I still don't believe backwards compatability is a deal breaker for Switch 2 or needed compared to Switch 2 exclusive games that are not on the current Switch that is the most important thing of all for next gen

Yes it is way too expensive for a Nintendo console that doesn't compare to the other consoles on the market

I will happily take a April or May release for next gen I do not want to wait till November 2025 for "Switch 2"

@LacsiraxAriscal development time for 3D Zelda games are only getting longer, took over 5 years for BOTH and over 6 for TOTK so year next 3D zelda is likely 2029 or 2030

@Rob3008 counter argument Nintendo has started they want people who already own a Switch to get multiple Switch units, there are probably millions of people who only have a Lite or base Switch who maybe were thinking or getting the Oled but now with the announcement or the new console not that far away they they now might wait for that

Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most lazy soulless copy and paste games I've ever played it tried so hard to be Breath of the Wild all over again and to me failed miserably

bet if Nintendo didn't tell people in May that next gen is on the horizon sales would be higher

Digital Foundary are correct Luigis Mansion 3 has the best graphics for a first party Switch exclusive, I do not count something like Prime Remastered because it is originally a GameCube game or Monster Hunter Rise because its third party and on other platforms

No change next gen sells anywhere near as much as Switch 1 it's going to sell less the question is how much less

"Most significant drop in hardware sales year on year" probably because Nintendo told us their next generation is not that far away so people are waiting for that announcement

Nintendo puts in less money and resources than any other gaming company and still their game development times are getting longer and is only going to get longer once "Switch 2" is out

how many next gen systems does Nintendo plan to manufacture for its initial launch? anything under 5 million won't be enough

@mattesdude vast majority of third parties for over 7 years haven't put their latest games on Switch why would they all of a sudden put their big games on Switch 1 when the next console comes out when it will likely be easier to port to that system than the current Switch? they are clearly OK ignoring the current Switch audience but next problem not

the second Switch 2 is out third parties are going to ditch Switch 1 in a heart beat guarantee

@nhSnork there are cross gen games which are made with the previous console in mind and not the new one

@Narrator1 other than 3D Mario and Mario Kart what other franchises will have brand new games ready for the first year of Switch 2? there won't be any new games from Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Luigis Mansion, Pokemon, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Pikmin etc in that first years because they all just got games and game development takes years

main thing I want from Switch 2 is exclusive games to Switch 2 that simply can not run on Switch 1, nobody is buying a $400 to $500 console for backwards compatability or cross gen games they buy a console for the exclusives

Nintendo "fans" are the reason why Metroid isn't more popular than it is, the large majority of Nintendo fans refuse to give Metroid a chance for no reason

I'm getting worried that Switch 2 isn't going to have near as many big games in its first few years compared to Switch because of how many big games Nintendo has just given to Switch 1 in the past few years, Switch 2 is probably going to be very back heavy because game development is getting longer and Nintendo is not immune to that

no way FF14 can run on Switch 1, if it can't run on next gen 14 probably never going to be on a Nintendo platform

It is a good $40 pick up but at $60 not a chance

we just got Splatoon 3 just over 1 year ago we don't need 4 anytime soon it's time for a new Animal Crossing early on into next gen

Yes absolutely I don't really care about high resolution graphics but high frame rate I value very much

isn't it funny how Nintendo and Pokemon fans criticise developers rushing out games that end up being buggy and broken but when Pokemon does that those same fans hardcore defend it, the hypocrisy

I'm not spending more than $60 on a game no game is worth $70 or more

I'm way more interested in getting Thousand Year Door remake than Peach Showtime

Atlus didn't want to get overshadowed by Elden Ring DLC and I'm being serious

if your doing a remaster or remake and pricing it at $60 it better include a lot of brand new content and improvements to the original game if not it should be $40 max

there will be games this year but I'm setting my expectations to just small tier releases simply because we are towards the end of the Switch generation than at the beginning and the big games we want now need to saved for the next console to give that the best chance at success

not exactly exciting news IMO it's just updates on already known games that are not new

2024 is going yo be a ghost town for Switch now that next gen is likely delayed to next year Nintendo doesn't even have Pokemon so carry their 2024 holiday

"March at the earliest" that alone fills me with fear we have to wait even longer, I am ready to move on from the Switch

Microsoft just gave us the Nintendo Direct for the month of February
