And thanks for the "after 4:30" tip. I haven't been playing much of late but it's usually after lunch for about 30 minutes while I digest. My son is home from college so we've been doing family stuff after dinner, no ACNH.
@Heavyarms55 @UmbreonsPapa yes I think we should be able to decorate the island much before, but at least we'll be all set for next year (if we're still playing the game) (if they don't add new items).
@UmbreonsPapa @Heavyarms55 @echoplex yup wife complains about the same thing. I guess in the previous games you were given the chance to get all the items beforehand to enjoy the season.
But I love the attention of detail this game has with all the updates and the scenery really impressive.
@arrmixer Oh I love the game. That's why I want the things, I want to enjoy them. By the time I got the majority of the mushroom things - mostly by begging and trading because the balloon method is BS, the event was all but over.
But for Halloween we were able to reasonably get all the decorations well before the event so it felt right. I'm worried that by the time I finish decorating for Christmas, it's gonna be New Years...
Still trying to collect villager photos. They can be quite stubborn and only want to give me a relay tank. 😑
@rjejr @PBNightmare If you see a shadow take off like Sonic, DON'T chase it around. Instead, just hold the left stick and nothing else in it's direction. It'll keep moving, nowhere near as fast, and eventually you'll be right over it to the point you can just dive down and catch it.
I just want gloves!
@shoeses same here. It is the final insect I need as well for my critterpedia, and the insect exhibit of my museum.
@shoeses Thanks for the advice. I waited on my after lunch playtime to 4:30 and caught a couple of seaweed, a starfish, mussel and oyster. So, not my best swim around the island. 😂
I'm still waiting to see a snowflake as well. ❄
Southern Hemisphere???
Super Hyped for USA version now.
