"Never liked this series, honestly. Uchikoshi peaked with Virtue's Last Reward." @MirrorFate2 Same. Zero Time Dilemma was a poor way to end the series.
Found the first one to be quite underwhelming beyond the first 3 hours (with the exception of one of the endings), with poor pacing and abysmal tonal sifhts poorly done. Started the second one but it was even worse, lots of recycled content, and even more dumbed down. Not interested in this third entry.
@purple_shyguy You seem to misunderstand what i'm saying. We are talking about monetary loses due to those sites that have been closed. Something that makes no sense, when people are going to do the same on other sites. You say "if i couldnt pirate them"... but you did, and still can.
"These actions resulting in an estimated loss of $170 million." I'm pretty sure companies didn't lost that money. There's just too many alternatives to do the same.
And... another western meme vn bites the dust. I sometimes wonder what is the criteria for what VNs get analyzed... every year theres some pretty good western vns, but most of them get no review at all, while subpar "lol" meme vns like this one do. The preview was full of try hard cringy dialogue.
I like this series a lot but.... uh, seems quite underwhelming? i mean, i own the previous one on ps4 (fantastic game), its been 8 years since its release and looks way better than this one.
There's no proper hentai games on switch. I guess you guys mean those fun-ecchi games with some fanservice or panties.
It's weird having this kind of conversation, seeing as the recent changes in policy made Death end request code Z and Neptunia Rebirth to release only for ps4/ps5 and skip switch in the west.
Not a pure VN though. Thats an hybrid that has some vn elements. But that only makes my point stronger... Theres quite a lot of great vns that are longer than thar trilogy.
As far as i know, the cancelled physical edition is Spanish, and there seems to be licensing problems and technical problems with the spanish translation. It was released some years ago only on xobx, and it was taken down. Even if you go to steam, the spanish translation is nowehere to be found. It seems like a problem OMOCAT has, not the distributor, who im pretty sure would make money releasing it.
"Why are you giving us social commentary on the free market instead of telling us if the product is good? That's not your job" <- He can, he wants, it's a mini-review, and he can give it the score he wants. It's called a review. And yes, it's his job.
I sometimes don't understand videogame readers. You really dont want to know the reviewers opinion? why are you reading a review then? It's how all entertaiment and art criticism works.
@Arawn93 Uh... nope. In the case of this game the main character saying out loud that many people are going to hate it, is purely objective information. It's been happening from the moment it was released 14 years ago.
Many people even stop playing the game because they can't stand him.
@F_Destroyer What? What are you talking about? Having your console be backwards compatible with the digital catalogue from the previous console is not backwards compatibility to you? Dude... other manufacturers have been doing it for quite some time.
I bought a couple of ps1 games on my psp... and you know what? i can download them again on my ps4 now for free. If having access to things you already bought in the past on a new console, is not backwards compatibility, i dont what your talking about.
@F_Destroyer "I really don't see how they could do any better" <- Can't wait to hear why having 0 content i bought from previous digital stores on Switch, is the best thing they could've done.
@BadTango I played the Snes version and it's a great game. Very enjoyable. The game and story itself are worth it. I just don't know why they choose this engine and style, it was better suited for new games with a retro aesthetic.
I can't be the only one who thinks this style is really ugly. Look at that wrestling or western scene... ugh, blurry sprites, backgrounds seems to be low quality textures, 3d elements look bad, and the lighting is all over the place.
@Ayasplat Tell me that now... 2 characters, one arena, and one skin... all added less than month a half after the release. Don't kid yourself, they cut that content on purpose.
In terms of influence... Goldeneye. But i think Nightfire, Agent under fire and Everything or nothing were even better. Nightfire's multiplayer was legendary.
Everything or Nothing is probably the best overall.
I see people saying "buy the soundtracks then"... the thing is, i do. I import quite a lot of videogame soundtracks from Japan, and i own a decent amount of them.
BUT, here is the thing. Only a few are released. HAL, Monolith and Intelligent Systems are pretty consistent, i think it's due to them managing their own music. Beyond that, you get your marios and zeldas done by external companies, and little more.
Nintendo has always been more interested in using their soundtracks for promotion o "collector's editions", with single cds with a selection of the osts. We get way less than before, when the nintendo Club had cds as rewards.
And even then... it's hard to ignore the idea of just listening to music via streaming. Idk, they dont make things easy.
The comparison to the wii version is due ti it, being the one the've used here, it seems. But they modified it in a lot of ways. The wii version was critizised for its dark colours and lack of faithfullness to the original, and i think they managed to make it more faithfull this time.
@sanderev I guess not. You are not giving any timeframe, you ignore the situation worth the only comparable case we have, and it seems like the wii situation doesn't bother you. In other words: What you say is not exact and you are not adding anything useful by saying that.
@sanderev You say that... but allow me to remember you that with Wii is no longer the case. You haven't been able to re-download anything for quite some months now, and Nintendo refuses to say anything about it.
The idea de Nintendo is not holding back content for post-release launch, is pretty naive. They've been doing for years now with many of its games. There's no way they only developed 10 characters for launch.
Nintendo, stop releasing incomplete games. In some cases, your physical products are incomplete just 2 months after release.
They said from the very beginning thatpeople should have the expectations in the right place. It has a lower budget than the wwe games, and they are focusing on the gameplay style that hopefully, will be more akin to old wrestling games.
He was always a salesman first. People did memes and stuff, but in the end he was just an american salesman that happened to enter the videogame industry. I always enjoyed how Geoff made him question that he couldn't answer.
@samuelvictor "This is 4/5 games entirely rebuilt from the ground up in a modern engine" <- Except... 1 and 2 have been available for many years now. The one they rebuilt for this collection is 3.
And the fact that it's not emulation makes it so it lacks some features, like savestates or rewind function.
An on-rails shooter that manages to be uglier than the original from 26 years ago, runs poorly, and controls badly. Good job MegaPixel Studio, let's see what other classic game you screw.
I try not to criticize other people's opiniones... but it baffles me the score Nintendolife gave to this game. I tried the "lite" version and is amazingly boring and generic.
And all this microtransactions and dlcs in the paid version feels scummy. I don't know how they failed to address that properly in their review.
@ChromaticDracula Nobody wants to live a horrible life due to their working conditions. One things is loving creating videogames, and other being crushed by your company. If he made this decision, it's because he thinks life is going to be better there.
Of course he is leaving... i'm spanish, and Mercury Steam working conditions are so BAD, that most of its employees leave the company sooner than later.
@glaemay I dont know what Sony has to do with this? I'm commenting on this news article about nintendo. I dont know why you think my opinion on sony is different.
Poor nintendo, it's sales are being hurt by emulation... oh wait, it's not happening, its a multimillion multinational company with the best financial results of its history.
