Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

This article was probably written by a lazy dev. Of all the possible grievances people can have about the current state of the videogame industry, this guy is concerned about an adjective. People misuse words all the time, but non-pedantic folks normally have the ability to understand what they're trying to say.

Laziness may not always be the reason behind bad games or poorly executed releases, but at the end of the day in the eyes of the public it just looks lazy.

Also you would be surprised at the amount of developers who do a halfhearted job out of laziness. They're humans too you know?

Just a handful of ignorant kids. I grew up in the 2000's and I was familiar with old technology from a young age. These people just choose not to be informed. Some of them even take pride in not recognizing devices from the beginning of this century like it makes them cool or something; a weird trend I've been noticing.

@NeonPizza I only ever played Wii on a CRT Tube TV and it always look great to me. The pointer controls never ceased o amaze me. Even in Super Paper Mario, which is a criminally underrated game, I loved using Tippi to scan the screen all the time.

For me the Wii era was just something else. Best Mario, best Zelda, best Metroid (in my opinion), Mario Kart Wii and Brawl coming out one month apart. Hundreds of hours poured into Wii Sports. Man I miss those days.

@NeonPizza Same here. I remember watching reviews at the time and thinking people were exaggerating when they said the controls were amazing. Then I got it and I couldn't believe how great the controls actually are. Metroid Prime Trilogy does deserve to be at the top because they implemented the excellent controls of 3 into 1 and 2.

I don't remember people being as dramatic regarding spoilers during and before the Wii era as they are today. Many people didn't even know spoilers were a thing and just wanted to see as much of the game as possible when the hype was too high.
