@Quarth Not a 4 year absence. I’m here every other day. Just never comment. Felt strongly about this; so did comment. I don’t get what is funny about that but oh well!
@Quarth Pretty sure it was all the kids jumping down his throat one by one that kept the comment section going as long as it did.
@NotJustQuarth Mr Muscle was completely allowed to say what he said and the NL staff crying like that to him for his comment was pretty cringe and immature. He essentially said “I don’t believe this one review - I will wait for more before i’m convinced”......... Sounds pretty familiar to me.
Plus questioning the integrity of reviews (and articles with all those BUY THIS affiliate links) on this website is increasingly more appropriate. This isn’t the VC reviews/WiiWareWorld days.
@Obito_Sigma Yea you say that, but if Sega threatens to remove your entire channel over a couple of videos based on their games, you would stop making Sega-related content. I agree with you in regards to Nintendo; they may be backwards in this whole thing but at least they accept videos in some regard. Companies like Sega ruin the whole thing.
To use the TotalBiscuit example again; the channel has become his life through the massive income he receives... so if Sega threaten to take that all away over a Rome: Total War video or whatever then of course he is going to stop making Sega content; whether the fans want it or not. And that is TB who is a huge presence on YouTube with Polaris (and with that Disney) network power behind him. Compare that to a smaller channel and, yea, they couldn't do anything about it.
Now Sega content still appears on YouTube so it definitely isn't just cut and dry "FLAG EVERYTHING SEGA" on their part. There are entire playthroughs of Sonic Boom for instance; but I guess you just have to be careful.
The fan site that this article sources seems to be full of people who aren't really knowledgeable on it at all; they probably just got DVR's and made some Sanic content and whinge when they can't monetise it.
EDIT: If i'm going to criticise a source; I suppose I should provide my own. 14:20 on this video: http://youtu.be/k84i3Op-LQI. Note that this isn't the only time Sega has done this.
Urm, Sega has always been one of the worst offenders of this. It's not a rumour at all, it's something that has been going on for a few years now. Just look at TotalBiscuit's channel and his boycott of them.
They used to try and shut entire channels down if they had Sega game content.
And yea I did a few Chao videos back in 2012 and they got flagged. 2012.
I wonder how some people here would have handled playing Dungeon Keeper... killing innocent Knights by crushing them with a boulder trap or poisoning them. Or murdering them with an army of beetles and flies...
@rjejr Haha in regards to my name, I was playing perfect dark zero at the time of choosing one and if you get 12 kills in a row it shouts KILLEGAL at you (That was before this site was called WiiWareWorld and was VC-Reviews... yes 7 years ago). So it stuck. Like I said today I picked up both GTA V and Mario Party DS and my most played game recently has been Animal Crossing. But sure okay my name says it all.
Guess I should have been called SquishyRainbowUnicorn or something instead to keep everyone happy.
@Snkfiend Funnily enough, in the "Deep Silver won't bring it's games to Wii U" article, many people decided to comment saying "Saint's Row is ****", "Dead Island is ****" etc etc when they probably haven't even played the games.
Also @bizcuthammer are you serious? Cod has evolved more than GTA?
@Damo That is quite a fanboy thing to do though. I appreciate that we all have our own tastes and opinions and yours may genuinely be that you're not missing out... but imagine writing an article like that for every game when it didn't come out on a system you own. People do that in comments sections all across the internet and they are all fanboys.
I literally don't understand why people think they can't enjoy both. It's the same with all console wars and arguments. Just play whatever you want and don't make a big deal about it. I think gamers are missing out on amazing experiences due to loyalty towards a company that only really wants their money.
@Einherjar But it's not like it has to be one or the other... Last week I bought Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and then today I got both Grand Theft Auto 5 and, of all things, Mario Party DS.
There are virtual strip clubs in GTA V because there are strip clubs in real life. And there is no shame in visiting it in the game because it's a part of that game. I'm not far into the game yet but i'm sure there is a story mission of some sort that requires you to go to one. I mean I understand not playing it in front of your kids... just like I wouldn't play it in front of my parents.
This is where controversy over video games starts... with articles like this discussing the negatives of the game and calling them out as "sexist" or disgusting or whatever. The whole point of video games is escapism and fun. People need to stop getting so upset.
Really fantastic game; I have it on Steam. I wonder if they will keep the online mode. Also, it will be interesting to see if the kids actually bother to support it on the Wii U.
I know people will automatically assume this is a good move by Nintendo. But there are major benefits to allowing content sharing on YouTube. Especially for smaller games (which, admittedly, doesn't apply to many of Nintendo's fraanchises). Just look at Minecraft. It wouldn't have done half as well if not for YouTube.
Also Sega has changed it's mind in regard to content sharing. They were shutting channels down and I had to stop a certain LP because of it. But because of the backlash they changed their mind. Unfortunately a lot of damage was already done.
Edit: Just to add. People now need to be more careful when making a video review of a Nintendo game. We are well within our rights to review products and share said review (at least after the release date) but now content makers need to be careful about the footage and audio they use in the backgroud. Again, bit of a shame.
Most of the time it's an automatic thing. Youtube's software will recognise content belonging to a specific third party. Some videos get through this and won't be tagged. It can be luck of the draw. Nintendo was always good with content sharing though so this is a bit of a shame.
@DePapier Again, you misunderstood. Insomniac is now a third party developer and can do whatever they like in regards to the Wii U. However, the Ratchet and Clank series remains a Sony exclusive series. Insomniac is currently working on an Xbox 360 game which could have also come to Wii U if they wanted it to... but they don't.
@DePapier You know what, I appreciate the fact that some can't afford/don't have time for multiple consoles. And also, boycotting companies that are damaging the industry is another fair reason. But that is no reason to start slamming games that aren't on the console you DO have. Ratchet and Clank, whether you like it or not, is an extremely well made and polished series of games. It's not copied and pasted and zipped out like Call of Duty. Insomniac is a company that actually seems to care about their titles so it's really sad to see people here putting one of the good developers down, for no reason at all.
CD Projekt Red is a company known for it's amazing post-game support (for free as well) but i'm sure if it was said that CD Projekt Red wasn't making games for Wii U, all of you would come out and say the company is "rubbish and stupid" or something along those lines.
@DePapier Why? I own a Wii U. I loved Nintendoland and I know I will love the exclusives being released later in the year. But come on! The Wii U could do with some of the big third party titles here and they're not getting any.
Edit: I also own an Xbox 360, PS3 and 3DS from the current gen line-up. I have had amazing experiences on all of them. I'm no fanboy and I really think people should stop being so loyal to one company. They're missing out.
@Royalblues THANK YOU. That's exactly the same problem I have with people on this site. I remember when it was said Saint's Row wouldn't come to Wii U and some people said "good". How is it good that a series doesn't come to your console of choice, even if you don't enjoy that particular series. Idiots.
And in regards to the tagline "here we go again". Well yea, what did you expect? Nintendo once again decided to make an underpowered console, whilst console developers have been craving more power since the Xbox 360 and PS3 became more and more outdated relative to technology. The Wii U basically is "Current Gen", just with a "Next Gen" release date.
@LavaTwilight 1080 is the resolution, not the graphics. You can have some really bad looking games still use a 1080p resolution. Also, as others have pointed out, game developers obviously have dev kits for these consoles. They know what the consoles can do (maybe not to the full extent; that will come with time and practice) and it's clear they are favouring the ACTUAL next gen consoles instead of the Wii U.
It is quite funny though to see "TITLE X is skipping the Wii U, TITLE Y is skipping the Wii U" followed by "Disney's Planes Jetting Onto All Nintendo Platforms This Year". Some things never change.
@Koto What do you mean they have no idea what they are doing? Have you read the comments here? Lots of people saying "we don't care". Therefore Deep Silver clearly made the right decision since the Wii U userbase doesn't care about their games.
I hate when you commenters say "who cares" etc. You should care! Sure, you may not like Dead Island or whatever but that isn't all Deep Silver is behind. They've been a great publisher of various German-made RPGs. So now, beyond Dead Island and Saint's Row the Wii U won't be getting things like Sacred. But okay yea. If you kids weren't going to buy these games anyway then all you're doing is showing Deep Silver they made the right decision.
As always theres a lot of stupid people here. For starters; Unreal Engine is not only for Unreal Tournament, nor just for FPS games. Many RPGs have used the Unreal Engine.
@Warnerdan Well done for one of the most pathetic fanboy comments in the thread. "i'm very happy with this news". Why on Earth would you be happy about less support? Dumb.
Also to those who are surprised about the suggestion that Wii U is not next gen...why? Why are you surprised? The Wii U is ONLY next-gen in terms of it's release date. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot once again. This isn't me claiming the imminent death of Nintendo like some would; but they've alienated their console once again and therefore screwed their fans out of multiplatforms once again. Good job guys.
@ivanmata No they can't because a lot of the stores are physically closing. They need to sell of some of their stock to get back into a good financial position. Once they have fixed the business then they can switch back to selling at regular prices.
@mch @Morph Forgive me if i'm wrong but i'm going to go ahead and assume you two are the type of kids that support everything Nintendo does. There is a reason they got rid of this restriction so quickly... because it was dumb as balls. No other online digital store has implemented it; Nintendo were just being idiots. Glad to see some other people here realised that too though.
Just to be clear:
Stopping kids from downloading 18+ content = Great!
Stopping adults from downloading 18+ content = Stupid.
@DePapier I hope you don't mean me. I never said anything of the sort. Of course the Wii got some amazing games. It also got a whole lot of shovelware... or are you going to tell me i'm wrong?
@3DSonicPizzaHD How? By saying a game looks better on a 5 month old console than on a 7 year old console? Wouldn't really call that a win.
@SteveW Deep Silver are pretty awesome, actually.
Any of you Nintendo-only fans who are saying "Who cares about Saints Row" are really missing out. It's a series which takes gaming back to it's core characteristic; Fun. If you're gonna be fanboys, don't be dumbass fanboys.
@SilverLightning The Ps3 was never £599. It launched at £425.
@Angel792 The Xbox took nowhere near 2 years to get good games. Are you serious? Around 6 months after it launched Oblivion came out. Oblivion. Thats a huge game to get so early on in a console's lifecycle let alone an entire generation. Don't just make random stuff up. That same year it got Gears of War and Saint's Row. And they're only the heavy hitters; obviously. Plenty of other games came out in the meantime.
@SneakyStyle Well these websites are posting the bad news stories because they get hits. People click on them. Just look at the Rayman story. Not because Microsoft and Sony are paying them to. Also what news is there to report about those games you mentioned? What details do you have on Mario Kart U for instance?
Mindlessly bashing the Wii U is wrong. But so is mindlessly supporting it.
@cornishlee Look I hate Bobby Kotick, but you literally just supported everything he said. He's saying there's not enough kids playing on the Wii U. Whether thats because of the launch games, the price point, or the fact that they are still satisfied by their Wii's; it doesn't change the fact that there aren't a huge number of children playing on the Wii U.
@Slapshot Thanks a lot for the reply. Yea I agree, I can't see the logic behind it whatsoever. In fact it seems detrimental in every single way bar one. And that is that marketing for the game wouldn't happen all at once, they would have to market it twice. However, by doing this they have upset Nintendo fans, whereas if they released the Wii U version now and kept the PS360 versions as delayed; I don't think anyone would have been upset.
I'm not the biggest fans of Ubisoft's games; just don't have much passion for any of their franchises. That said, they usually seem to conduct business in a fine manner. The only compaints i've really seen against them are the Uplay system (which i'm not very familiar with so won't say anymore about that) and the fact that they have switched to yearly releases for Assassin's Creed.
@Slapshot I don't want to revel in the fact that you may have been fighting the wrong corner for a bit there; all your comments have been mature and you took the time to do a bit of research; but i'm just wondering, what made you think it would be a legitimate delay for the Wii U version when it was so close to going "Gold"? I mean sure games get delayed all the time, but it's a special case when it's 3 weeks from release and gets delayed 7 months.
@Knux You keep saying people are overreacting. Isn't that a good thing? If enough consumer pressure is placed on Ubisoft they might actually decide to do something about releasing it sooner on the Wii U. I'm not interested in Rayman Legends. But I know that consumer power is growing larger and larger... Just look at operation Rainfall. The consumers fought and they won. So okay, you sit back and complain about the complainers. At least their complaints might mean something, unlike yours.

That's all he's saying.
Re: Activision's Bobby Kotick Is Disappointed With The Launch Of The Wii U
@Hyperstar96 Given that he's also the Skylanders guy, yup.
Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September
Oh well. Very strange story.
Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September
@Slapshot I don't want to revel in the fact that you may have been fighting the wrong corner for a bit there; all your comments have been mature and you took the time to do a bit of research; but i'm just wondering, what made you think it would be a legitimate delay for the Wii U version when it was so close to going "Gold"? I mean sure games get delayed all the time, but it's a special case when it's 3 weeks from release and gets delayed 7 months.
Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September
They already did get LOST, they released Via Domus. Was ok.
Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September
Lol the censorships by TBD or whoever are pretty funny. Keep them up you bucket of candy floss.
Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September
@Knux You keep saying people are overreacting. Isn't that a good thing? If enough consumer pressure is placed on Ubisoft they might actually decide to do something about releasing it sooner on the Wii U. I'm not interested in Rayman Legends. But I know that consumer power is growing larger and larger... Just look at operation Rainfall. The consumers fought and they won. So okay, you sit back and complain about the complainers. At least their complaints might mean something, unlike yours.
