Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity's Development Was A Real Pain In The... Grass

Hahah sorry I'm old, I thought a decade ago was N64... As a former developer I can appreciate the effort and dedication required for the tiniest detail in a videogame that most players may not even notice. I can inform you that developing games for such basic hardware is a challenge and these guys have impressed. The most mundane details in games can be a complete nightmare!

@Pokester99
You should really try to step out of the Sony family of consoles. Grass movement was produced convincingly on high end PCs a decade ago. That's hardly the point though is it? A vague understanding of videogame development would clarify the achievement made here. I can only imagine the headaches it caused and the frames it steals from performance.

Re: Retro: Back In 1996, Nintendo 64 Was The Must-Have Christmas Gift - Alongside 'Tickle Me Elmo'

Got mine from a junk shop in 1998 for £45 with Diddy Kong Racing. Loved it & played for years then saw the two-tone models in ToysRUs for £15 in around 2000 so grabbed (only) one & replaced my old battered model. Still have it & use an Everdrive with a wireless Retrobit controller. I think this was my "golden age" of gaming as my all time favourite game is Perfect Dark followed by Conker's & Goldeneye. Still play all 3 to this day. Love N64!

Yes, it would be a lot easier to get my mates into it if we could have a local game with bots to fill it out. Although modes etc have been used to push online, I think they would sell more with robust local multi, (look at MK8).

Re: Ubisoft Staff Are Leaving Their Jobs In Droves, Report Claims

High employee turnover with layoffs upon completion of projects is normal in the industry but people who work for Ubisoft are creatively stifled and dealing with toxic company politics compounding the issue. This will affect games we don't even know about yet, be prepared for a new level of Ubi-jank in the absence of valued and loyal engineers and artists, who I wish the best for in their new jobs elsewhere.

Re: Nintendo Minute's Kit And Krysta Say Goodbye In Their "Final Episode"

Kayvoo

Krysta was one of the most uninformed, inexperienced, casual clueless people to present a Nintendo game showcase & Kit was constantly passive-aggressively annoyed at her for being so lame. I heard her say about Mario 64, "My favourite part is where he goes to sleep". Yeah... I seriously hope Nintendo reboots 'real' Directs, I miss their humility & credibility.

Re: Bill Gates Apparently Put "A Lot Of Pressure" On Xbox's Team Leaders To Respond To The Wii Craze

Although Kinect and Playstation Move controllers were a hasty reaction to the motion control fad, Sony made the Move controllers compatible with an 'unknown VR device' which hadn't even been designed yet. Despite their limitations I'm impressed by their forward thinking which is unusual for Sony. At this point the originally gimmicky Move controllers have outlasted an entire console, (PS Vita), while Kinect was indeed a flash in a pan.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?

Kayvoo

Simultaneously one of the most uninteresting years for me since 1986 regarding original Nintendo releases and one of the best years ever for indie & third party. Played some absolute bangers on Switch this year, just not much by Nintendo. All the Wii U ports were residual Iwata era games, we are now in the next era & so far it has been rather clinical, sterile and unwelcoming to me. Metroid Prime 4 & BOTW 2 are the only first party games I'm interested in.
