Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold Over 3 Million Units Physically And Digitally

K1LLEGAL

If Xbox funds a Gamepass release I think Square will abide. They wouldn’t care too much about numbers if they get a big fat upfront cheque from Microsoft. Of course there may be extra income if they achieve certain engagement milestones but who knows. Maybe it was actually Xbox that decided it wasn’t worth getting the sequel on the platform. Personally I couldn’t get into Octopath but it’s a shame if true as they really should be taking the hit and pushing for more JRPGs on their platform. I think they are giving up again.

As these games always sell better on PS and Nintendo; I think Xbox should just make their own exclusive JRPG series (easier said than done) like Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon etc.

Re: Nintendo Shows Off Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass DLC

@a_brave_new_geek I would also recommend Dragon Quest XI S. After the first couple hours, I loved the game so much. Definitely one of the best JRPGs I have ever played; but with modern gameplay. But for some reason those first couple hours (basically the prologue) didn’t grab me until I pushed through.

Also amazing soundtrack and beautiful visuals (I played it on Series X so no idea about Switch).

Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition

K1LLEGAL

@Tremblucay Yea I have bought a good few in the past and am just over them completely. Most just aren’t worth it at all. I just put those funds towards another game now.

If it is the one series you love more than any other then I feel for those who missed out. But it will most likely just sit there taking up space.

Also I hate scalpers. No one should buy from them.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

@DK-Fan not really BS, just sharing an idea in the form of a comment. No idea what you’re on about in your last paragraph. I have seen people admit that they didn’t realise the Wii U was a new console and thought it was a peripheral/add-on for the Wii. So not a myth. Obviously we are the sort of people that visit gaming websites and are pretty clued up so it may not apply to us - but if your average mother who knows nothing about gaming is out shopping they could very easily get confused. Is that really so hard to believe? That is the casual crowd, which was the same crowd that boosted the sales of the Wii. Also lol to me being a Nintendo fanboy haha!

Also I know it didn’t happen with the Playstation as they sequentially number the consoles - you just agreed with me.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

@wonderclassic Exactly and i’m sure that hurt Xbox to an extent. They just didn’t want to be releasing the Xbox 2 when Sony was releasing the Playstation 3. A cycle that would have carried on forever leaving Xbox one behind. Sony numbers its consoles - it’s the most boring route but at least consumers can see clearly when the next console is out.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

K1LLEGAL

A lot of the problem comes from the name. Wii ‘U’ and ‘3’DS caused confusion amongst consumers as to whether they were actually a new system or just a variation. It’s all in the marketing though!

But also the Wii and DS hit the casual markets like no other, with Brain Training and Wii Sports leading the charge. Hard to follow up - though they managed it with the Switch.

Re: More Sonic Origins Details Discovered, Physical Edition Hinted

K1LLEGAL

I feel like i’m missing something with this. Haven’t these games been re-released a lot?

I have them all backwards compatible on Series X (inc. Sonic 3 and Sonic CD) but other than that, if we are talking Switch; aren’t most in collections anyway on all platforms? Glad people are excited though; especially if the price is right.

Re: Square Enix Officially Announces Kingdom Hearts IV

K1LLEGAL

I for one will be extremely excited for this nearer the release. I love the whole franchise since I played the first one on my 12th birthday on PS2. Incredible series (3 is still good too despite lack of story).

That gameplay looks absolutely wild!

@Fizza I get your point and it definitely looks out of place; but there is every chance this is just one world of many.

Re: Looks Like Nintendo Has Been Reprinting 3DS Retail Games For A Final Hurrah

K1LLEGAL

I made a post on reddit recently with my recent 3DS game pickups and realised that my Link Between Worlds classics was a thinner case. Wasn’t sure the reason but now I get it.

I also wondered how these online retailers were getting so much stock of things like Majoras Mask, Dragon Quest and Metroid replenished. Snatched them all up! Hardest to get was probably Bowser’s Inside Story but eventually that went back in stock too.

I went on a physical binge and picked up:

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros/Bowsers Inside Story/Superstar Saga
Zelda: Majoras Mask & Link Between Worlds (classic edition)
Dragon Quest VII and VIII
Metroid Samus Returns
Fire Emblem Shadows of Valencia
Pokemon Ultra Moon
Warioware Gold

All recently in stock brand new in the UK. Only Link Between Worlds was the thin case. All were red strip sealed; except Majoras Mask which is sealed but no strip?

For those in the UK that are interested: best two places are Base.com and 365Games. 365Games was better because it gives reward points but in the last couple weeks it’s gone weird, upped its prices and is swamped with NTSC games; and since the 3DS isn’t region free that doesn’t help.

Also 365games send each game separately. So if you order 5 games you have to explain 5 packages to the wife. It makes no sense and it maketh me shooketh.

Re: Looks Like E3 2022 Is Officially Cancelled

K1LLEGAL

It’s a shame - I actually looked forward to it each year and enjoyed the showcases I watched. Felt like an event and even if it wasn’t always mindblowing; it was still cool and I always knew at least something would interest me.

Cool for those in the industry too to spend time together and meet eachother etc. At least Microsoft should be big enough to host something with all it’s teams, Zenimax and ActiBlizz.

Re: Random: Requests For Zelda Ports Increase Following BOTW 2 Switch Delay

K1LLEGAL

@NintendoWife was just looking at the Wikipedia release timeline myself and had the same thoughts. 6 years between the BOTW games but with Link’s Awakening in the middle which felt new even though it wasn’t.

Crazy how between 1998-2002 we had Ocarina, Majora AND Wind Waker (as well as the Oracle games but obviously different developer).

Re: Random: Requests For Zelda Ports Increase Following BOTW 2 Switch Delay

K1LLEGAL

@Specter_of-the_OLED to be fair the Wii U had:

Retail:
1) Breath of the Wild
2) Wind Waker HD
3) Twilight Princess HD
4) Hyrule Warriors

Virtual Console:
5) The Legend of Zelda
6) Zelda II
7) Link to the Past
8) Ocarina of Time
9) Majoras Mask
10) Minish Cap
11) Phantom Hourglass
12) Spirit Tracks

In addition to…

Backwards Compatibility:
13) Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess (again), Link’s Crossbow Training

So hasn’t stopped them before!
