In a new bid to market its popular Switch console, Nintendo's been rolling out the celebrities in a new series of ads. The latest to get involved? None other than Jessica Alba.
The American actress, who you'll no doubt know from films like Fantastic Four and Sin City, can be seen playing Ring Fit Adventure, Mario Golf: Super Rush and Just Dance 2022 with her family in the new commercial. "Moving along with the fun, that's our way to play," she says.
The ad follows other recent videos starring How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris and pop star Christina Aguilera; each commercial focuses on its chosen celebrity and their family enjoying the Switch together.

@dew12333 She was a huge movie star from 2005 to about 2010. She was in a ton of big budget b-movie spectacles and Sin City.
This is the best Jessica Alba acting in a while.
She was considered the bee’s knees in my high school years. I assume she’s settled down for a quiet life to raise a family, and Lo and behold, upon a quick search, I see she’s done just that.

Reminds me of the marketing strategy that Blizzard did with World of Warcraft round 2010 with actors showing their characters in WoW. Would love to know how much of this is a paycheck/good acting and how much is them really being a video gamer. (Brie- seems legit; Brendan Fraser-gamer that's labeled his owned Switch)

Man, I haven't thought about "Dark Angel" since it was on the air.
From what I've heard, her experiences with that awful Fantastic Four movie were what lead her to stop acting, and start her own company which proved to be more lucrative for her in the long run. So mad respect to her in those regards.
She's a business woman now. She founded Honest Company which reported a 2020 revenue of $300M.
Jessica is just awesome, and seems a really nice person too.

who cares about celebrities in this day and age? these commercials seem really out of touch.
i understand they want to reach the most shallow, celebrity focused, non videogame playing people possible because their money is good too, but how about focusing on the people who actully care a bit? wheres fzero? mother 3? make a PSA saying you havent forgotten us. it wont turn off the celebrity obsessed chuckleheads you are courting and itll give you so much good will from your real fans you wont know what to do with it.

People dismiss her as just some actress, but she's actually a very successful businesswoman who runs a billion dollar company.
I think Nintendo did some research and realized there are plenty of people in their 30s who still don't have a Switch and that's the demographic they're going for this Christmas season.

@Kevember it’s no longer a billion dollar company, the last few years, and a few scandals (mouldy baby wipes and not as natural as they say), mean it’s worth less than half of what it was when it first floated.
Though I agree she’s been successful outside acting, though in truth It’s always difficult to know how much celebrities ACTUALLY have to do with the business side of companies like this. Are they just the figurehead that brings in the public or do they have a hand in actually running things. Usually there’s a business brain or two behind the scenes pulling all the strings, it’s mutually beneficial for all.
Regardless Honest Co. has been on a pretty solid downward trend for a while now.
I think they’re trying to make the switch as popular to the non-hardcore, general public as the Wii was. I mean everyone and their grandmother I knew had a wii and was playin wii sports.
Although the switch is hella popular it isn’t as popular with the non gamers as the Wii was . I think Nintendo is targeting that demographic this holiday season and this commercial does a good job at it.
Heck they should make the next commercial with Chris Pratt playing a switch…wouldn’t the new voice of Mario make sense?

Also, if you want to see cringe. Look at any company that has hired an "iNfLuEnCeR" to market their product.

The commercial is actually pretty good and although it's abit cheesy the advert works well for the holiday season for Nintendo's target demographic.

So now they are using b list Celebs to sale games in the USA. Glad. That they rarely use Celebs to try and get you to buy Nintendo's games and systems in my country to be honest
